I doubt the implant sticks out that much. I think the hair bumps are just because his hair is that curly.

Yeah, that's what I figured.

So, if biotic Shep shaves his head ... where is his implant?

I've always pictured it kinda like the jacks in The Matrix.  But flatter to the skull.

That's what I've always imagined too. But it would have been a nice touch to have been able to see it on a shaved biotic Shep ...

@Jenova - brings new possibilities to 'assuming direct control ... if I can get these damn batteries to work'.

what if the implants are completely under the skin, not even visible? and the amps you don't plug in directly, but rather just wear somewhere close on the body? just extrapolating.

personally, I love the bushy eyebrows and the very mild chin dimple and full lips, but I'm very biased on the reason why. (this is not 100% exact but damn close to what my hub looks like - not some of the similarities to Kaidan :) - plus hubs hair tends to kinda stand up bump and all if he doesn't cut it for too long, which is why he usually crops it military style much to my annoyance >_>)

Considering you have to keep the port "free of contaminants," it seems to be a physical input jack.  Then again, it also says "usually on the back of the neck," so Kaidan and Biotic!Shepard could each have their jacks anywhere.

could be somewhere at the top of the spine? right under the collar of the shirt? now this is edging into improbable, but now I'm seeing almost under flap of skin maybe? O_O

Could be.  But again, this is an old design.  And you can see that it was supposed to be a lot more intrusive than it is now...

Maybe they dropped this idea because animating custom biotic Shepards would have been a total pain in the ass?  I don't think of it much (though I should), because I've never played a biotic Shepard "seriously," only to get biotic achievements.

Personally, I think that for Kaidan, under the rear hair bump makes the most sense, even if it's not as big and intrusive as the older designs would indicate.  Easy place to hide it, for animators and for Kaidan trying to fit in and be unassuming.  *shrug?*

Still.  I guess it could be anywhere, so long as can link into the nervous systems.  :wizard:

Frankly, Jack's should have been visible.  But that's just me.

I figured Jack's earpiece was her amp ... always just seemed to make sense to me. I guess you could speculate her implant is in her ear? Not sure how that would work.

Implants from what I understand are under the skin attached to the nervous system at the base of the skull. Which is why Kaidan has not upgraded from a L2 to a newer implant. It's to dangerous a surgery. Amps attach to the implant outside the skin, I guess. Amps they can take on and off.

What I'm guessing is that you can't see the amp because of collar of their hardsuits. (Still doesn't explain Jack or Jacob) Jack's earpiece might be a translator. People wear translators that are disguised as jewelry or accessories.

Arg this is one of the reasons I miss Kaidan. He proved Shepard with wonderful hints into a life of a biotic.

Oof. So, I'd been writing a one-shot of a reunion between Shep and Kaidan on Omega set after the SM. I started writing it because, well, I'm new to fanfic and I wanted to know if I could 1) write at all; and 2) write smut :D 1,300 words later and I'm still not sure, but somewhere along the way I realised this had to be part of the bigger, trilogy-spanning fic I'd been starting, scrapping, and starting again over and over for so long but not getting anywhere with.

Well, I've officially re-started the main fic and am making nice headway. Told from the pov of both Shepard and Kaidan, so far all I've written is from Kai's pov just before the Normandy leaves Arcturus for Eden Prime.

I've just sketched out how I want the love story aspect to go though, right through the events of ME1 and ME2 (omg ME2, sad panda), got to the part where the Omega reunion will go, but after that, next to 'ME3', there's just a big ?. I know a lot of people have written and speculated on what will happen during that, but I just can't. I feel like ME3 is so close now, I want to wait until I know what the official story will be so I can at least hang my story around it.

It's no biggy. I expect 2 games-worth of writing to do may just take that long to finish anyway, but I'm such a stickler for knowing where the story will end up before I get writing I WANNA KNOW NOW >.<

XD

I'd be fine with it, myself, but I believe BioWare went on record as saying they weren't going to hire Sbarge again as a LI, because they'd already done it too much and didn't want to retread old territory or somewhat.  Although if memory serves, they stopped short of saying they weren't going to hire him again at all, so who knows?  He might show up as a bad guy or somethin'.  :?

*SNIP*

I thought it was already confirmed that Sbarge was doing voice work for TOR. I'd even heard rumor of him being a companion, possibly LI?

Raphael Sbarge (voiced Carth Onasi in KOTOR and Kaidan Alenko in Mass Effect) will be voicing “Smuggler Companion”.

*shrug?*  I heard it last summer and lost all my bookmarks last fall, so I couldn't tell you.  Even so, it was a strange statement, since you'd think he'd be back to voice romancable Kaidan in ME3.

Sbarge and Hale must have a contact with Bioware or something. I was excited when I heard Hale was the voice of the female trooper. Now I'm even more pumped for this spring. (hopefully, plz no more delays)

This will definitely tie me over 'til next holiday for ME3.

This is all I have gleaned from this post.

But seriously, I doubt BW will address it since it doesn't matter that much. If it doesn't explode or provide witty one-liners, it's glossed over.

Unless... argh.

Now I will forever picture Jack having Matrix jacks for nipples.  She's obviously not modest; she must be protecting them for some reason, right?  >_<

Luckily we've already seen Kaidan's nips and know nothing's hidden.

But really it could be possible that even though the implant is at the base of the skull, that maybe the amps attaches more or less magnetically. Or the 2185 equivalent of Bluetooth, without actually requiring the two to make a male/female hook-up.

I think Jack's implant was designed to be hidden under the skin or even inside the bone to prevent tearing it off - she didn't ask to have it plus was on drugs, so who knows what Jack may do if she decided it may stop the pain.
About the bluetooth equivalent - if I were designing something where timing and noise immunity are critical I'd place the source of signal as close as possible to recipient, so I think amp is situated very close to CNS. Also I have a nasty thoughts when Shepard scratches his/her head s/he really tries to reach the foreign object there

Nipples as biotic amps..? Posted Image Okaaaay, time to move on, I think..

Haha, I thought it would be a fun experiment to ask you which your favourite part of Kaidan is (it's fun reading which parts people would tweak if they could), but I can't really pick one myself. He seems to have a kindness that I really like, and I guess that can be a favourite.

Anders apparently has an earring. That's NOT a favourite. His cat better be darn cute.. Posted Image

does it have to be just one part? honestly, I like his sense of humor, his steadiness, his idealism that somehow manages to live alongside with a very pragmatic politically savvy mind, I love that he has standards and sticks to them.

oh crist, I'm going to cry now, I just killed Kaidan on my renegade femshep playthrough and I think I feel sick to my stomach. I mean, he's a fictional character and he's alive in pretty much every other playthrough that I've done, but god damn it, it was hard :/

earrings are not necessarily a bad thing?
