I've send Mike Laidlaw a message asking about this.
And he said that there is still a save cap, but he does not know if the game needs to be installed.

damn, i hope it's larger than the last time.
like 20, or 30

We had ten before right?
I've send him a message about that too, but haven't heard his reply.

Actually, I had about 16 different origin character saves (all of whom I completed)  and 9 more awakenings saves(all of whom I completed)...so, I think it might within that 20 to 30 save range...judging from previous exp.

So you can have around 20, 25 saves for Origins?
Then I probably lacked memory on my PS 3, I could only have 10 to 15 saves.

ps3 ftw! yes your most likely going to have to install game data that how all ps3 games are i think. if you need room on your ps3 just do some cleaning on ur hard drive if u keep the game save but delete the data you'll make room and obviously keep your save for the next time you want to play. i dont know if there is a limited number of hawkes u can make but if u have hardware space you can make another user for more hawkes.

How big of a harddrive do you have for your PS3? I have one of the original 60 gig models, though I have deleted some games, I'm NEVER planning on playing again...or using old saves for the sequels(unlike DA:O and White Knight Chronicles).

I have one of the older moldels as well.
I believe mine has a 40 or 50 or 60 hard drive, I'm not sure.

Ahhh, I see... those extra 20 gigs can help especially when you want system files of games you are still planning on playing at a later date... I have a 35 gigs free though I will lose some of that once I grab Mass Effect 2 and all the needed DLC for the PS3...

Excuse me for my ignorance, but when did console game not require installation?

Most games for console I played didn't, you only had to make a save file.

Okay. Now I have no idea what you are talking about. Save files are different from booting up the game. Unless you're talking about digital download from XBL or PSN?

Until this generation of consoles we haven't had to install games before,  but now, as consoles become more and more like computers installation is possible. Most games it is still optional,  but the larger games... or at least games with more options seem to require it to be installed directly onto the hardrive now.

.... I'm only 28. Wow. Technology.

Not a console user I imagine? Since the PS3 and the big Xbox 360 update, most of the bigger games will require an install (atleast of ps3, most 360 games are optional).

That's so goddamn weird.

Did I misread your question?  I'm sorry...  kind of dense sometimes.

No, it's just that.... I'm not that old and tech that I grew up with is getting to a level where it boggles my mind. It's changing so drastically.

Well I've had to delete a lot of other games last year to install new ones.
Also, if you delete a game, can the saves for that game still be used if you re-install a game?

Yes, they can, that's why I can still play games like Heavenly Sword and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune...that I only just got again after about 3 years of waiting for them to drop down to a reduced USED price.

I'm going the oposite side here and say most every ps3 game i own(and that's alot) has an instalation on it, only recent game that didn't was castlevania lords of shadow (quite excellent by the way)

The actual size wouldn't be 7 gb though i thiiiiink, the highest ever only hits atound 5+ GB (not including DLC and update files)

last i heard it usualy(but not always?) for cutting down load times, there's a few examples fior certin 360 games that load slower uninstalled vs ps3 versions, the opposite being bayonetta loads faster on 360 cause it installs while originally the ps3 version had no install and was infamous long on load times

and to avoid making this 100% polite, raziel3080 you bought heavenly sword? so you're basicly telling everyone here you prefer to use your ps3 as a toilette then a game system
