Serves people right for moping about the DAO companions not returning.

Some of the DLC made me realize that it was best to just let them go...

That said, small snippets of back story don't really give us any idea of the depth of the character at all.  They may be fleshed out wonderfully, or not at all. We won't know until we actually play it through.  Seb here may be very interesting.  Wish it were coming out for my birthday next month instead of March though :D

As for the brooding, vengeful, recently orphaned trope... well, they want you to be the hero in the end grouped up with an assortment of people who should have no problem killing.  True they could have picked an exceptionally handy pig farmer who got tired of making bacon, but vengeful rich looks better in armor.

Also true that they could just pick a bored housewife sick of their family throwing reds into the laundry whites, who takes to the local taverns to pick up a bit of excitement and learns how to dual wield from some assassins she befriends... but then why did she leave home to go save the world?  Oh yeah, the assassins came in after she won one too many times at the dice, slaughtering her family leaving her skilled, with a grudge and no family to stick around for.  lol  Just makes their righteous anger easier :P

I will stick around and wait for a simple lunatic who has nothing better to do and likes to set things on fire.  He would be fun. :P

I skipped to :10 (lol) and watched it again. I think I know what you mean. It's looking a little flat and lacks that metallic shine. But I'm sure that'll be put in later.

Would it require that metallic shine if it's leather? Since he's (most likely) a Rogue, the armor is likely to be made out of leather. Unless it's been through some heavy treatment, leather generally doesn't fall into the shiny category.

Lol. I guess what I meant was that the graphics are looking fantastic, way better than origins, but there's something missing that's a bit hard to explain. It has more of a painterly feel to it, but with a bit more shine, it'd really pop.

And by shine I mean shine where it's appropriate, such as the parts that I assume are metallic on his bow, the knuckle spikes (:22), and especially the buckle and leather strap at :24.

Also there's the aliasing effect on his forehead, which I'm sure won't be there when the game is closer to release.

So yeah, I'm sure that this isn't it and that the actual game will look much nicer.

whoa... we get to see a grand cleric

I'm fairly sure we've already seen a grand cleric.  Wasn't the lady who spoke out during the landsmeet saying how mistreatment of the templars would not go unforgotten the grand cleric of Denerim?  She's the same one who presides over the coronation at the end of the game.  (I believe the fancier chantry robes, in a golden hue and with more details, are the grand cleric robes.)

I believe it too, don't see any reson why a simple sister should be in the landsmeet.... though I prefer the new grand cleric's robes. The fereden oens are way too generic.

Remember that drawing challenge to fill in the bonus character? Someone needs to fill it in with Seb now. :D

now i remember, she was the one who said to resolve things with a duel at the landsmeet.

Another would be prince? Am I the only one seeing the similarity of the characters? Isabella seemed like a Zevran clone in DAO. We have a redhead of Orlisian decent. And a tattooed male elf that's possibly bisexual. I'm not saying they're exactly the same I know nothing of their personality. (well I know a bit about Isabella) I'm just saying I see similarities.

One can make comparisons between almost anything, sure, so long as the comparisons are superficial and any differences are ignored. I'm not sure we could create something that wouldn't, at least on the surface, be comparable to something else in the genre (no matter how much of a stretch that might be).

Thankfully, Sebastian's about as alike to Alistair as Aveline is to Leliana.

Gaider, we're getting awfully tired of your always writing characters with two eyes! And they always have voices too! It's like they're all the same character!

I don't think that they'd post "Kill the Arishok that killed our Viscount" on a chanters board.

Why not; if there's one thing you can count on, it's sooner or later some greatly OP bunch of adventurers is going to roll through town and clear out every task posted, for the xp and few gold. Regardless how menial or difficult it is.

If I recall Mr. Gaider wrote a beholder character/companion for BG2 that kept getting bounced at the last minute from games/expansions etc.  (One good reason why the "evil" DLC is not all bad, if they had it back then to any great degree we probably would have had that beholder at one time or another.)

He's not the Viscount's son, the surnames are different, and I don't think that as soon as we arrive to Kirkwall we have to face the qunari. Plus if it was really fort the assasination of the Viscount by the qunari, I don't think the grand cleric would be so upset.

Seconded. If one of the companions that are yet to be revealed isn't a Qunari Mage (mute, thanks to the whole no-tongue thing) that we encounter just after it's been blinded in a fight with Templar forces, I'm going to cancel my order of the Special Edition and refrain from buying the game entirely, because excluding such a unique type of character is a clear sign of lacking originality on the writing team.

Happened in my town, left thousands without work.

Besides, sometimes it is the writing that makes something work.  And implausible CAN be highly entertaining.  I am excited to see what they come up with myself.

In the spirit of Indigo Montoya I give you implausible that works:  clickme

Most of us thought archer or guy with a mace. We couldn't tell what it was wearing, but we could see the outline of the weapon.

Well I'm holding off on preordering a second SE for sure, until they announce a romanceable Darkspawn companion. Maybe a Broodmother.

Like I saw how crazy people went over the lady with the three breasts in Total Recall, just think of the reaction to a Broodmother with about 20 like in Awakening?

Think it's something to do with how the lighting is set up in that scene and how it's rendered. Not seeing any specular lighting on the armour for example, and there's very high ambient combined with some low placed light which isn't something you see often outside of Boris Karloff movie.

Ha, this is cool to find out first thing in the morning! He seems like an interesting character. I may not use him much though... I mean c'mon, he's competing with Varric for the archer slot. That's stiff competition.

I'm sure it's already been asked dozens of time by now, but I wonder what he's the exiled prince of?

Bahaha, my main team (from the looks of it now) is going to be three rogues and a mage. Sigh. I'm not leaving Varric at home. No way, no how.

Well that's marvelous because I certainly did not want Sebastian whining about a holes in his clothing or lost socks.

All joking aside, the reveal of yet another Rogue has me a bit irked and even more hopeful.  In Dragon Age Origins, we had two mages, two rogues, three warriors, one dog, and one golem.  If we have three rogues, that could imply that we may have a few more companions in Dragon Age 2.  More party members is certainly plus both gameplay wise and story wise.

unknown, though it might a place with some influence since we see him talking with the grand cleric herself
