Maybe he is from Par Vollen -> family killed by qunari perhaps?
Gives a reason why he might be/come to Kirkwall, he might be hunting the qunari that killed his family.
Just speculation of course, but its certainly interesting.

You may call Qunari many things, but assassins isn't one of them.

And they took Par Vollen about two centuries ago (with hardly any humans there), it would be odd to call yourself an exiled prince.

He could have been an Antivan, that had to flee from Antiva as a child (thus having the accent), but Free Marches seems most likely.

All joking aside, the reveal of yet another Rogue has me a bit irked and even more hopeful.  In Dragon Age Origins, we had two mages, two rogues, three warriors, one dog, and one golem.  If we have three rogues, that could imply that we may have a few more companions in Dragon Age 2.  More party members is certainly plus both gameplay wise and story wise.

You've made me hopeful too! The only possible down side of having more companions is that they may have less depth than they did in Origins due to time and money constraints.

Though, as mentioned in the Gaider interview thread, they saved time and money by focussing on one main character, so maybe they had more time and money for the companions.

Yesssss. Now I'm even more hopeful!

I'm hearing Scottish too. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I guess I just wouldn't think someone would consider themselves royalty and use a title like 'Prince', when they just rule a city. Considering history, I'm sure that was a silly thing to assume.

Like Jaulen already said, Monaco is a city state and still has its own royal family. Europe also used to have parts that were similar to the Free Marches. Several different states collected under a single nomme de guerre.

Wow! I like what I've seen so far. And I'm getting giddy over the fact that companions have more than one sidequest. And the atmosphere in the video is great. I'm loving the colors. Looks great.

I'm a little disappointed though. I had my hopes that Arvid the tap dancing squirrel would be the secret companion of awesomeness. :crying:

Yes. I didn't realize principalities were so unknown. Go figure.

As for the accent, it's definitely Scottish. Spoken by a VA from Scotland and everything.

Another thing. At the end it says the price for Sebastian, and then in big bold letters FREE WITH SIGNATURE EDITION.

Maybe this is just me being dense, but does that really mean that only those of us who preordered SE get him for free, or is he also like Shale, and free for anyone that buys a new copy?

From RL Stevenson's "The Black Arrow":

"I had four blak arrows under my belt,
Four for the greefs that I have felt,
Four for the nomber of ill menne
That have opressid me now and then.

One is gone; one is wele sped;
Old Apulyaird is ded.

One is for Maister Bennet Hatch,
That burned Grimstone, walls and thatch.

One for Sir Oliver Oates,
That cut Sir Harry Shelton’s throat.

Sir Daniel, ye shull have the fourt;
We shall think it fair sport.

Ye shull each have your own part,
A blak arrow in each blak heart.
Get ye to your knees for to pray:
Ye are ded theeves, by yea and nay!

"JON AMEND-ALL

of the Green Wood,

And his jolly fellaweship.

hopefully we get 3 warriors and mages in DA2, I like Aveline and Fenris, but I want another warrior. For now they've announced 4 companion , plus a sibling and bonus companion. I think another 3 companions are possible.

We have three warriors.

The cast so far is...
*[Mage] Bethany (Exclusive to Warrior/Rogue Hawke)
*[Warrior] Carver (Exclusive to Mage Hawke)
[Warrior] Aveline
[Warrior] Fenris
[Rogue] Varric
[Rogue] Isabela
[Rogue] Sebastian

Only mage hawke will have carver, and we don't know if he's a full companion. I really hope so, but we don't have any security about that.

I think we can all agree...

The next companion reveal better not be a rogue. -_-

*suprise rogue * Just kidding but yes from the cast as of now looks like there already is enough rogues haha.

Ancient Greece used to be a collection of City States too....

But now I'm wondering if he is from the Free Marches....since the impression I got was that he came to the Free Marches to look for the assasians that were hiding out there.

I really like his voice.

Sebastian sounds like Scottish actor Alec Newman (Paul Atreides in the Dune miniseries)

I love him! He's an archer/rogue (which is always awesome), has a cool armor design, an awesome accent. Love it. Absolutely love it. Soooooo glad I pre-ordered. Only companion that's drawn me in thus far. Nice work, BW :)

Indeed.  In fact, a coastal area with lots of independent but loosely linked city states is where I run my main D&D campaign (Wizard's Reach in FR).  These little states are lots of fun, because you have room to do something that really affects the local area in profound ways without necessarily being totally word-changing.  (I have to confess that I've been ticking off boxes on the similarities between what's been released of DA2 and the backstory of my campaign.  There really are only so many classic story structures - it's how one uses them that matters.)

I'll take this as confirmation that Sebastian is from the Free Marches. Thank you kindly for the clarification. ;)

Not that there was really much doubt. The story takes place in the Free Marches, composed of a ton of little kingdoms, and we have an exiled prince. OH WHERE COULD HE COME FROM.

I'm not sure but I'd like to know. It hasn't been said that only SE preorders get him free so it's quite possible that he could be like Shale.

Will there be proper conversations with Sebastian where Hawke will speak as well or will it be like Zaeed/Kasumi in ME2 where we clicked on objects around them and listened to what they say with no dialogue selected?

I was under the impression that people who order the SE get him free....and that in the future you'll have to buy him as DLC.

His voice is okay, but delivery could be less wooden. And I ope that's the console version they took the footage from, because the angular faces, bad lip sync and drab environments look bad.
