Hum. Interesting, and plausible. I'm not sure I'd like where that would lead, however. Which would seem to be in the direction of romances being DLC only.

I'd imagine that would only happen if it was proven that romance DLCs would be very profitable. I know many forum goers would be thrilled at the idea of a Sebastian (or whomever else appropriate) romance DLC, but I'd wonder about the general audience, who are probably much more casual players.

I like the idea of him having a wife or sweetheart or whatever back wherever he came from that he's true to (that is, of course, assuming that the "family" that was murdered was referring to his parents/siblings, and not his own family, wife and children and such).

Anyway, above all I like the idea that you can sort of make overtures in that direction even toward characters who aren't romanceable. After all, Hawke would have no idea Sebastian wasn't romanceable unless she asks. This post on the topic gives me hope in that regard:

I would agree.

I don't quite remember any recent Bioware games in which the player is allowed to show romantic interest in a character who is not attracted to the player character in any way.

I love bumpy noses. All of my Shepards and Wardens have bumpy noses unless I intentionally set out to change that.

I guess I'll add this to Varric's chest hair, Isabela's boots (or lack of pants), Fenris' hair (or lack of shoes if his design stays true to the concept art), Aveline's muscles (or her head band?), Bethany's neck-bandanna and Carver's... sleevelessness?

I love little quirks like these.

I'm also glad to hear that we can flirt with characters who are (probably) not romanceable. At least Hawke will be able to make her interest known, even if Sebastian is married or engaged or gay or celibate or just not interested in her.



The Warden in my icon pined stoically after Sten through DAO; I wish there'd been an option for her to tell him how she felt even though he'd have been confused or offended by her declaration of love and promises to find a stepladder ASAP.
