Is it too much to ask for a happy ending?

I've been browsing these fourms for a while and it seems like alot of people want an ending to ME3 where Shepard dies giving the ultimate sacrafice. I myself would rather enjoy an ending where pregnant LI and Shepard look off into the sunset... Or something like that. The question I ask you is would you rather have an upbeat happy ending, or a more dark and sinister ending.

PS: First post for me so yeah nice to meet you all. Posted Image

Mass Effect 3 will be the end of the main Mass Effect trilogy and the end of the story of Commander Shepard. Add to that the fact that you can end up with so many multiple decisions combos and so can probably guess that the game will have many, many different endings. Since it's the end of the Mass Effect trilogy, I want as many endings as possible.

That includes a happy-happy-weed-smoking-fantasy land ending where everyone survives and the galaxy is saved.

:)

Yeah, I would assume that it is safe to say that ME3 will have many diffrent endings. I'm just afraid for some reason BW will make it a super cliche hero dies ending.

Well lets hope Bioware want to keep a lot of people happy, I understand those who want the ultimate sacrifice, I'm partial to it myself, but I would also like a happy ending, not so much looking into the sunset though, more like get plastered with my squadmates while the citadel is lit up with a fireworks display..

You're not alone; I want a happy ending as well. I'm hoping for multiple endings but I'm hoping for one ending where everyone lives and you get to stay with your LI. I'm hoping they don't make an LI break up with you in the epilogue. Even if there is an option to have an ultimate sacrifice I would never take that ending.

Dunno what forums you've been browsing because the 'ultimate sacrifice' style ending is quite unpopular.
The majority seem to want a happy children's story like ending where [if you're paragon] everything works out.

I personally want multiple endings where there is consequences for each major choice you made throughout the entirity of the trilogy.

Come to think of it, I wonder if there will be endings depending if you are male or female.

Same if you are paragon or renegade.

I want a realistic ending, one that reflects what Shepard has gone through. If that means he/she ends up in an apt in Illium renting blue call girls and sucking down whiskey, so be it. War can do that to a person.

I just don't want a tidy ending.

I have no problems with a dark ending as long it makes sense for the story and isn't forced in.

That said, the idea of my Shepard uniting the galaxy, enabling the destruction of the Reapers and ultimately skipping off into the sunset with Kaidan thrown over her shoulder - well that's pretty nice too.

To be honest, I want all types of endings. I want to replay ME3 at least 10 times to see all different endings, and I would like to have all of them worth it. Sure, that's a lot to ask for, but I guess it doesn't really matter as long as any of the endings (even if there is only one) is absolutely the greatest possible thing BioWare can come up with.

Happy endings are fine, sure. But I also want to see an ending where say, the Reapers win. Or Shep dies defeating the last Reaper, above the last planet that contains sentient life that hasn't been laid to waste.

I know BioWare, these are lofty demands, so no pressure!

Yeah as long as its not some generic sh*t like this:
"Sir we need to leave now if we want to get out of here!"
"No, there are too many of them (insert orcs, zombies, alien, Russians (sorry Russians, you guy get to always be the bad guy in American games), etc.). You'll never get to the choppers."
"I'm coming with you."
"No, your death would accomplish nothing. I have made mistakes that's why (insert random name) didn't make it. I know what I must do" (Queue soft music that will build to epic proportions)
"No! We're not leaving without you!"
"Go! That's an order!" (This guy tells chopper pilot to leave without him)
"No! Wait.."
"Tell my wife that I love her" (helicopter or equivalent vehicle's door close and it starts to take off)
Bad Ass guy turns and slowly walks away. Other guy screams from inside chopper
Now epic scene commences where the badass dude kills about 1000 people before running out of ammo and then using duel knives with speed up film to kill 1000 more peopl until the last bad guy turns and unloads like a whole clip of pistol rounds into badass dude who then stumbles into the last bad guy and precedes to use all of his strength to plunge a knife into the last bad guy's heart before glancing up to the helicopter and softly smiling before falling down dead.

Soft music now overpowers all other audio except a little bit of radio chatter and well lit shots of the other guy who didn't make the last stand shows him just starting into space and crying softly.

Cut to "2 months later" where the other guy in dress uniform gives eulogy of fallen baddass dude (with one arm in a sling) and breaks down crying on flag draped casket at the end of the speech as the camera looks vertically down on scene and slowly zooms out to sad music, preferably Ave Maria).

BAM CREDITS!

Somewhere in between is preferable. Victory through loss. Bittersweet beats "doom and gloom" or "happy go lucky" endings any day.

Not really, I have seen enough movies and played enough video games to just cranks these babies out! Got to love stereotypical action endings!

I spent to much time saving to many people and solving everyone's problems to not get a gloriously happy ending!

You should be a writer for the next Transfromers movie. Those things don't seem to take too much thought either.
