It is sad, I've never been one to gripe about graphics seeing as how I have (and I'll assume most of the posters here)seen them evolve into what they are now. How do you go from playing 8 bit to 16bit-24bit to PS1 graphics etc etc only to see something in today's era and complain about graphics? I'd say as long as it doesn't look like something that came outta the early 90's your doing a great job lol and even then I'd prefer great story telling and character development to jaw dropping eye candy, this is why I can still go back and play old games and have fun despite the graphics being "ugly" by today's standards

Well, the way they are advertising Sebastian it appears to be free with the Signature Edition otherwise it's $7, but I haven't actually seen any proof that he is only free with the Signature Edition period. He may come with all new games, but I don't think we will find out until January 12th.Gain the prince’s allegiance as part of The Exiled Prince downloadable

for $7 or 560 Microsoft Points.
That is the exact quote from the website. I do agree that the way Shale was handled as incentive for new-vs.-used game was a good model. Having incentive for pre-orders before a certain date (not just all pre-orders like pre-order incentives from the past worked) is kinda weird. Of course there's no collector's edition either. And there is no information on what pre-orders will have after January 11th (if anything), or what new games will have after March 8th (if anything).
After the 11th, both versions of the game will be available.....with a higher price for the SE version. Preordering gets you a free upgrade....enough of this....there's already a topic about this that has been answered by Bioware.

The issue I have is that one of the big bullet points BioWare has been harping about for DA2 was that they'd improve the graphics. Now they've changed the art style, but I'm not seeing how they've done anything to actually improve the graphics from a technical standpoint. Maybe its noticably better on the consoles compared to Origins, but most of the stuff I've seen thus far reminds me of Origins when you set things on medium or low.
It is mostly the textures that are bad, I think the environment and style looks fine (as in better than origins). I hope that they've bettered them a bit since they made this video to release.
Animations have been a big improvement from Origins thus far though.

I planned to play my first game as a rogue. I like to have one rogue, two warriors, and a mage in my party but I might have to change that with this game. I really like the rogues they have in this game.
PS. Why do people think Merrill is going to be a companion? I didn't hear anything about that.

I thought the reason SHale came included with new copies is becuase she was intented to be an original companion to begin with, but that there were some graphics programming issues with her they couldn't get worked out prior to the game being released....something about not fitting through doors?
Well, I heard that she was content that was cut originally but they were able to sneak her in at the last minute. But I was mainly speaking to the way her release was handled. She was free with the purchase of a new copy of DA, but she cost $15 otherwise. Whether or not it was intentional (and I believe it was) the free addition of a $15 character was incentive to buy new.
Seb is free with a pre-order dated before January 11th. That's an odd window for exclusivity and essentially makes all game purchases/preorders after January 11th on the same level as a used purchase, as both new and used games miss out on this extra content. Regardless of whether you buy new or used, Seb will cost you $7 unless you preorder in the next three days. So there's no incentive to go after a new copy since the used copy is cheaper and both versions will require an additional purchase to get the additional content.
That's the way I look at it, anyway. And this is, of course, assuming that there's not more super secret "new edition" content coming sometime down the road.

But of course I know they're still working on them and really hope they look better than this come March.
That's because they didn't change the art style for technical graphic reasons. They changed it for artistic reasons, to make the game stand out more recognizably, instead of looking like a generic fantasy setting that could be Forgotten Realms or Lord of the Rings..

Our new prince will be available for dlc. Seems to me that Bioware/EA have covered their bases where regardless of a player buying new or used. JMHO.
I think that comment was in comparison to how Shale was handled.
Shale was an incentive for buying DA new, because if you purchased a used copy, she cost $15. Seb is apparently an incentive to pre-order, which leaves buying new on par with buying used, as either way he's going to cost $7 (I think).
So I'd wager that more people would buy used at a lower price point, since there is no apparent incentive to buy new.
TBH, the only reason I buy new for pc games is because I don't won't a disk in my drive that has been run through someone else's system. The extra companion and missions is what sold me on the SE so my incentive was there for me as a player.
As for Shale, if I had bought DAO used, I would never spend $15 on dlc. I thought that price was steep. I love Shale as a character and find her interesting, she came with my game as a redeem code for the CE. As I already said, there is no way I would have paid $15 bucks for her. No way.

Alistair was partially exiled fi I remember correctly. Amon or whatever was his name's wife was disgusted with him and exiled him from the noble house. The same thing happened to him partially because of the king, since he made a bastard son and Alistair wasn't welcomed on the throne. This makes him an exiled prince in some sort of weird circomstances. He's still of royal lineage.

Well, I'd agree that the animations and "cinematic" nature of the scene looked good. The facial animations leave something to be desired, what with the dead eyes and all just sort of blankly staring through people.
The environment didn't look bad from a visual standpoint in that you had some moss on the walls and all that, but maybe its due to a lack of lighting or maybe its symptomatic of the visual style, but since some colors seem like they had teh contrast blasted up, it throws off any lighting that might be going on.
But again, if the textures stay looking that bad, the whole cinematic angle on things doesn't do them any favors as it only serves to highlight the crummy textures as opposed to Origins approach.

Wrong, because the GPS is not normally part of the car. This is like the whole issue with Shale that came up way back when. Shale was finished product when the game released. So is this guy. It's not an add-on. It's not a bonus. They just act like it is. They act like they're doing you a favor. Calling this a bonus is like saying people are lying or telling the truth based on the tone of voice they use while speaking rather than based on the words they say.nightcobra8928 wrote...

Well considering that Sebastian was not originally intended as a main party member character like Shale was (he was built on a seperate budget under DLC instead of main game...Bioware confirmed on another thread) I don't see the problem....
I also don't see the problem with Bioware saying hey! Preorder this game and get the Upgraded version at the Regular version price.....
And the whole idea of Shale having to pay for her if you didn't buy new was...hello piracy and game borrowing! Gives Bioware and EA an avanue to recoup some lost revenue....

Also on the love interest topic, if he is an LI (which I don't think he will be, more's the pity because I do love to perv over pixels and his pixels are rather dashing) it's even more unlikely he will be the m/m option.
