On the topic of the ME movie.. people say that Mark Vanderloo can't play Shepard since he's not an actor.. but.. I saw this clip posted by a member of the forum.. and I could see some real potential.. you guys agree on Mark Vanderloo, Yvonne Strahovski and Marty Sheen, playing their own characters..?

Erm, I dont think it matters who plays whoever in this film. Video games have never converted well into award winning films.
Can anyone tell me a game/film that has actully been sucessfull? winning awards etc?

Personally, I'd like it if Blur made the film... well, I mean whoever within that studio who made all the trailers - and just get them to do a CGI film. On the condition that they're given performance capture tech (ala Avatar and Tron - they don't seem to have that in their trailers, because the faces look awkwardly animated at times, whereas in those films the faces are actual captured performances applied to the cgi models) - that way they can just get all the original VA's and they can make the characters look "right". Of course, if they did this I would like them to go with a femshep, just to be different from the Bioware marketing (and I think that would add to the feeling that the movie is just "another version" of the ME story, and no more canon than your own canon).

Because didn't they buy the rights to ME1 specifically?
I think they've disregarded their rule about making sure all supplemental material doesn't conflict with your game canon for this one thing... Then again, Kapryshyn kinda did that with Retribution, so... But perhaps we're not supposed to look at this movie as "supplemental" but rather an alternate version of ME.

No to Mark Vanderloo in the movie, He's great as the iconic male Shepard face, but he's just a face. Mark Meer is really what makes Shepard, Shepard. Frankly, Mark Vanderloo is in his 40's, and if he was such a great actor, we'd have seen him be established as such by now. The guy's been on the scene as a model for more than 20 years, I don't think now is the time to take some wild gamble that he might not suck as an actor.

I think Yvonne and Martin should, and also Rana Mcanear for Samara especially since she wants to become an actress. It'd be wrong if they overlooked her. As for Mark Vanderloo, have you heard his voice? Search him on youtube and the video he has with some other model and him skating in NYC. His voice sounds too soft. I was shocked to be honest. And then, read some of the comments on the video.

When the producers talk about the movie, they refer to the characters and events in the game. They don't do so literally, but they say it's about aliens working together etc. Check the article on IGN.Warlokki wrote...
