I love Aria. As for her pompous speech in the beginning... Well, our favourite turian councilor saying something like this would be stupid ('I AM the council!' /Palpatine-style). But I see Omega as a totally different world with it's own rules and regulations, kills and shows, pathos and poverty. The speech Aria gives is part of the show, that's why it may seem unnatural to some ('I am Omega', heh). After the show is over Aria is talking to Shepard normally, without pathos and intimidation, and she treats Shepard as an equal from that moment on.

As Moss' delivery of lines is fantastiс. '...Queen is you're feeling dramatic. It doesn't matter' part is just one of the things that get me every time I hear Aria's voice.

I agree with all of this. Aria is quite possibly my favorite non-follower NPC in the whole game. She always has me trying everything I can to get on her good side. I love her attitude, and the feeling I get is that she's someone I don't want to be enemies with. My Shepards generally respect her power, and sort of want her to respect them in return. I really hope she shows up in ME3.

Agreed. I actually almost take it as a given that's going to make an appearance in ME3. Possibly a more significant one even.

I seem to think that Casey Hudson likes Omega, Afterlife and Aria in particular; and Aria is pretty popular according to the 'Who is your favorite "recurring character"?' thread.

It's heavily hinted that Aria used to be Aleena or whatever from Vrex story, and after retribution I wouldn't put it past Aria going commando again, pardon the pun. Aria for squadmate.

I agree, to me she's the 'Lando' of the trilogy. Personally I like that line and think there is other lines that are more cringeworthy.

I love how everyone seem to think that Shepard is some kind of God. You're in the Terminus, which is pretty much run by Aria and she has run it firmly for centuries. You're in a club run by Aria and God knows how many people who work for her are actually in there. So excuse her if she feels confident in her base.

uh hello, shepard flies right into COLLECTOR'S BASE and GETH HERETIC BASE and kills EVERYONE. shep is a god.

*Facepalm* <_<

wait, you disputing shep flies into collectors base and omega base and geth heretic base and purgatory base and kills everything?

shep really means it when he/she says "ALL YOU BASE BELONG TO ME"

It's funny how bioware really wants you to do that. The interupt stays up for the longest time, and even flashes again if you hesitate. Suppose that might have something to do with the long winded speech the krogan has on the agenda but I prefer to think Bioware were especially proud of that one. :innocent:

That krogan, chump or not, easily has the longest and hammiest speeches of the whole game.  He'll go on for ages if you let him.

i wish that krogan kept saying his speech even while he was burning to death. i think he did shout something like "avenge me, my comrades" or something like that before he kicked the bucket.

meh. she's played so well for the rest of her lines I don't even care. Even "Maybe I'll be here." is good.

Plus keep in mind her interactions with TIM in retribution show that she is fairly petty and egotistical, always wanting to get the last word and such. It's really her only downfall, and even if that line is overdramatic it actually fits her character.

If Aria was talking to one of those idiot Mercs, the line would fit. But Aria, a clearly competent and intelligent person, speaking to Shepard, an equally competent individual, like that?

Come on, the line was crap, made Aria seem ignorant. There were way better ways of having an underlying attempt to mark her territory with Shepard than dropping an F-bomb. It's just not impressive.

For the record, Shep technically died and came back to life. That's about as close to being a God as I can imagine in this context(even though it's terribad writing).

Aria has to know who she's dealing with. Aria and Shepard are both very dangerous and intelligent, and that makes those few lines so cheesy and lame.

So with lots of people showing support for Aria, I guess the to the OP, this is an obvious response...

"Better luck next time!" :D :P ;)

Edit: @Kainryc IIRC the OP was mostly talking about the "I AM OMEGA!" not her 'rule', besides Shepard can point out that they have a similar ruling. I've always got the impression that Aria DOES respect Shepard. She is just laying down the facts. Besides she is highly impressed when Shepard hands her that data showing how some of the groups were looking to take her down.

This. I do find Aria quite fascinating, and I like the hint that she's Aleena. Would be hilarious if you could tell Wrex hahaha.
Personally I'm looking forward to see if she'll be in ME3 in one way or another.

I thought it was a pretty powerful line. You've never been to Omega before. The place is a hellhole; you can tell as soon as you walk in to the main area. It's not nice and green and sterile-looking. It's the exacty opposite. And Aria's the one who has the most power in that place. She's got resources, she's got manpower, and she's got brains. And she knows it, and she wants you to know it. She knows exactly who you are, and that's likely why she sent for you, because you're obviously there for a reason. She offers you her knowledge, free of charge, likely because she knows you don't screw around. That doesn't mean she has to bow at your feet just because you're Commander Shepard. I think if she had been more... polite, that's the only word I can think to use, she wouldn't have seemed so comfortable. It would have felt more like she was trying to be polite around you out of some fear, rather than setting the mood that "we're not in the Citadel anymore."

As for Shep's death and resurrection being godlike, it wasn't Shepard's choice to come back to life. S/he didn't just spring back to life. Someone had to go out of their way the revive them. S/he's not so much "godlike" as s/he is an unwitting test subject. Albeit a thankful, duty-bound test subject.

I personally liked Aria's speech. It felt natural to me.... ok maybe a teensy weensy bit flakey, but still... she's kept a huge crime hub active for centuries, took down Patriarch, and kept him around merely as a trophy...

Plus, she hands out info on Mordin and Archangel w/o no questions asked. No meaningless quests, just pure straight info which is what I needed.

She's calm, cool, collected in a fight. I need someone like Aria in ME3. I applaud someone who does pee their pants when Shepard walks through the door....

She's alright. I always give her that datapad that warns of that assassination plot, just to get on her good side even more

Renegade response:

I see. So you're saying you're old, dirty, worn out, infested with nameless diseases in your lower parts, and all sorts of pirates, mercenaries, and other criminal scum may come in and out of you whenever they please?

I must use this in my own story.

I agree about the setting regarding the line, but the line itself....come on. You're Commander Shepard. That sort of line, that kinda talk just isn't going to be impressive to a guy/gal who has seen the worst kinds of warfare, who has died.

There were so many better lines that they could have conveyed the "Aria rules Omega" thing with than "Don't F with me".

It's just so anti-climactic.

And I don't mean polite. I mean simply not sounding like every other wannabe-warlord that has tried to impress or intimidate Shepard, which she did(at least during that line).

She would have been far more impressive and seemed a lot more savvy if she had been a little more coldly diplomatic, rather than bluntly "Don't F with me".

And the god-stuff was a joke. Obviously the whole thing was circumstancial.

Agreed.  Everytime I do a new game, I have a stronger and stronger urge to tell her to be original.  You think after being alive for over 500 years, you could come up with something more intimidating than "Don't F with Aria" to a soldier she knows carries just as big of a reputation as her.  C'mon, now, that's all you got?  Why not "Omega only has one rule," pause as Aria throws one of her mercs across the room, and ask "want to find out?"

Okay, so I'm not a writer, lol, but yeah, that line was a little cringeworthy, up there with but the priiize.

well, if you red or want to read comic book or books, you will know it. actually, Aria is one of the worst badass in unvierse. she killed lots of people (I mean aliens) for her greedy mind. piracy, smuggle (slavers, weapons, etc), black market. that's why Omega is the perfect place that she has to rule over everything. you know, there is no actual law, or justice.
