I take it the thread has been overrun, and meaningful discussion on C-Bass other than "Will we be able to press our slimy, mucus-covered lips against his" has become unsuitable?

I did lol at aimo's drawing, though.

It's funny you should say that because I lost my lips in a tragic accident and had them replaced with banana slugs.

Oh no, this is so embarrassing.
I'm sure making out with you would prove to be a highly exotic experience, though.

*sigh* I also fear, the Prince is not romancible. What a dissapointment for a girl! I can just see my Hawke pining over this nose for a whole decade.

I was so happy when I saw the reveal of Sebastian, or C-Bass lol,'s character! It perked me right up in time to write tons of essays for school! >< bummer, lol. Anyways, I think his character looks interesting from what little we know and I love the accent.

I just hope we can acquire him early on so that way he can be in the party longer and we get to hear the party banter with him. Looks fun!

Priesthood - Oh no. Hope he doesn't take the vows seriously.

 I think this is my favorite post of the day.

I'm more worried he'll be hatin' on a mage Hawke. <_< Sort of a mood-killer to hear, "You there! What are you doing out of your tower?"

If that isn't the perfect scenario for angsty fanfic then I don't know what is.

Who with the skillz is up for making us some of our first Seb Vael fanart then?

If I must!

THAT'S FANTASTIC! <3 The thread just got 100% cooler B)

Any chance the OP could edit in the fanart? Because that would be all kinds of awesome. (Sorry if someone's already asked this ... I'm catching up on the thread chronologically from where I left it last night - only got this far so far.)

He doesn't seem to care about the priest schtick much. I mean he's prowling the Free Marches pumping people full of arrows for chrissake.

I suspect he was priest'd because he was not the first child. It was the standard procedure in medieval Europe: the first-born (male) inherited the land and titles, while his siblings were stuck with becoming priests or mercenaries.

So he's probably not the religious sort. At least, not in a molest-mage-Hawke kind of way.

sebastian's description:

"The Exiled Prince" introduces the noble archer Sebastian Vael, with players joining him in the middle of his quest to avenge the brutal murder of his family. Sworn to the priesthood as a boy, Sebastian is forced to re-enter the viper's nest of princely politics when his family is brutally murdered, leaving him as the sole surviving heir. Banding together with Sebastian and his unshakable loyalty and excellent aim, players will choose to either avenge Sebastian's murdered family to reclaim his title or direct his holy vengeance on their enemies in Kirkwall. In addition to this action-packed storyline, players will also be able to enlist Sebastian as a follower throughout a majority of Dragon Age II.

Right, I've made it as far as pg 32 (I'm trying folks, honest).

So, have we noted how it says "players will choose to either avenge Sebastian's murdered family
to reclaim his title or direct his holy vengeance on their enemies in
Kirkwall"
? I take it this will be the decision we make in order to take either the friendship or rivalry path with him. If we agree to help him avenge his family we have taken the friendship path, if we deny his vengeance he can better assist us on our main story mission(s) in Kirkwall, and thus we have taken the rivalry path with him.

I assume we'll have similar decisions with all party members then. This is both incredibly exciting (replayability shoots through the roof; plus it's great to have to balance these types of moral decisions, especially with characters you form attachments to) AND stressful as all hell — while I love having these sorts of decisions to make, I hate them too because I want to do both things :D

That worries me too. What they men for "a majority of DA2"? It sounds like I'll not be a companion for the entire game.

Well, ten years is a long time. I don't think every companion will stick with you every single day of that period. They migth get a life of their own sooner or later.

This is pretty much what I've been thinking. We might get one or two who stick with us throughout, but it'd probably make more narrative sense to have different followers at different times throughout the game. Perhaps if we enter into a relationship with someone they might get the opportunity to become a more permanent follower and decide not to bugger off back home for 4 years or something. Or maybe the game is constructed around their own stories and we enter their lives when it makes sense in that context. I'm excited to find out, whatever the case may be.

And personally, I've always fancied Bethany/Carver as a temporary party member (the one who does become a party member - obviously the one who doesn't won't be. Obv. statement is Obv.).

I'm also hoping that Scottish accents are frequent in the game, because they're probably my favorite accent next to British (granted, there are a ton of British accents).

Erm ... this is somewhat of a tautology .... a Scottish accent is a British accent.

Pedantry aside all I can say is .

Posted ImagePosted ImageYeah, but it's so distinctive I think of it as a completely different region.  I can't tell the difference between British accents, but I know Scottish accent instnatly.

... If you use English accent instead of British you'll be completely accurate ... simple really. :P The two aren't synonymous:wizard:

Posted ImagePosted ImageOkay, I think I get it.  Maybe.  Britain=entire UK, and English=England but not Scotland.  Either way, I like the accents.

Actually, just to throw another confusing spanner in the works, Britain does not include Northern Ireland, the UK does. The UK is made up of England, Scotland, Wales and NI, or another way of saying it is that the UK is made up of Great Briatin and Northern Ireland. Our official title is 'The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. Britain is just the name for the larger landmass that includes England, Scotland and Wales. (And I'm sure no one needs to explain how Ireland and Northern Ireland are different to each other, and that Ireland is not a part of the UK.)

On his accent, seems to me his place of origin will be like that of various characters, all of whom are in Awakening. For example: Ines - the senior mage from the Fereldan Circle of Magi - who Wynne asks you to find and convince to go to Cumberland. Not sure where such characters hail from.

People have been saying he's got a Scottish or an Irish accent, but I think it's more cockney or perhaps Welsh. cockney being, I guess, a kind of English accent. LOL, cockney is to English as Texan is to American accents. :) Since Fereldan's generally have an English accent, maybe that's where he's from. Wouldn't make sense, but there you go.

Looks like we have 3 more characters yet to be revealed (including the supposed one from Origins).

Origins: 1. Alistair; 2. Morrigan; 3. Dog; 4. Leliana; 5. Sten; 6. Wynne; 7. Zevran; 8. Oghren; DLC. Shale; and Secret Companion. 10 in all if you can't count.

DA2: 1. Varric; 2. Isabella; 3. Aveline; 4. Fenris; 5. ????; 6. ????; 7. ????; DLC. Sebastien; Bethany; and Carver. So 10 companions each.

*facepalm*

His accent IS Scottish. He is voiced by a Scottish VA. This is non-negotiable, it has been confirmed, it is obvious to everyone who is a) Scottish; B) knows Scottish people; c) recognises the Scottish accent; and d) has read the part where his Scottish VA was confirmed.

*hugs*

I think if he is romanceable it'll probably be a short romance like Garrus/Tali from ME2. It was pretty much like:

conv1: "Oh you like me. I'll do some research"

conv2: "The research is going well. You haven't changed your mind have you?"

conv3: "It's the eve of battle... *kiss kiss*

Which I wouldn't mind if it means a DLC character can also be an optional romance.

I wonder when he was exiled? It could have been when he was a child, his scottish accent may not be the accent of his people... just a thought.
