He's DLC/optional. It's highly, highly unlikely.MindRaven wrote...

Hahaha, yeah. I was like, "Ooh, shiny. Looks interesting. I bet everyone's going to want some tent time with hi -- OH. DLC. Nevermind."
Yeah, because tent time with two princes in two consecutive games would have been too much.
... Not really. Why, BioWare, why? You always leave the most interesting stuff out.
Isn't that why the fantasy genre was invented? To get tent time with princes and princesses?
Probably not going to happen.... He is a DLC character so we will probably get Shale like dialogue.Awesomechck wrote...
Here, I can be the fan girl's squealing! Loved Allister as a romance partner; I'm hoping we will get a charming, but dense guy again! He doesn't seem like it, but still... fingers crossed!
I have the same issue with Sten. Talking about Lothering during Dragon Age Origins sometimes got confusing.Seb Hanlon wrote...

Yes, all companions have multiple personal quests. This includes Sebastian.
The bonus with this character is that every time someone says his name, Seb Hanlon gets to cringe.
Not so much "cringe" as "spin around in his chair before realizing they're talking about DLC".

And that completes my selection of awesomesauce replies for this thread. So far.Seb Hanlon wrote...

was a time where bugs related to Sebastian and his content got assigned
to me to fix, entirely on the strength of the name. /sigh.

What does this guy offer, gameplaywise, that another archer doesn't?
That's ridiculous. People who aren't ordering the SE don't necessarily have no faith in the BioWare team. They're waiting for more information, which is only logical if you're not entirely sure about a game. It's not a fan betrayal; it's being smart with one's money. Personally, I ordered the SE, but I don't think that makes me a more loyal fan in any sense. The Lesser Evil wrote...
It's been hoped for, that's for sure. People seem to think he's out because he's a SE Bonus/DLC character, though. I'm not counting him out yet. So people who have faith in the Bioware team and what they'll put out with Dragon Age 2 get a romancable companion for FREE. That actually doesn't sound unfair to me, since the SE costs no more than the regular edition will cost.

So this time, even if we buy the full retail, but non-Signature Edition, game brand new from a retailer, we have to pay extra to get Shale.
Fantastic.
Well, they said long ago that this character will be an exclusive content of the SE. Don't see the reason to put him in the normal version.

For those who were curious, I wrote the Dwarf Commoner, Orzammar and the Deep Roads, and some early bits of the Landsmeet for Origins. And Bethany. And some guy they haven't announced yet. And a lot of mage plots. Howdy.
