Bah! We all know circlets and masks are the wave of the future for mage head wear. You guys are so behind with your Blessed Age fashion sense.

On a more serious note I am curious how the hoods will look, especially how they will work with the neckline/rest of the clothing.

I hope it won't turn out to be pointy wizard hat a la Gandafl the grey. Something new would be good.

They're hoods, mostly. I've seen a few skullcaps as well. No pointy hats, though. :)

Thank you so much for that, my mages weren't as powerful as they could be because I just couldn't face the insane look of the hats. A hood wouldn't ruin the aesthetics of the character models, also they're cool - IMO.

Thank you for the update.

Mage beanies for DA3...

pointy hats would look even more idiotic than what we got in DAO

I dunno, I actually like "pointy hats"(not coneheads mind you).  That is not to say that is all I like, but I rather do like them.

Without a cloak. . .I dunno how you could make a mage look good wearing a hood.

I would imagine that circlets and the like would be the best choice for mages aesthetically.

Edit: Finally found the image.

I wonder if our mage hoods will look anything similar to this. If so it could also mean that they won't be simply just a hood but include other elements, ie; that circlet

I think that hoods are a good choice for this game and the world. While pointy hats may work in other settings, they would seem somewhat out of place in Thedas, at least to me. But mostly I think the reason they avoided them is because Hawke is a rather young man/woman. Pointy hats are for old and graying magicians, not a young apostate mage who would probably want to avoid undue attention, at least in the beginning of the story.

Gandalf ( I knew you would say him )
Elminster ( yes cool, sorta... In Baldurs Gate 1-2 Elminster was sorta made fun of for his pointy hat. He was the only one in the games that had one. All others had hoods, robes or cloaks. He was just trying to be different maybe. And well he's Elminster so he can do whatever he wants. )

Other then Elminsters purposefully silly hat, Pointy hats are not cool.

We need access to cloaks, hoods, and masks. Put those together on the same mage and sprinkle some black in there and you got a bada** mofo.

I totally approve, Tiax.

As for ridiculous mage hats, this image from the concept art looks strangely familiar...

I'm sure it will be better in DA2, though.

I'm inclined to disagree. Cone hats with wide brims are the height of cool.

Can we get this one? (I know we can't, but I can hope, right?)

I'd like to give my mages circlets, like in Diablo II - very powerful, but small and discreet. And not messing up your carefully-chosen hairstyle.

There was another model of leather armor. I think it was more noticeable on females because it showed midriff.
