I downloaded the BioWare preset faces package and I wanted to make a few new presets for Elf males with them. I'm new to the toolset so I'm completely lost on how to edit the files so that the heads won't show up as disembodied and magically floating in the air. Any poke in the right direction on what I should edit would be lovely.
All the files are in MOP format.

MOP files are presets that are already exported. you can't change them.
You need a MRH file, it is a headmorph file that you can modify with the toolset.
As for the conversion, it is not possible without editing the model in an external program.
the naming conventions used by bioware are hm for human male, em for elf male.
the "disembodyment" occurs because the base models have different height so you would get those glitches.
You could make your own elf male head morphs with the toolset.
Have a look at the wiki for the different file types and the head morph handling.
