I was just wondering, I noticed on my most recent playthrough that whoever of the 2 companions you take with you is more combat oriented they shoot Saren in the head. ie - taking Tali & Liara, Tali always jumps down to shoot Saren, but with Tali/Wrex Wrex shot Saren. Is that true for any/everybody else?

I had Kaidan and Liara with me then and Liara shot him. Seems to be random IMO.

Agreed. Ive had Wrex and Tali in party, and Tali was the one who pulled the trigger.

Its probably who you select first or second in the party selection screen, like in ME2

I'm with Benu5, i've had Liara, who's not that combat ready, cap Saren in the head. I think it really is the selection. A little earlier than that game wise, i had ashley argueing FOR saving the Aliens, and Liara AGAINST, saving the aliens.

Hmm - I was just wondering this. With Kaidan and Garrus, Garrus shoots Saren. Kaidan and Wrex, it's Wrex. That lead me to believe it was the more 'badass' character doing the shooting, but it sounds like it's either random or based upon the order they're added to the party.

I brought Ash and Garrus with me last time. Ash shot him. I don't know what defines the selection, but the act had a new feeling, because I remembered that I said to her that Saren was the responsible for Kai's death.

It's ussually the more 'renegade' character. I think the order is something like this from renegade to paragon:

Wrex-Ashley-Garrus-Tali-Liara-Kaiden (note: Wrex and Ashley could be the other way around)

But if you 'persudaded' Kaiden or Ashley then the order will change.

I believe this is correct (though I also don't know who is more renegade for this purpose, Ash or Wrex).  My understanding is that a squadmate's standing on this scale also dictates which person recommends the more paragon or renegade decisions at moments like the rachni queen decision or the choice of whether or not to save the Council.

So, Kaidan will never be able to shoot Saren?

From what I know, Renegade Kaidan is the most renegade on the scale... and having him and Wrex will make Wrex argue for saving the council.  But I don't know if it factors into shooting Saren.

I brought Ash and Garrus about six time there, and every single time I did, Ash shot him.
Maybe there is a priority list which decides who delivers the shot?

Yes - my understanding is that influencing either of the Alliance marines away from their initial paragon/renegade alignment pushes them to the furthest opposite end of the scale.  However, I've never finished a game with ManShep, so I haven't been able to see for myself if Paragon Ash is the most paragon of all.  (I know Fort loves turning Kaidan renegade, but I can't bear it - even though the arguments FemShep puts forward during their discussions, which I've seen on YouTube, form probably the best, most sensible articulation of the renegade point of view in the entire game.)

I always thought it was the more renegade character who does the shooting. Which is usually Wrex (I never tried it with him and renegade Kaidan). When it comes to saving the Council though, un-paragoned Ashley is a step more renegade-y than Wrex for that specific decision.

I don't know about the more renegade character idea. I did turn Ash to a more paragon state, and Garrus to be a ruthless badass, still it was Ash who shot him.

I brought Garrus and Tali with me and Garrus shot him (not really much of a surprise there either;)). I thought this depended on who you selected first like in 2, so didn't think much of it. But like illustrated above the paragon/renegade meters do make a lot of sense though.

My guess would be that shifting their paragon/renegade opinions doesn't affect that specfiic decision.

Too many games to count, 99% with Kaidan in the final battle and he NEVER shoots Saren, MaleShep or FemShep LI Renegade.

I tested the theory "its who you select first that shoots, or who you select second that shoots" no, its not. I chose Tali then Wrex, and Wrex than Tali on my run throughs. Wrex shot him both times. Idk what the factor is in that scene.

I suspect there's a priority list for deciding who shoots Saren. It's probably the following:

1. Wrex

2. Ashley

3. Garrus

4. Kaidan

5. Tali

6. Liara

When I brought Liara and Tali with me, it was Tali who made the headshot. Quite disturbing to watch, in a way. O.o
