Date: Sometime after Bloodmoon came out.
Location: Cave located near Raven Rock.

Oh look a cave. Now that I got this pick that I can mine Stalhrim and make armor out of it I should check out this creepy cave. So far so good, a few skeletons, oh looky stalhrim! Well I just mined it this is good, wait whats that sound, whats that? OH SHI------ "proceeds to get the ever loving crap beaten out of me"

@horace the grey yeah I liked most of them too. The Taken from Alan Wake were one of my favorites. I loved them moving in the darkness at high speed and yelling random things.

Thanks for correctly naming those buggers from Alan Wake. I'd forgotten what they were called, so I just gave them a general name.

Anyways, wanted to add more examples, this time from TV land:

Doctor Who - It's a series where facing a monster every week is the norm. Out of the show's long history, two examples stand out:



The Weeping Angels. Quite possibly one of the greatest monsters ever made in any medum. So simple in conception, yet so terrifying at the same time. They scare the crap outta me anytime I see them.



The Daleks. Used wrongly, they can be annoying pepperpots with high pitched voices. Used correctly, they're the scariest things in existence.

Oh yeah, the Weeping Angels are pretty damn neat. The first episode that had them, the one starring Carey Mulligan, is probably one of my favourite Doctor Who eps. Didn't really care all that much about the more recent 2-parter they were in though.
As for the Daleks, 9 times out of 10 they annoy the crap out of me.

But then again, all of Doctor is a bit hit or miss to me. I find probably about 2/3rds of all the episodes to be ridiculously stupid, but a good chunk of the remainder to be rather great.

I imagine the Daleks would be hard for any writer on Doctor Who to build up as a threat. Season One of the New Series I thought used them brilliantly, but the subsequent seasons have lessened their impact. I'd actually prefer it if the series killed them off one final time, but they're so tied in with the show's history that fans would revolt.
