Looks like we know who the Signature Edition character is, and he'll be available to everyone else as DLC.

"Adventure alongside Sebastian Vael, an archer of noble birth, as he seeks revenge for the brutal murder of his family. Aid him in his quest, and direct his righteous wrath on your enemies. Sebastian is a full companion character, complete with his own series of side missions. Gain the prince’s allegiance as part of The Exiled Prince downloadable pack included in the BioWare Signature Edition, or available separately for $7 or 560 Microsoft Points." ~ Bioware

"The Exiled Prince introduces the noble archer Sebastian Vael, with players joining him in the middle of his quest to avenge the brutal murder of his family. Sworn to the priesthood as a boy, Sebastian is forced to re-enter the viper's nest of princely politics when his family is brutally murdered, leaving him as the sole surviving heir. Banding together with Sebastian and his unshakable loyalty and excellent aim, players will choose to either avenge Sebastian's murdered family to reclaim his title or direct his holy vengeance on their enemies in Kirkwall. In addition to this action-packed storyline, players will also be able to enlist Sebastian as a follower throughout a majority of Dragon Age II." ~ The Escapist

Here's his original character trailer, and some screenshots from it:

If you don't mind possible SPOILERS, here is a more recent trailer.

What do you think of him? And try to be on-topic/civil.

Also, I come to notice "quests" as a plural as well. does that means that our companions will have more than a single personal quest as well? (which is pretty awesome if y' ask me.)

Yes, all companions have multiple personal quests. This includes Sebastian.

The bonus with this character is that every time someone says his name, Seb Hanlon gets to cringe. Dołączona grafika

I wonder who's the writer of Sebastian?

That would be Jennifer Hepler.

And for those who were asking, the woman in the video is Grand Cleric Elthina. The scene takes place outside of the Kirkwall Chantry.

Another would be prince? Am I the only one seeing the similarity of the characters? Isabella seemed like a Zevran clone in DAO. We have a redhead of Orlisian decent. And a tattooed male elf that's possibly bisexual. I'm not saying they're exactly the same I know nothing of their personality. (well I know a bit about Isabella) I'm just saying I see similarities.

One can make comparisons between almost anything, sure, so long as the comparisons are superficial and any differences are ignored. I'm not sure we could create something that wouldn't, at least on the surface, be comparable to something else in the genre (no matter how much of a stretch that might be).

Thankfully, Sebastian's about as alike to Alistair as Aveline is to Leliana.

Like Jaulen already said, Monaco is a city state and still has its own royal family. Europe also used to have parts that were similar to the Free Marches. Several different states collected under a single nomme de guerre.

Yes. I didn't realize principalities were so unknown. Go figure.

As for the accent, it's definitely Scottish. Spoken by a VA from Scotland and everything.

Not so much "cringe" as "spin around in his chair before realizing they're talking about DLC". Also, there was a time where bugs related to Sebastian and his content got assigned to me to fix, entirely on the strength of the name. /sigh.

The Bioware boards should offer themselves for hire as private investigators.

Evidently, if we suddenly guess something out of the blue, we can scare them into confirming things.

I vote we all just start spewing nonsense until someone hits gold. Shakespeare and monkeys, and all that.

Yes. All of you should start spewing nonsense. Start that. Dołączona grafika

I have the same issue with Sten. Talking about Lothering during Dragon Age Origins sometimes got confusing.

For those who were curious, I wrote the Dwarf Commoner, Orzammar and the Deep Roads, and some early bits of the Landsmeet for Origins. And Bethany. And some guy they haven't announced yet. And a lot of mage plots. Howdy.

So this time, even if we buy the full retail, but non-Signature Edition, game brand new from a retailer, we have to pay extra to get Shale.

Fantastic.

Unless you pre-order before the 11th, that is. Which is, in fact, a period of time inclusive of now.

Just sayin'.

If you want to find out if Sebastian's a love interest, you'll just have to pick all the flirt lines and see what happens...

I'm sure many people feel the same way. I'd be interested in seeing it done just to what it's like. Surely someone finds American accents exotic in the way North Americans see European accents.

Wouldn't that be roughly similar to the Xena or Hecules TV series? Fantasy complete with California accents?

Wait a second! There are flirt  lines?

*tries really hard not to get her hopes up*

I recall a dev saying a while back that there are designated 'flirt' lines (complete with unique flirt icon, heavens knows what that is). Presumably ths was done to stop people falling into accidental romances, as happened a lot in Origins.

You can join the club of anticipating individuals; we wait with baited breath.

The flirt icon looks like this: <3 It's also documented in the manual.

So is Alec Newman the other VA that you specifically requested?

Nope. Caroline sent me a demo tape with Alec's voice and said "OMG find a role for him"-- so we did. :)

Sebastian's voice actor is really quite fantastic, I will say that.

He nails all the emotional moments quite well.

Let's keep the 'female gamers like THIS and male gamers like THIS' talk out of this thread, shall we?

Alright, people, while it may be fun to jump to conclusions (particularly as we've yet to publicly announce all companions, nevermind which ones are romanceable), we are moving rather far off the subject of Sebastian Vael.

If you wish to discuss romances in general, this is not the thread for it.

And while I'm here, I'll say again, let's cut the casual sexism of 'women are like THIS and men are like THIS'.

Indeed. Sebastian has a completely unique model, though there might certainly be some design elements which are similar to other kinds of armor.

Sebastian has full dialogues and a follower approval arc, just like the other party members.
