I've left him once as well, but I couldn't keep playing after that. I just really couldn't relate to that Shep at all, and that takes the fun out of it for me (it was my only try at renegade).
And I think the Virmire decision is constructed slightly in Kaidans favour, just because Ash is a woman and a LI for the average gamer. In order to make the choice difficult Kaidan is the ranking officer and more valuable to the Alliance. I would have a much harder time saving him if it was him or Captain Anderson for instance.

True.
Although you can also make your priority making sure the bomb goes off or making sure you don't get shot down by the tower, or whether to save the extra team of salarians or your own marines.
But from a personnel standpoint, Kaidan is an officer and a biotic. Ashley is dedicated and has a great wealth of potential, but she can't compete with the "scarce resource" that is stable human biotics. Particularly since eezo exposures for pregnant women and drive core explosions over populated areas are a bad thing and kill more kids than gift them with biotics....

I'm still rather annoyed that Liara never seems inclined to tell Kaidan what was going on, but... maybe it's not as malicious as it seems. Maybe she just didn't know Shepard was up and about yet and didn't want to jump the gun in case Lazarus failed.
When I'm being super cynical, I suspect that Liara intentionally went along with it hoping Shepard would fall gratefully into her arms all, "Kaidan, who? *bats eyelashes*" like. I wouldn't have thought she had it in her, but then the "Rawr! Revenge!" Liara kinda surprised me, too.

re: Betrayals: As a player, I loved the twist that Liara gave Shepard to Cerberus for the Lazarus project. It gave me a whole new level of appreciation for the character (and I didn't care much for her from ME1 so that was a good thing). My main Shepard though? Burning, hot rage over the decision. Very much like Fire said for hers. Who gave Liara the right to do what she did? She's not tried to talk to Liara about it... yet. Because, she needed to cool off. (And, she is starting to understand the full gravity of the situation - but it doesn't make her feel better about what was done to her.)
And, when it comes down to it, she agreed more with what Kaidan said on Horizon than anything else. But, she can't walk away from what she's seeing done, so she has to let him walk away. (And the anger over him doing that is more as she realizes that she needs someone to be there for her, and not just another body/soldier on her team.)

The scene of VS left at the bomb is absolutely brutal :/ its epic for sure, but its really hard to watch for me. please, tell me that its possible to save captain Kirrahe without going to whoever is not at the bomb, please, because I never want to see that again :/

Yes, of course! All you need to do to ensure Kirrahe survives is help out the Salarian team on your way there (take out coms etc.)jeweledleah wrote...
my cannon Shep is thankful to Liara for giving her another chance at life. she doesn't like having to work with Cerberus, not one bit, but the second chance she got is worth it. alive she has a chance to make things right, to do something about the Reapers, to patch things up with Kaidan. Dead, she can do none of that. idealistic "I'm trying to save as many people as I can" as my Shepard is, she's also pragmatic enough to sometimes make not so nice choices and appreciate ever second of life she still has to live.. now that I think of her, she turned out to be a mix of Captain Janeway and Scarlet O'Hara more so then "me" shep. I did save both Genophage research and Kasumi's graybox (but destroyed the collector base, as hard as it was to let go of that technology, Mordin and Kasumi I can somewhat trust, TIM though? no way)

He shows up at the tower as a support NPC, but he's on the Normandy even if you rescue the person at the bomb site. Presumably, from a story standpoint, they rendezvous with the Normandy either direction you go and it's only the tower team salarians with Kaidan/Ashley that are pinned down.

Incidentally, there are no all out renegade femshep saves that didn't romance anyone in ME1 and saved Ashley. isn't it interesting

Thanks for Liara will come much later for my Shepard. Her "second chance" at life has yet to show her where anyone needs her. They need Commander Shepard, but who really missed Alexis Shepard? (Which is a main issue I addressed in my story... so not going to rehash it here!)

@Jenova; Yeah, a funny shaped head and old age can be very detrimental indeed.. ;-) But he should have a great ass at least..?
@FireEye; The thing is that both the bombsite and the AA tower is strategically important to hold, so you're right. It's how you choose to play it really.
RE; Liara. My Shep is not thankful. It is what it is and she can't change it now (will make the most of it), but deep down she's scared as h*ll. That prothean vision? That's what she is now. Not constructed by the Reapers, but by Cerberus, and in her mind that's not a whole lot better. But she isn't really angry either, she just never felt that close to Liara and this didn't help.

It seems I'm lucky - my bf started the default Sheploo, then accidentally watched my playthrough oа Horizon and replayed ME2 importing my ME1 Sheploo who saved Kaidan. He still can't understand why Kaidan hate Cerberus but accepts his explanation.Caradore wrote...
Not sure I could leave Kaidan although I am only doing my second run through. I have seen a universe without Kaidan because my husband played through and saved Ash but it's really strange this alternate reality without Kaidan and I really found his abilities more useful that Ash. I almost always used a Kaidan/Garrus tag team. My husband thinks his universe is better with Ash and thinks Kaidan was annoying and to start with gay but I believe that's because they left in some of the dialogue when but took out the gay LI? I'm sure he's not jealous of Kaidan at all and that deleting my saved games was just a mistake.... LOL
