Can anybody confirm that just playing the main story in ME1, so that would be, Eden Prime, Noveria, Feros, Virmire, Asteroid, Ilos, Citadel.. is worth the effort to import the game in ME2.. or will you miss a lot of stuff..
(leaving extra credits or minerals you'll receive out of discussion..)

You will end up not seeing and or hearing about some people on the news. Like Toombs and the doctor situation or Chairman Burns and the outcome of the biotic repairs, or Helena Blake. Other then the bonuses you might be okay. But you also might want some input from someone who has taken that route. I've alway's just done all the missions even though it is a bit of drag.

Personally I'm not at all fond of the default choices for ME2. So I pretty much always import. If you're not interested in playing ME1 for its own sake you can always grab the ME2 save game editor and set up the play through you want. There's even a thread about how to mod save games on the 360 floating around one of the forums somewhere.

No.. I want to play ME1.. because I like creating characters.. and I still want to create a personality by playing through ME1.. but I just don't feel like doing all the side missions, drag of the Mako ect..

You'll get all the big choices done, but you won't have any influence over what happens on the news and you'll recieve less emails. Some people will be missing if you didn't talk to them I think Conrad Verner is an example. It doesn't make a huge impact on the game but doesn't make you feel so involved. And I have no idea how any of it will effect ME3.

You could make more of an impact by just picking certain side missions such as the Cerberus missions and the Origin Story mission and leaving out the Geth invasion in the Armstrong cluster and things like retrieving the module from the spacr monkey thing.

You don't need side missions to import.

You do need to import to have the choices you made be reflected, including some from side missions.

Go through with just the main storyline. Import into ME2, then used Gibbeds save editor to fill in the missing side quests.
