If dark energy does end up playing a part, you could hardly accuse it of swooping down at the last minute out of nowhere when it was introduced halfway through the story.

Yes we can, unless somebody explains how exactly it could be used to stop them.

You think that you can accuse something of being unexpectedly introduced at the last minute, when it was introduced halfway through the story?
Nevermind the fact that dark energy was introduced in such a way as to always appear likely to play some part in the Reaper's demise.

Even if they don't explain exactly how it's used, at this point it will just be a poorly written ending, not a deus ex machina.

veetor mentioned it when he was scanning the collectors.
and again during talis loyalty

on illium gianna paresinni also mentions an increased intrest in things concerning dark energy

Strictly speaking it wouldn't be, though in practice it largely might (in the sense of pulling entirely new applications out of its ass). Handling and how it's used would matter.

Dark Energy, as an element, has been established. What dark energy does has not. However, having established it's presence now, if ME3 included a build up of the relevance of Dark Energy to the point of we learn why it can be used before it's really used, that wouldn't be a deus ex as much as just a plot reveal.

All we need to make defeating the Reapers believable is to have fleet wide weapon/sheild upgrades and find a way to get through the Reapers sheilds. Once we do that than we can either enter into direct space fights or we could destroy them from the inside. Quickly docking with a Reaper amd destroying its core like we did the Derilict Reaper. In which case having the Krogan might actually be usefull because other than that the only other time you'd have any use for them would be ground assaults but ofcourse if there are ground assaults than obviously we are no longer on the offensive.

Have we learned nothing? The Krogan were already used as disposable shock troops and it was wrong. We can't do the same thing again.

Every specie is going to have their role to play when the Reapers come. The Council races will be fighting in the Citadel fleet they're putting their lives on the line. The Geth will be fighting the Reapers probably on the front lines because I have a strong feeling that they're the strongest individual group. Even the Quaraians who have a fleet of ancient busted ships are willing to fight the Reapers.

The Krogan have no space force the only thing they can do is be shock troops.

The citadel races aren't going to do ****.

The rejects will be the ones to win the war.

Humans (Cerberus)

Krogan

Geth

Quarians

Rachni

Then I'll send the armies to get rid of the council races and take over the galaxy. Happpy ending!

So the key to destroying the reapers is to get inside them?  ;)  Roger that.

vigil mentioned the prothean's theory in ME1 that the reapers go into a hibernation state during much of those 50,000 years in between extinction events, and that they're vulnerable when in said state, so maybe you can go all independence day on them - upload a virus (from an old mac laptop obviously) and trick them into going into hibernation

which to be honest would be lame, i want to blow up a star using dark matter
