I wonder when he was exiled? It could have been when he was a child, his scottish accent may not be the accent of his people... just a thought.

I don't think he was exiled by his family - just sent for chantry training.  But maybe now if tries to return home (to whatever city-state his family ruled) he would face assassins trying to kill him.  It's not that he's been refused permission to return, but that the consequences of returning are likely to be imprisonment or death.  I believe that counts as exile.  Just my two coppers.

The accent and look of this guy is giving me big Fable/Ivalice Final Fantasy vibes.

I hope he calls Hawke a stupid haggis if we go rivalry with him.

I have a feeling his exile is like this too. If his family has been murdered, chances are another family or the assassins themselves are running the city-state his family used to run. The current rules wouldn't really want a family survivor to return since that would give fire to the Vael Loyalists if there are any and might lead to some civil war which threatens the new ruler.

There's gotta be a twist in the story, though. It's not going to simply be a case of Sebastian identifying those who killed his family, taking them out, and either taking his rightful place as ruler or appointing someone to rule for him.

Some family member who wasn't directly in line to inherit joining the assassins' guild and showing them all the private ways to get in and out of the family's palace/estate, in exchange for ruling from the shadows after the coup? Come on, there's gotta be some betrayal in there somewhere. (Just getting killed by enemies isn't betrayal - you need to trust them first, right?)

Or maybe he discovers that his family were responsible for something awful and those who killed them were simply out for vengeance?

The Bioware boards should offer themselves for hire as private investigators.

Ah... I remember the good old days in the Varric thread when Brian Bloom was suspected of being his VO long before a trailer with his voice was released... But namedforthemoon (and of course us fans) know that Bioware tend to favour those who have worked on their other games (think Carth=Kaidan).

Pretty awesome. Here's hoping he's romancable.

He's DLC, that's a pretty big "No" sign right there.

Hahaha, yeah. I was like, "Ooh, shiny. Looks interesting. I bet everyone's going to want some tent time with hi -- OH. DLC. Nevermind."

And this reminds me of the many guys and girls want to romance Zaeed and Kasumi...

For those who were curious, I wrote the Dwarf Commoner, Orzammar and the Deep Roads, and some early bits of the Landsmeet for Origins. And Bethany. And some guy they haven't announced yet. And a lot of mage plots. Howdy.

Well, in that case, I'd like to thank you for writing my favourite Origin EVAR!:)

First of all: You have my thanks. I really enjoyed the plot around Orzammar and the Deep Roads. Well done. I highly appreciate your work. Posted Image
I hope the Deep Roads in DA 2 are on an equal level. Posted Image

@David Gaider: How’s it going with your third novel?

Back on topic: I really like his accent. It suits to the character.

I have a confession: I don't like the face morphs. They look cartoonish. They remind of the models from the Sims 3. They don't quite "blend" into the face. You have an obvious nose, an obvious face, and obvious eyes, and they look a bit pasted on. All the lines are quite sharp, almost carved and cut, and that seems to be a style choice, but it makes their faces look a tad cartoony.

Am I the only one who thinks so?

The cartoonish impression may be due to lack of texture to the face -- in Sebastian's case at least it's very smooth and yeah, quite similar to that Sims character. Combine that with lack of specular highlights which you'd see on normal human face and the result can be rather artificial.

For little it's worth, DAO face for comparison:

granted, Loghain is older so all wrinkles and such are more pronounced, but even younger characters like Alistair had similarly detailed faces. DA2 seems to be doing away with that.

I don't know, I like the graphic :< Maybe it's because I watch a lot of anime and play a lot of J-RPG, so a cartoonish face don't really bother me.

It doesn't really bother me, but can't say this particular approach they took wins me over, either.

Maybe because when it comes to stylized graphics it's hard to top this, in my mind:

Uh, pretty <3

I only don't like graphics when they try too hard. The DS don't have a giant graphic capacity, but some games insist in trying to make the graphics the more realistic possible, but instead it comes as really ugly.

Does anyone know why the date at the end of Sebastian's character trailer says March 11? Has the release date been pushed back?

I'm a bit late but.... it doesn't?
It says "The Rise To Power Begins March 8th"  then it says to preorder by 1/11/11 to get the free SE upgrade.

-edit-
nvm I just noticed that the OP links to a youtube posting of the UK trailer which does indeed say march 11 whereas the trailer I watched 6 times does not. So yeah. What Maria said.

Exaclty, I'd take POP 2008 artistic style in grahpics over realistic graphics in the fantasy genre anytime, and I really doubt anyone will match the style and feel of the characters and environments in POP 2008, Elika and the Prince just looked plain awesome.

Some of you people are impossible. You sit on here and ***** and moan about not knowing enough about the game, and when they release teasers and things, you complain about the graphics, lack of LI ability, story, and character comparisons. No wonder some of the devs are so frustrated on here. If people spent so much time crapping on things it took me years to complete based on a damn 30 second teaser, I would be frustrated too.

Saibh was really polite when she talked about the graphics. Sebastian is very handsome and it's natural that people want to romance him - in fact, the devs and the "try to flirt with him" are a perfect bait for fangirls (and boys). What I'm trying to say is: nobody must like everything. And it doesn't matter if  you waste all your life doing something, for some people it'll never be good enough.

Comparing BioWare's 'artistry' to Eidos M isn't quite fair. Assassins' Creed 2 and Pop 08 were both the best looking games I'd played the year they came out. They're also doing Deus Ex: HR and the new Lara Croft, which both look great.

The LI and character comparison things are silly, but peope have every right to complain about graphics. I mean that was a teaser inside the game, was it not?

Also, I'm all for defending BioWare and the devs (because I think they deserve it), but I wouldn't say they spent years on DAII.

You know, I do think that's what it is. I think some of it does have to do with the sharpness if their faces, but it mostly has to do with the incredibly clean, cel-like textures. I guess they want the faces to "pop" more, and be less muddy than DAO, but it makes their faces look unreal to me.
