agreed. now if they'd only have the quad to add in same-sex romance for ME3.

Thanks for Liara will come much later for my Shepard. Her "second chance" at life has yet to show her where anyone needs her. They need Commander Shepard, but who really missed Alexis Shepard? (Which is a main issue I addressed in my story... so not going to rehash it here!)

I've read it.  it made me very sad :(  you left it fairly open ended, but like the title says....everything is not fine.  yet, I hope

I left it open-ended, because, well there is still ME3. And hope springs eternal. Some days anyways.

Until then my Shenko is....

/climbs on a soapbox

I honestly don't think it has ANYTHING to do with a lack of quad.  its not like bioware has never done any bisexual romances (including m/m) ever.  oh wait....

is it so hard to beleive that maybe, just maybe they have a different vision for Mass Effect relationships?  I understand that Kaidan is a biotic god and everyone wants him and some only hate him cause they are jealous,  and Shepard is the biggest most desirable Mary Sue in known and unknown universe, but why is it so hard to accept the established in game preferences without trying to push your fantasies (which you are definitely entiteled to)  into actual canon?  Fanfiction is great, its awesome, its entertaining.  but its F A N F I C T I O N

I know that this will mostl likely cause an intence dislike in my direction from quitea few people, but for the love of god.   sometimes, cigar is just a cigar.  and sometimes people are straight and sometimes, you really do end up with no bisexual or homosexual people in a near vicinity.  it happens.  can't we just leave it at that instead of turning everything into equality issues?

/climbs off the soapbox  /puts on flame retardant suit.

Even if it means I cannot be part of this group anymore, I feel that it had to be said.

I agree in a way, but I think the point some people are trying to make is that some people play Shepard as if s/he is themselves. If they are gay/straight/bi they would find it appealing to play Shepard the same way they live. Bioware does a beautiful job giving us a wide range of options and every new game they make they bring more options to the table. Kudos to them for pushing that barrier.

But I guess that is kind of getting off topic. So here is a question for you:

ME1 never shows the first time Kaidan and Shepard meet. Everyone else we get a first introduction but Kaidan, Shepard, Joker, and Nihlus are already aboard the Normandy are all introduced at the same time. Where and how do you think their first meeting went?

@jeweledleah - very well stated.

And since there isn't much Kaidan on the page so far, here's my version of Shenko fanfic for ME2.

And BW better give us a good ending so that Sapphy can write a sequeal to ENF Posted Image

Ideally, Bioware should give options for all orientations. But if Kaidan's straight, Kaidan's straight.

 *Saunters in.....................looks around*
*Saunters back out real casual like..* ;)
I played Jade Empire way back when and was completely oblivious to the fact that Sky was romanceable for male and female. Even then it favoured male gamers tbh. A male could choose Dawn Star, Silk Fox and Sky. Female gamers had Sky and Silk Fox...
So yet again a game company pander to heterosexual male gamers. No surprise.
Hetero male = two options
Hetero female = one 'option'
Lesbian = one 'option'
Gay man = one 'option',
The choices are even more restrictive in ME.... It is true you can't make an apple into an orange and by that token as a heteroseual woman Liara is never going to be the fruit on my menu. But it is ONLY gay men excluded here, that is what causes the issues.
However as I said, I didn't even know that Sky was male romance too, it was never alluded to in my game. And that is the way it could/should be. It is pretty easy to flag a LI as hetero/gay, whatever just by player response to some innocuous trigger question. If a woman wants to think her male LI is only interested in women it is easy to set up that dialogue, same goes for homosexual dialogue.... So that the fantasy is the same for all. Hurts no one, and opens up the exerience for all :) (imo)

Indeed and considering how creepy he can be I'm happy he is.

That said does anyone here not romance Kaidan?

I think that they proabably had a just a normal introduction when they boarded the Normandy, I think that they both may have noticed each other around in that (clearly) brief period before we meet them, but from a distance. I imagine Shepard watching Kaidan and thinking how capable he seemed and wondering about this charming, and soft spoken man and musing on how he got into his career (hence later conversations)
I think Kaidan looked at Shepard and unassuming as he is, admired her, thought her beautiful and then put it away as something that could never happen because of regs and because of modesty..........
That's how it happens in my head, anyway :D

Well, I think there's a lot of different ways that it could have gone. This is how I envisioned things for Alexis, Kaidan, and as it turns out, Joker.

(Yes, I'm tooting my own horn, but ah well.)

@Shenzi: I hope for a happy ending too. And not just so I can write some more!

Creepy?

I've heard Kaidan being described as whiny, boring and bland. Creepy is definitely something new. Posted Image

There is nothing wrong with tooting your own horn. I liked your verison. Makes me giggle a little that the first things he sees is her legs. Then again that gets the ZZ Tops song Legs in my head.

private and doesn't talk about prior relationships other then adolescent crush (and it doesn't matter that it was more about illustrating a separate point then to spill his guts about his private life) = he never had any = either closet homosexual or creepy (although the guy who waited till 31 years of age for his first sexual experience because he wanted it to be a threesome - that's perfectly fine :/ - go figure)

aaanyways. yes you can say that games are biased when it comes to romance options. but so is the world. its much easier to find a romance when you are straight and vanilla then it is when you are gay, or poly amorous or BDSM inclined or have any other less common preferences. I think its absolutely amazing that there are games out there that don't have relationships as primary focus and still have some of those options in a first place, I think its pretty revolutionary and should be appreciated for what it is instead of griping how its not enough. you cannot cover everyone's wishes and preferences at all times. I honestly don't think they are designing romantic options with "****** for tat" in mind, at least I hope they don't :/

As for Shepard and Kaidan meeting - I think Shep was introduced to officers/essential personnel upon originally boarding the Normandy, pretty boring and official. I can actually see Joker do a lot more leering and I think Kaidan has a more detached appreciation for Shep at first, I'm kinda going with canon on this one, it doesn't start getting more personal until Shep gets hurt trying to save him.

Now Jeweled you know that wasn't all of it. Not even half of it to be honest.

And nice twisting the argument into something that wasn't even said. <_<

No one said it was perfectly fine. The dude actually found his friend waiting for that to be a bit weird.

Regardless not going to get into this on a support thread.

It may have been nice to have gotten more info on how much time Shepard and Kaidan spent on the Normandy before Eden Prime.

I wonder if the lack of info was intentional? Because we meet Kaidan immediately, BioWare didn't want the other LI's to lose ground, iyswim? Daft, but plausible ^_^
