Not to mention watching him fly into the citadel

 I laughed so hard when he bulldozed that Turian ship.

Replaying ME1 makes me realise just how much I miss Sovereign's...presence.

I think it succeeds in being a genuinely threatening and intimidating entity.

In modern entertainment industry there is little to come even remotely intriguing as Sovereign in his whole trancendent presence. Especially THAT one engagement is so magnificiently done, you can almost feel the indoctrinational energy when it is speaking to you. Then comes the magnitude of its power and raw superiourity which is just HINTED at by it just nonchalantly flying THROUGH the Turian cruiser. Like, if that ship wouldn't have been there in the first place. Sovereign doesn't just ram the cruiser, it completely denies its relevance, it's merely "bypassing on a humpy road". Amidst a battlefield no less.

That is the very definition of might.

Yes. Sovereign was terrifying presence indeed. He was a fantastic villian. Personally I think he shouldn't have been destroyed in ME1.

Instead he should have gotten away heavily damaged and slipped away before the Alliance fleet could smoke him. This would have improved ME2 plot greatly. In this alternate plot ME2 would be Shepard tracking down Sovereign who is trying to find an alternative root to bringing the repears back. In the end Shepard would have destroyed Sovereign but not before he activated some kind of device that allows the repears to return in a few years. This plot in my opinion would have been better because it ties in with ME1 alot more seemlessly and it makes more sense than ME2's plot.

In ME2 they tell you lots-o-debris of Sovereign never could be discoverd etc.
So maby, you'll never know!

His voice was cool yes, but as a character it was shallow, too full of him self and didn't really scare me at all.

It's the metallic tone that makes Sovereign's voice so cool.  Harbinger, besides all the dialogue problems, just had a deep voice.  The metallic quality of Sovereign made his voice sound much more mechanical and creepy and fitting of the Reapers.

Well Sovereign's arrogance is completely justifiable considering he and his ilk had already completed their genocidal cycle for at least 37 million years without any real disruption.  When you realize the reapers have been at this for so long and have been so successful at it, their dismissive tone towards life is understandable.  And, this makes their interest in Shepard that much more plausible, considering he basically was responsible for the destruction of one of them.

If Sovereign appeared every 2 minutes shouting cliches at the player it would be totally moronic like Harbinger.

Sovereign=awesome villain
Harbinger=austin powers villain meme-spawning category

They just dont do villains like in the old days.

Sovereigns voice was extremely well done. I still get chills when I hear him say "We impose order on the chaos of organic evolution." :)

What makes Sovereign's voice so intimidating is that metallic hollowness to it. The voice made Sovereign feel completely machine Harbinger's voice was only very deep.

No, it's still been processed beyond just shifting the pitch down.  They just toned it down a lot, likely so you wouldn't go "Oh, that guy sounds just like Sovereign. So, guess he's a Reaper."  It's easier to pick the effect out if you listen the dialogue files on their own.

His voice was awesomesauce. Sounds like Sauron's voice, in that one line he has in Fellowship of the Ring.

I can just hear him saying, "Build me an army worthy of Mordor."
