You need to patch WH w update 1.1 and do it again. She will act properly.

(edit:
I believe when you go to the DAO menu before start game it gives you
the link to WH 1.1 in the blinking adverts down below.)

Well then I've already downloaded the patch, but the character is still not showing up on my Bioware homepage like every single other character I've made. Which means SOMETHING is still broken. :(

Also, What choices in Amgarrak mattered? I don't remember making any choices at all, Does it matter in the slightest?

It could simply be that playing it sets a flag ("They say the Hero of Ferelden battled one of these and unwittingly released the rest of them...") so who knows exactly?

For the record, I too am confused as to which save game is supposed to be imported and how we're supposed to attach DLCs to each other/DAO/Awakenings to ensure the chain goes from beginning to end.

Import the last save you made with the character whose story you want to have affect your world in DA2.  So if you took a character all the way through from Origins, imported into Awakening, imported into Golems, imported into Witch Hunt, then you use the auto-save Witch Hunt creates at the end of the game.  If you only did Origins and Awakening with the same character, then use your last Awakening save.

The import process from one module to another keeps the saved data from the previous game.  Assume you have a character you imported from Origins into Awakening into Golems.  That's how Jerrik for example knows which King you put on the Orzammar throne because that information was still in the save brought over from Awakening even though that had nothing to do with Awakening.

If your Warden performed the Ultimate Sacrifice in Origins and you still imported the same Warden into Awakening, the game will still set the flags for your actions in Awakening/Golems/Witch Hunt but treat all that as being done by an Orlesian Warden.  Your character will still be considered dead.

The only issue that comes up is if you created a new Orlesian Warden for Awakening/Golems/Witch Hunt.  Since this is another character, you'll then have to choose which to import - the original Warden with the Origins game flags set and use the defaults for the rest or the Orlesian Warden with the Awakening+ game flags set and the defaults for Origins (whatever said defaults may be.)  Reason being is that it is a separate character with a separate story and more importantly, its own set of saves.

But if you had simply been transferring a Warden from 1 module to the next, just use the last save created from the last module played.  That's all.

Oh really? Can you give me a source for your information? I might actually do Awakenings and etc. DLCs with my sacrificed Warden if I see some evidence for this claim.

One of the devs mentioned it some time back when it was asked about "conflicting stories" that Origins decisions takes precedent over Awakening decisions.

Alright, I'll take your word for it then. Going to play Awakenings + DLC with sacrificed warden. The epilogue save is there anyway if I want to import directly from Origins anyway if this isn't the case.

What I would really like to know is, to get all my decisions into DAII (Origins, Awkening, GoA, WH), can I do this simply by trasnporting my Witch Hunt save file?

And if that is the case, is it safe for me to delete the origins, Awakening and GoA saves with that character? Playing it on the 360 I am limited to ten characters, and this is really bugging me. Otherwise none of my other characters will be able to go through these DLCs. =[

I'm also playing on the 360, and as long as you did it in the right order with the same character all the way to the WH end, then the WH epilogue autosave is the one you should import into DA2. You can then delete the other old ones of THAT character. ^_^

Ahh cool, thanks. It had really been bugging me haha. Well now that's one less worry on my mind. =)

I played DAO on my Macbook Pro, but now my computer's graphics card won't handle DA2. I plan to get the XBOX 360 version instead.

Question: are characters importable from our EA online accounts? My understanding was that for Mass Effect, our characters were exported to our online accounts, so importing into ME2 was simple.

Will DA2 work this way? If I played on DAO on my mac, but want to import my character to the XBOX platform for DA2, will this work?

Was anything ever confirmed on this? I'm almost at the end of another DAO playthrough, and would like to have an answer before I move on to Awakening.

For a DA2 carry over, I HAVE to do a single DAO-Awakening-GoA-WH playthrough? I can't do DAO with Ultimate sacrifice ending, and start a new Orlesian Warden-GoA-WH (import 2 saves)? That's what I'm getting from David Sims comment.

Also, what happens if my character in DOA does the US, and then I carry it over? Does the game "retcon" it so I was an Orlesian Warden in Awakening onwards, or does it plug its ears and say "lalala, Wardens don't die when they kill the Archdemon, we never said such a thing"?

Just wondering if anyone has a clue as to what degree DA:O DLC(Awakening,Golems, and Witch Hunt) affect DA2? I want to know if it is worth playing through the DLC with my 3 Origins characters.

I finish dragon age origin and I import my character to awakening.
Somehow, I didn't finish awakening (Half way through, and don't plan to complete it before DA II out), can I still import my awakening character to DA II?

So I finished Awakening but am a bit confused. There is no epilogue save at the end like in Origins. Does this mean I should use the autosave to import into Golems?

Yea, the most recent autosave (the one right before the fight with the mother) should include all of the info, just did it a few days ago.

You import a single save file into DA2. If you want to know what data is being imported, trace that save game back to its genesis; that is when you created a new character. If you created an Orlesian Warden then that is a new character and the genesis of a save game. There is no import history for such a save game. An Origins save game imported into Awakening does however have a full history of Origins decisions.

If you took your end of Awakening save and imported it into Golems, then took your Awakening save and imported it into Witch Hunt, the new Golems save game would have no knowledge of Witch Hunt data and the Witch hunt save would have no knowledge of the Golems data. You must import your save games in a single chain tracing all the way back to origins to be able to import all data (Origins->Awakening->Golems->Witch Hunt).

Think of the decision data like an item in your inventory. Jokes aside about DLC items and Awakening imports, imagine you got an item at the same time you made the decision and never disposed of it. If the item would be in your inventory in the save file you import into DA2, then the decision will be imported. If the item wouldn't be there because it's in a different branch of your save game tree, then it will not be imported. There is no world state/decision tracking on a per character basis that transcends individual save files.

What he is saying that if you import:
A to B
and
A to C

that B does not have knowledge about C and C does not have any knowledge about B.

But if you import:
A to B to C
or
A to C to B

Both C and B know the existence of each other.

Great summary! Thx!

@DavidSims so does that mean the items we got for completing DLC will be avalible in DA2 or not if we import a save that has these items?

i had a character that i took from DA:O imported into Awakenings, then without finishing awakenings, imported to Golems finished it, then from golems imported into witch hunt.

while importing data from my old saves I do not see an auto save at the end of witch hunt. Furthermore, when i pick any save from witch hunt, and click plot summary I do not see any information regarding my actions in golems. I just see plot facts from origins and one from awakenings. What am I doing wrong? can anyone confirm that WH and golems affects the DA2 plot line?

thanks in advance.

It'll ask you to during Character Creation. "Events of Dragon Age: Origins". Pick from the 3 or import your save, verify with the "Plot Summary" button.
