Certainly, entertaining the idea of him having a dog is purely hypothetical. And there was a slight moment of doubt in my mind whether or not animals and biotics mix well. I do also agree that he most likely would be somewhat indifferent to animals.
That being said, I still believe he would have done great as a dog-handler given the chance (potential problems with biotics looked aside). So, in a non-cannon/fan-fic kinda sense, I have no problem seing him with a calm, collected dog-partner.
Anyway, thanks for humoring me ^^

do it anyway.  so what if its not perfect, enjoy it, have fun with it, its just another way to express yoursel,f not every drawing must be a masterpiece.  that's the beauty of fanfiction and self expression, you can take it as far as you wish.

Just finished a non-romantic Kaidan but alive ME2 playthrough. Tried a different romance and was left with a resounding 'meh.' I'm going to try the other 2 but I don't really have high hopes. I still prefer how Kaidan's romance options were mixed in with the dialogue in ME1. ME2 makes it very clear what choices are romantic and which are not, however it lack that 'real' experience of find someone and slowing building that relationship over several long conversations. It would be okay if they were to give hints which lines of dialogue lead to romance without flat out tell you.



Honestly I believe how the romance options were setup in ME1 fit both Kaidan's personality and how I see my Shepard in my head. They both inch their way through each other painfully slowly. Cautious and controlled, never letting themselves give into passion until the very end. You can tell from the beginning Kaidan has a thing for Shepard but it takes a lot of coaching to bring that out. I find it much more romantic and far more realistic.



Now, I just want to do another playthrough with Zody Shepard, my Kaidan loyal Shepard.

I'm trying to focus on my renegon Shepard (how do people manage to be full renegade I have no idea, I found it impossible, even as unpleasant as she can be to NOT accumulate paragon points, unless I kill everything, skip a ton of quests, etc :/ ) she's going to be my only ME1 character that doesn't save Kaidan (and going for Garrus in ME2), but its so hard to be mean to him and just dismiss his opinions :/ to my thinking, Ash is pretty rash in her judgments and Kaidan's recommendations are actually thoughtful yet open minded.



Normally I have to set some sort of alarm to tell me that playtime is over (internal clock, what's that?), but with Simone, I keep logging out after maybe half an hour of play. and even with as limited conversations as she has with Kaidan, I'm cannot figure out why people think he's bland and boring...unless they just don't like reasonable and logical characters?

jeweldleah, it IS actually impossible to NOT get paragon points - or renegade points for that matter. Some choices will always give you some of both. For example: Grunt's loyalty mission. Completing it will always give you both paragon and renegade points. There are just some actions that give you both. Drove me nuts until i figured it out.

oh yeah, I know that about ME2, but I could have sworn that in ME1 you could be full one or the other only :/

its hard to be mean :/  its like 10 times harder for me to be mean to Kaidan

Hmm .. Yeah I've done that in ME1 on multiple playthroughs. I mean gotten all paragon and absolutely no renegade points. To be honest I didn't actually try the other way around in ME1.

My one and only renegade playthrough of ME1 was with sheploo, but I still couldn't bring myself to be snarky to Kaidan, lmao.  I am such a wuss.

I tried to do a renegade femShep but just couldn't do it, Kaidan would have been disappointed in her, and I can't bring myself to renegade him, lmao

And I'm not obsessed at all, lol

Am I the only one who could very easily see Kaidan with a cat (or a cat-type pet). I think he is confident enough to go for such an "unmanly" animal without a second thought and I could well imagine that he would appreciate it's independence. I have this picture in my head with him in a comfortable chair, reading, and the cat curled up on his lap.

Regarding "renegading" Kaidan - I have read on the net how you can persuade him to be more cautions towards Aliens (Vyrnus). Is this the only way to influence him and does he than actually change his behaviour in other respects as well? (different dialogue options coming up?).

Not even Judith (Renegon) is anti-alien, so I was never tempted to go this way. On the other hand, I totally preferred hardened to non-hardened Alistair, so if you could "create" a less hesitant Kaidan it might possibly be interesting to try out the result once.

I really wanted a renegade playthrough, but I couldn't be mean to Kaidan. However, I wanted Ash to survive Virmire, so I stopped being a wuss and told Kaidan he was out of line. Then he wouldn't talk to me anymore, I left him on Virmire, and as soon as that gloomy music starts up after the mission I quit playing and hasn't picked it up since. I've played multiple Paragons after that, but my one renegade is still out in the cold.

Now, if I knew that I can romance him for the first time in ME3, then I could be strong and leave him alone in ME1. I think..

I just got a rose from Alistair btw. Lovely guy in his own way, but he's certainly no Kaidan. I think it might be the lack of ass shots.  To me, it speaks volumes that the only guy in ME2 I looked twice at was one of the mercs..

And, regarding me/us spending so much time in the gutter, it's a really nice gutter!  A bit crowded perhaps..  But as we say in Sweden, if there's room in the heart, there's room for the ass (which is very fitting for this thread).

Jupp, I hade the same feeling. The romances in ME2 lacked punch for me, the slow build-up with Kaidan worked much better. Hmm... it could work being without a romance in ME and then going with Garrus in ME2. But unlike Tali that has been interested in Shepard for a long time I got more of a friend/lover-relationship with Garrus. Not bad, it's just not deeply in love. Hmm... but that's just me. I think that now that I've tried ME it will be difficult for my shepards to not end up with Kaidan
