In ME2 one of the load screen messages said going into a second playthrough would unlock higher powers.  Spoilers are allowed here so I'm asking here.  Is the message saying that new skills/powers will open up that weren't available in my first playthrough with that character or I am understanding this wrong?

You have access to a bonus power, which is one of the powers that a loyal squadmate had access too. For example, if Garrus was loyal you can now take AP Ammo as an additional power, ect.

You also get bonuses to experience gained and starting resources for having beaten the game once already.

Cheers. McBeath.

Whenever you'd start your next playthrough you'd get a choice of choosing a bonus power depending on whose loyalty missions you did in the previous playthrough and this would appear at the beginning as soon as you wake up in Lazarus Station on the squad screen with 1 point automatically invested into it.

With advanced training (research terminal in Mordin's Lab) you can change your bonus power anytime while on the Normandy although it will cost Element Zero so may need to import a 'rich' ME1 character or do some scanning just to get it.

Okay thanks for clarifying.

In Playthrough 1 my character already has used Advanced Training to gain Incendiary Grenade, Flashbang was also available.

So he would gain another skill of my choosing based on who was loyal when I started playthrough 2 and I'd still retain Incendiary Grenade?

Resources I have plenty of...or atleast I do in ME2 playthough 1. To do a second playthrough of the same character I'd have to re-import my ME1 save again? Not the one I ended ME2 with?

Sorry for all the questions, just making sure I have it all correctly.

(1) only 1 bonus power at a time

(2) import me2 char keeps weapons and skill points but resets all upgrades and para/reg points.

Import me1 again will be like first import except all bonus powers you unlocked will be available like the Guy said earlier.

Also importing a me2 char means that the had guys are at level 30 with their upgrades right from the start. And you don't get to select another bonus weapon on the collector ship
