Ouch. For me it was just her asking me to do really pointless stuff "You should go to that big tower i bet there is something cool there" Me: "Uh yeah okay" -While playing Oblivion-
I used to watch my dad game when I was younger. This was back in soviet russia in the early 90s, so it meant I watched him play the original prince of persia and bugged him to find people to have that awesome 32 bit swordfight that now just looks uncomfortably sexual.

In Soviet Russia, DOS operates you?
Seriously though, playing games in DOS is something effectively no one in my generation understands.

I used to play King's Quest and Police Quest, the SSI gold box RPGs, and once I even got Leisure Suit Larry running when I was like 7 years old. That was pretty cool, or so I thought at the time.

Cant think of any other game where you talk about your feelings to someone seconds after decapitating someone.

People have a weird idea of mainstream on this forum because how strongly we tend toward the extreme end of our hobbies. But things like FPS, in terms of how the really macho type guys will see them, fall on the nerdy side.
Sports games are the only acceptable video-game that I've seen at this level.
I literally don't interact socially with anyone who isn't a gamer. The closest thing I have to a non-gamer friend is my attorney, and he was actually my DM in high school.

My brother likes Dragon Age....he's even read my copies of the books. I like Dragon Age and I'm also a girl....However most girls around here seem to buy nothing but the Sims....which makes me sad seeing as I like actual games with game play and funny things called storyline's...As for the guy in question...who knows, maybe the whole epic scale of the game was too much for his tiny brain to grasp, he's better off playing CoD MW 2, it only goes for what? 2 hours tops....
I know only one girl IRL that plays RPGs tbh. She is the one who dragged me into this world xD The other ones that i know play Diner Dash or Sims. Don't get me wrong, i used to play Sims too, but it's getting really boring after a time. I like something with a story, with some action

I, myself, find I am branching out more into things I would've stayed away from in the past, and also games seem to be merging genres. Look at Bioshock. Look at how RPG's have developed from their text and turn based systems, and how shooters are taking leveling aspects from RPG roots.

I only have one friend I play video games with. We've each played DA:O a million times, so when we play together we make up new dialogue and such as we go along, and just make fun of our PC. In fake British accents.
Yeah, we're special. We have a good time, though.

At any rate, as a rule I now never play video-games around things that breathe.
I will happily game with a 2-year-old on my lap, but if my gf walks into the room I immediately pull up the system menu.
And yet, I used to play Baldur's Gate with her in the room. She'd be next to me competing in online backgammon tournaments, and I'd be uncovering my Bhaalspawn past. I think it's the voices that bother me now; I don't like her hearing the conversations.

Good to know I'm not the only one. I just can't play through a games story with other people around. It's like having someone looking over your shoulder while you read a book.
