Oh, I agree completely.

Still, I don't think it changes the fact that if "The Lord of the Rings" had been made entirely with American actors using their American accents most of the audience would have been put-off. ^_^

That's why I like the fact that Dragon Age uses many accents.

One of my favorite tropes: The Queen's Latin. Because Hollywood is the most prevalent movie industry in the Western world, and because American filmmakers make movies primarily for American audiences, an English accent sounds correctly "foreign" for any period fantasy.

I'm sure many people feel the same way. I'd be interested in seeing it done just to what it's like. Surely someone finds American accents exotic in the way North Americans see European accents.

Wouldn't that be roughly similar to the Xena or Hecules TV series? Fantasy complete with California accents?

Well, it would be just as odd if they had English accents.

another human... I already surrounded by a few billion... didn't need another... especially with a purebred ego to accompany him...

His quests may sway me. We shall see.

Where is that accent supposed to be from (Thedas-wise)? Another part of the Free Marches?

Well, it seems to be Scottish (or Irish, I've very bad at distinguishing between them sometimes...), so *presumably* that would make him a Free Marchian, assuming they have similar accents to Ferelden, for example.

Moreso Irish than Scottish, if you care for me to let you know. Scottish is much thicker

Vael seems like a cool character, like all rebellious archers he reminds me of Robin Hood, (in some of the storys Robin Hood is noble aswell I believe)

According to my friend in Belfast (and the plethora of people from Europe that came through the hostel I used to work at) the American accent just sounds "arrogant."

I thought this was very strange; how could an accent sound inherently like anything? Then I rememberd that, to some American ears, the "default" English accent sounds stuffy and sort of superiour. So I suppose it makes some sort of sense.

Or Evil Guys = British while Good Guys = American.

Oh, you're right.

It's been so long since I've seen Xena, I'd forgotten it.

It's a fantasy setting. Not real. The characters can have any accent they want, as far as I'm concerned.

Besides, then you'd have to complain about Antivan characters having Spanish accents when Antiva is actually loosely based on medieval Italy.

*giggle*  Now I'm imagining Sebastian as someone from Orange County, Varric as a surfer, and Aveline as a Valley girl.

Why has no one pointed out the official description of him yet?

"The Exiled Prince
" introduces the noble archer Sebastian Vael, with players joining him in the middle of his quest to avenge the brutal murder of his family. Sworn to the priesthood as a boy, Sebastian is forced to re-enter the viper's nest of princely politics when his family is brutally murdered, leaving him as the sole surviving heir. Banding together with Sebastian and his unshakable loyalty and excellent aim, players will choose to either avenge Sebastian's murdered family to reclaim his title or direct his holy vengeance on their enemies in Kirkwall. In addition to this action-packed storyline, players will also be able to enlist Sebastian as a follower throughout a majority of Dragon Age II."

It clearly points out his noble origin in kirkwall and that he's essentially part of the priesthood which would explain why he is talking to the Grand Cleric Elthina about the revenge of his family.
Which makes me wonder why is such a character who is so important on first glance a DLC extra?

Yes, there are. Let's just hope they aren't as bad as the ones in ME2.

I recall a dev saying a while back that there are designated 'flirt' lines (complete with unique flirt icon, heavens knows what that is). Presumably ths was done to stop people falling into accidental romances, as happened a lot in Origins.

You can join the club of anticipating individuals; we wait with baited breath.

No wonder I enjoyed throughly kicking and owning Hercules( Kevin Sorbo's) tail in God of War 3. ;):innocent:

I also watched both...all the til the end of each series in fact...though Xena mostly because I thought Lucy Lawless was HAWT!

On the subject of flirtlines...how the hell do you accidentially stumble/fall into a relationship...I saw it a MILE away when any of the characters were flirting with me..or when a particular line seemed a little too flirtatious for it's own good...Hell, I even though about using some of those lines myself...

i thinks it's more that his enemies are now stationed in kirkwall rather than sebastian originating from kirkwall.

and about his priesthood...maybe he was kind of a protegé of the grand cleric?

It's probably too late in this conversation to post, but I'm really impressed by cinematic shown in the trailer. If the conversations and cutscenes are all that high quality, this is going to be amazing.
