Serves people right for moping about the DAO companions not returning.
Some of the DLC made me realize that it was best to just let them go...
That said, small snippets of back story don't really give us any idea of the depth of the character at all. They may be fleshed out wonderfully, or not at all. We won't know until we actually play it through. Seb here may be very interesting. Wish it were coming out for my birthday next month instead of March though
As for the brooding, vengeful, recently orphaned trope... well, they want you to be the hero in the end grouped up with an assortment of people who should have no problem killing. True they could have picked an exceptionally handy pig farmer who got tired of making bacon, but vengeful rich looks better in armor.
Also true that they could just pick a bored housewife sick of their family throwing reds into the laundry whites, who takes to the local taverns to pick up a bit of excitement and learns how to dual wield from some assassins she befriends... but then why did she leave home to go save the world? Oh yeah, the assassins came in after she won one too many times at the dice, slaughtering her family leaving her skilled, with a grudge and no family to stick around for. lol Just makes their righteous anger easier
I will stick around and wait for a simple lunatic who has nothing better to do and likes to set things on fire. He would be fun.
