Really Tony? none of the charaters interest you at all?

While they do seem to fall under the major RPG stereotypes, there must be at least one person you like. Not even your own personal hawke? I find your enthusiasm right now shocking for one who is on the forums. Image IPB

Ugly pirate chick
Average female warrior
Emo elf dude
Brother who I know nothing about, but sounds boring
Sister who's the only attractive female companion announced yet...but she's your sister....

I will say Vael will take time for me to form an opinion on, and Varric looks...interesting, I just am disillusioned by the fangirls raving over him. Reminds me of yaoi fangirls.

So you're knocking fan girls,  while suggesting the reason you won't be using certain characters is based on the fact you find them attractive.  Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?

If I was a Fanboy I'd be making and/or contributing to a large thread raving about one of the females. I'm not, nor do I intend to. There's a difference between valuing physicality and being obsessed.

Impressive Jaulien, no mages is a unique way to play, my anti version of the game...question, on one area of Bracilian Forest there is an area where if you do not have a mage in the party, everyone dies. How do you get through this part or do you skip it altogether?

Sorry for getting off topic, i just really want to know.

I am glad that friendly fire spells are still only on nightmare...i heard that even two handed weapons will be friendly fire now, should make Nightmare a real pain...

You can get through that part of the Bracilian Forest without a mage in the party......

Edited:
I just thought that no mage made the game a bit harder and more interesting.....no mass mob killings. Watched my husband play a mage and thought (after he leveled up a bit)..."wow, looks too easy." Wich is werid, since in other games I usually only play a mage, but my game-combat style is much more suited to a rogue.

It's based on the Will attribute I think, if you or any of your party has a certain level of Will, they'll not "die"; of course that makes Wynne and Morrigan most suited, because Will is one their primary attributes.

The highest willpower in your party will awaken. I had no problems here on my no-mage playthrough. Might be that there is a minimum willpower requirement.

Really? Will? I never put any points into will and it was usually Zevran or my Rogue that was left awake.
Even with Morrigan or Wynne in the party (the couple of times I played with a mage in the party) That is if I tried leaving wo giving in to the 'let's camp here'.

The one time I had one of the mages left awake compared to everyone else was if I gave in to the fade spirit without trying to leave.

There is a minimum willpower requirement. I remember that both my Mage PC and Wynne survives.;)

ah thanks for clarifying...i never raise will for non mage characters, hence my issue.

So back to the possible characters I will pick:
Second Hawke - Female rogue assassin
Bethany
Varric (awesome sauce)
unknown right now...maybe a serious tank?

1 healing mage, 1 rogue with a bow, 1 rogue with knives, and any kind of warrior. So I guess MageHawke, Varric, Isabela, and Aveline...or Fenris.

I do like that Aveline looks like a real warrior, meaning that she could heft that blade.....

So let's see....

If Archery doesnt suck then:

Me dual-wield

Sebastian or Varric archery

Isabella dual wield

Aveline or Fenris warrior

Now if Archery does suck:

Me dual wield

Isabella dual wield (very interested in what 'swashbuckling' is...do we get to throw knives?)

Aveline S&S

Fenris 2-handed (assuming that is what he is)

Mage Hawke
Carver
Varric
Aveline

At least that's my intial plan. I'm not sure if I want to go Spirit Healer, so if Carver isn't available as a full companion I may fill that slot with a healer or Fenris/Isabella.

Wow, doesn't look like too many people don't take a mage in some sort of form with them....I can't be that much of an oddity.

I really can't decide! I like everyone so far. I'll definitely have to play the game first.

I'll probably go as a warrior first, so I'll most likely end up having another warrior with me, a rogue and mage. Don't care about who they are as long as they are in one of those categories.

First playthrough will be remale rogue hawkem party of Sebastian, Fenris and mage to be announced! Or thats most likely who it will be, really depends on what I think of them when I play though!

Thus far, my primary group will probably be Aveline/Varric/Fenris (with Fem!Hawke as the mage). I may go Seb/Varric/Fenris depending on whether Fenris is any use as a tank, or Seb/Varric/Aveline if I happen to like Seb better than Fenris.

further in the thread i have David's reply to the original Orsino thread...he admits that Orsiro is a character, but neither denies nor admits whether he/she is a PC.

My primary team will be Hawke + the 2 most importent characters + LI where I sometimes switch the LI if another character has a conection to the place I am going. If the LI is one of the 2 most importent characters then I will switch the last one from time to time.

In Origins this was Warden + Alistair + Morrigan + Leliana/Other

You mean an NPC companion.  Hawke is the PC.

Don't know yet what characters, but definitely going 1 mage and 3 archers. If it's just half as fun as in the first game I'll be killing stuff with a big smile on my face.

I'm not a big fan of a fixed party so my party will probably look like:

Mage Hawke - DPS Warrior or 2nd Mage - Rogue - Tank

With quest relevance getting highest priority.
