So I have a question for the regulars of this forum. For some reason, strategy for both games is grouped into one forum, which is fine so long as someone has played both games. But after seeing a post on the General Discussion forum where someone is playing ME1 for the first time, it occurred to me that it would be rather difficult for a new person to the forums to separate the ME1 strategy threads from the ME2.

So how do people feel about adding a tag to their thread titles? Anyone posting something related to Mass Effect 1 should add [Mass Effect 1] to their thread title.

I should also mention that I do not know what will happen with the strategy forum when we get closer to Mass Effect 3's launch. I suppose it would make sense that the developers then separate the ME3 strategy discussion from the previous two games, but this is months away from being relevant. But it may mean getting into the habit of tagging posts now might make things easier in the future.

Just thought I'd present the idea for discussion is all. So... discuss?

Most times I visit the strategy forum, most topics do actually pertain to ME2 gameplay even without the ME2 'tag', whereas anything I've seen related to ME1 actually has 'ME1' in the thread title (including a topic I posted myself related to ME1).

As for ME3 well I'm guessing it may end up getting it's own sub-forum (announcements, general discussion, gameplay, characters etc) possibly after all the gameplay and character's section were originally together until they were separated months ago.

EDIT: Pacifen were you suggesting just tagging 'Mass Effect 1' for topics, but also tagging 'Mass Effect 2' for the relevant topics?

I think is a good idea. Most threads here are related to ME2 gameplay, so tagging a few won't be that much work, and it would help readability in the future.

I guess the taggin' would be "required" for ME1 topics. The ones without the tag we assume is about ME2

I don't know about the [Mass Effect 2] tag, as the threads in this forum are predominantly about ME2 to begin with, it might as well just be assumed. But this is assuming that the ME3 strategy forum will be separate when that time comes. However, the reason why I wonder about the [Mass Effect 1] tag is that tagging can be very visible. [Mass Effect 1] *Thread Title* stands out whereas *Thread Title with ME1 somewhere in it* does not.



Of course, tags can be used in a variety of ways. People could tag their threads as [Adept] or [Infiltrator], which makes it known very easily what their guide is pertaining to.

Yeah would make sense for people specifically looking for ME1 stuff seeing as the majority of topics are ME2 related. Would be very handy for first-time visitors not used to browsing the forum, I'd roll with that idea.

I agree, since the threads are combined in one forum, the ME ones should be tagged as you said.

It will make it much easier.

Well, I'll add the tag to some posts about ME1 that I can find until someone goes "OHMYGODS YOU EDIT MY POST?!"
