Just from the little I've seen so far, Sebastian Vael reminds me of a cross between Salvator Aurelius (Magister Trilogy by C.S. Friedman) and Oberyn Martell (George Martin).

Oberyn Martell? I don't see the resemblance, to be honest.

 Nice armor.

Now we have two archers (Varic being the other one) and one dual wield rogue. Too many rogues or I'm guessing there would be a lot of companions anyway?

One of my theories is that over 10 years we don't get all of the companions all of the time...

You know, it would actually clear up a lot of pointless (while sometimes extremely amusing) threads of speculation and hope ...  whether people like it or not, in a game where many are *used* to being able to have companions be LI, it is sometimes the absence of the possibility that changes their impressions of the game.

I just started playing Awakening ( yes. I am slow I took a year off for RL projects) and so far at least, it's pretty good.  And while there is some dialogue opportunities, after just how MANY there was in DA:O - the absence of it, or the presence of a lot of canned dialogue is somewhat....jolting? Wrong word there...hmm.

Anyway, my point:  some people will decide that something is "bad or worse" simply because it is different than something that came before it.  Natural reaction.  But I do think that *if* we all could, or choose to, approach DA2 with an open mind we may just come to a conclusion based on what it IS and not based on what it isn't.

We shall see!   The one thing that irked me in DA:O was, in some places, the LIGHTING. In that regard, in 3/4 of what I have seen so far, looks MUCH improved.  The animation appears smoother too, but will have to see more to know for sure.

I'm feeling positive about it anyway. :)

If he were the only archer, people would scream bloody murder. classwise, he has to be redundant.

I'd rather have an arrogant, whining Prince than another cretinous dwarf. Can't they just delete Varric? No, I suppose not.

He is DLC so he shouldn't affect rogue count in general....

Yes he should. Unless Biowre doesn't mind repeating companions looks/playstyles. Anything after the two different types of archers and a dual-wielder would be redundant for Rouges.

All companions won't be available all of the time, so if/when Varric has other business to attend to Sebastian will fill his slot. I don't think any companion will be redundant.

They won't? Do you have a source? I'd like to think all companions would be available all the time when they're with you, as they were in Origins. I believe you can pick them up in their home bases at any time.

Isabela fills the dual-wielding role for Rouges. Varric and Sebastian do the same for archery. There's nothing else left for another Rouge that hasn't already been done by those three.

Anything more is redundant.

Mr.Gaider mentioned in one of threads quite a while ago that occasionally some of the companions might be unavailable, due to story-based reasons. Since the game covers quite a few years and these people supposedly have their own lives too, that's rather reasonable if inconvenient for some players.

You're the second person I've seen say there are too many rogues... (there have probably been more I skipped the first 40 something pages of the thread)
Of the 7 officially confirmed companions we have the exact same number of rogues and warriors.
1: Bethany - Mage
2: Carver - Warrior
3: Varric - Rogue
4: Aveline - Warrior
5: Isabella - Rogue
6: Fenris - Warrior
7:Sebastian - Rogue

So far the melee portion of the party is a LOT more balanced than the party was in Origins where you had 2 rogues and 6 warriors (dog counts!). Specializations should keep them from being redundant the same way they did, to a degree, with warriors in origins.
Hopefully the new balance means rogues will be more than glorified lock picks.

I think the word you're looking for is "jarring."

And who the hell cares if Sebastian is a rogue? For one, he's DLC, which means he's technically optional. For two, we haven't gotten the full list of companions yet, so we very likely be getting more Mages and Warriors in the future.

I seriously think people would be complaining a lot less if we got some Mage confirmations.

Thats what I tried to say earlier....but it depends entirely on diversity of the skill tree. It's kind of hard to say anything about anyones usefulness at this point.

Still making comments about me I see? I'm starting to think you ARE indeed one of those people I was referring to, seeing as how pressed and butthurt you seem to be about the topic.

Once again, I urge you to use the PM button because I don't believe anyone else cares to hear about your messy gossip in a post seemingly unrelated to it now. At this point you're just whining.

What I want to know though is when exactly you'll be able to pick him up. I'd like to know the order of when all the characters come in really. Does he have ties to Lothering or is he strictly a free marches person?

Dude that was 6 pages and 22 hours ago. If you really wanted to take this to PMs you would have pm'ed me instead, but you really just love the attention on yourself and *have* to get the last word don't you?

I can't believe you really back tracked that far just to get a snippy little comment in. Are you seriously that obsessed with me that you took the effort to do that? At this point you are just an attention ****. Take a little of your own advice and stop bothering the rest of us here that actually talk nicely to each other without having to insult other members who they are talking with.

Or if your so keen on this little B.S. arugement continuing, why won't YOU take the initiave to PM me?

Besides, I'm 30 and I still get guessed at 20 fairly often.  My mother, when she was 40, was often guessed to be 30. Age isn't so easy to determine based on a lack of wrinkles.

Yeah I was thinking as much. It also sounds (from the interviews I've seen) that you get all of your companions very early on (year 1 perhaps?) and you grow on your relationships from there. It would be weird to be in year 5 or 7 and come across this guy. It would be hard for me to form a good relationship with him when I already had so much invested with my other characters. Thats one thing I really want to have answered in the next couple weeks.

Yeah, I was actually pretty stunned when I read that the story line takes place over a 10 year period!

I give the characters props though. By year 3 or 4 of being in a damn camp or having to convene in a common room every night, I would be ready to go to everyone's head with an axe.:innocent:

Bored enough to go back 6 pages and quote someone. Keep trying to fool yourself and you'll eventually win, kiddo. :innocent: In the mean time, try to come up with a little more wit to your post instead of posting "butt hurt and tl;dr" over and over. It makes for slightly more interesting conversation when you say something different.

I really hope we get some more battle videos featuring Sebastian in the upcoming weeks.
