in my adept walkthrough on insanity as an adept i had used and advice to use(i dont like blood dragon armor, but i have it):
N7 Chestplate/N7 Capacitor Chestplate
Amplifier Plates
N7 Gauntlets/Stabilization Gauntlets
N7 Greaves/Life Support Webbing
No helmets by default, I guess you can use some nice visor increasing power damage

Like with my preferences, it's totally tailored to how I play.  I blast away with everything, totally oblivious to shield strength.  Once it goes down, that's my cue to chill out for a second and regroup!

Yeah, it doesn't really matter how much shield you have, if your shield is up you're good to go. "Shield's down" moments will make Shep indestructible for a brief moment, giving you time to either kill / disable the remaining enemies or get cover.

Extra Power Damage is useless - if your Warp can insta-strip (normal level) enemies [like Vorcha, LOKI's and Collectors], it'll do. Having the insta-defense stripping part covered (armor and barriers only), also means your Warp bombs will insta-kill ragdolled enemies (health : defenses ratio is ~ 1:1).

All extra damage isn't going to help in any way; powerful enemies [like Krogan, Collector Assassins and Guardians] cannot be insta-stripped nor insta-killed using Warp (bombs). A 10-20% Power Damage increase is insufficient to strip defenses/kill enemies faster, i.e using less Warp (bombs) to get the job done. The only enemies the extra Power Damage makes a difference are Thresher Maw, Praetorian, Oculus, Colossus and Human Reaper - to kill them using only Warp will save a couple of shots (like 30 vs 34 for example). Not worth it IMHO.

Fantabulous. I'd heard that it did work for the soldier but for some reason had silly doubt as to whether it applied to all classes. Thanks.

The extra Ammo Power Damage isn't very good either. Early game it's nice, but with a couple of Weapon Damage Upgrades the added damage becomes pretty small. An extra 10% Warp Ammo damage bonus will be like plus 1-2 % total damage late-game. You will and cannot notice the difference.

Now I'm really starting to wonder about the real benefit of armor.  Looks are looks, so roll with that how you like.  Regarding benefits, the numbers really don't matter all the much.

My thoughts regarding the psychology of it all are nagging at me.  I don't want to go too OT, but what do you guys think of that?  Like with my Off Hand Ammo Pack example, can they provide some kind of psychological edge?

(Should I start a new thread?)

The placebo effect is quite powerful. If you really believe it helps, it usually does.

But no matter how strong your believes; the Off Hand Ammo Pack isn't going to add 10 Widow shots, instead of only one :)

So Bozo... what you're telling me is my Shepard is better off running around naked with no armour on? Because pretty much that's the message I'm getting, intended or not ^^.
As we discussed earlier, I stand by the 'every little helps'. Saying that every single choice has little or no impact is ace but quite frankly I'm here to discuss the armour choice for Adepts, not what the changes don't do. Do people prefer shields? Or more Damage Bonus? Or perhaps more health/quicker shield regen? I just want to find out these little tidbits and see what others do.
And lets not delve into Ammo Powers too much, I asked a simple question as I was curious, stating that I didn't want to discuss it any further. Now I know that Power Damage affects Ammo Powers.. I'm satisfied. ^_^

Anyhow! @MacPhisto, I don't think it warrants another thread, off-hand ammo pack isn't too bad, we all like having more ammo and I remember in my 1st playthrough I used it as I was blasting away as a soldier like no tomorrow ^^ but ehhh... having 10% more ammo... that's like having 1 more widow shot or... 2, or something. It might make a difference in 'that specific life saving situation' but... yeah... I'd say it's more psychological, the heavy wep ammo increase ofc comes in handy with the Cain I guess (with all upgrades, you can get a total of 2 shots). Hah! Bozo mentioned the Widow as well ^^.

Ok, if it is preferences, the four things I nearly always use are:
Kestrel Torso.
Kestrel Arms.
Strength boost pads.
Stimulator conduits.

Haha, totally depends on the gun.  I'll give you that.  But with the Mattock, 70 extra rounds just looks a WHOLE lot better than 63. Image IPB

If my FemShep could wear a sexy looking bikini or run around naked, she would

I'm only trying to explain the bonuses you get from wearing different armor pieces are so small, you won't notice the difference and they don't change the way you can play.

That's really bad. The least BW could have done was to give some decent bonuses; like the choice to use light armor - weak protection (15% heath and shield penalties) but a 15% cooldown reduction bonus. Or heavy armor providing excellent protection but also a movement speed penalty. That would give the player options.

ME2 armor is only for show (unfortunately), I just wear what looks best IMHO.

When BioWare sells out and does a DOA Beach Volleyball clone for Mass Effect, I'm blaming/thanking you.  Lol.

Well here's hoping that the armour bonuses do match up to something decent in ME3. I bought the Aegis Pack after my Vanguard run so it should be fun to give that a go. Alas, it's a shame really, BioWare really should do something about the lack of some powerful armour. Bah.

Blame doesn't exist for such things ^_^
