And Selenora, you ought to keep writing quests the like, collect them and send them towards BioWare. I'd be willing to start a petition to include them in ME3, heh.))
Hmm... skipped that original line of who wrote it - don't know why.
No offense, Fort.
Now be that as it may - ya'll keep writing stuff like that, and collecting and reposting them and I am still willing to smother BW with a massive collection of pro-Kaidan quests and ideas.

Curious to know, do you think the fault in Horizon has to do with how Kaidan is written (as in, do you think he was out of character) or in the way Shepard was written? Because I really understood Kaidan's anger, and felt it was in keeping with his character, but none of the responses from Shepard would be what my Shepards would have said. Way too passive on her part.
This, mostly. There were no options for what any of my Shepards would have said in that situation. It wasn't necessarily about being able to shout at him in return, but they would have been able to string words together in an altogether more convincing manner than they were written.
And then, because Shepard wasn't able to reply adequately, Kaidan ends up coming off as badly written too, because he's replying to Shepard's lines, and not in the way he would have replied had you been able to say the words in your head.
It was a poor show all round. I might be able to accept Kaidan would react that way (to an extent), but if anyone was out of character it was Shepard, and all control was wrested away from the player in not being able to pick even a vaguely satisfying reply to him. I think that's key. In ME games you don't have control over everything - some events will not go the way you want them - but you do have control over how your Shepard reacts. On Horizon that control was removed, and the scene played out purely as though it was a set piece decided upon by the writers. Of course ALL scenes are decided upon by the writers, but generally they give the player the illusion of control needed to feel connected with your character. Not so this time.
Like I said, poor show. Perhaps they will be vindicated in ME3, and I truly hope so. But at the moment, I'm very, very disappointed they did that.

I agree, not to mention Kaidan says ''I loved you'', he puts it out there, Shepard says nothing............. NOTHING. Leaving his declaration just hanging there pointlessly, surprised he didn't walk off faster tbh....Pacifien wrote...

About Horizon
Shepard. In order to justify my reactions on Horizon, YOU really read too much in a slopy attent from the writers to make you have a look at the wonderful ME2 LIs. The truth is, i had to be out of the way for the whole game, but couldnt tell you that. Shepard, i know you feer hurt and betrayed. The think is, i know you could not stand loosing me once more. Well, lets hope the writers and developers know how hurt you are so they will bring me back i ME3.
Shepard, when all this is over, i hope i will have a silly 5 min cameo again, but at least we gonna have the chance to .....errrr.......ahem...you know what i mean... especially if you remember the night before Ilos as much as i do.
Take care Shepard....and know that i will be watching you...so dont do anything silly ok?
Maybe forever yours and faithfull

:innocent: I'm writing about that middle picture rather than the top one myself, so I agree completely.
And I'd happily listen to Sbarge read the phone book. Giving him actual dramatic and romantic lines? jillyfae=puddle-o-goo
And really, considering how horribly Horizon goes, I don't think any of my Shepards would've managed much of a coherent reaction to "I loved you". Even if it's blatantly obvious to an outside observer that that really means 'love' current tense or he wouldn't be such a mess. imho, course. Can't really get mad at Shep for not picking up on that though, since s/he's not remotely an outside observer to that mess. (Mine mostly hope that's what he meant, but they're not remotely confident in the outcome. I am optimistic enough for all of us, however. 'Cause if it doesn't work in game, I'll just write my own version.

Just wanted to break my lurking for a comment on the whole Miranda/Kaidan thing...yeah, I'm late to the game, deal with it...for a fic I actually had to think through how these two would interact and if it were possible for them to get along on any level and the answer surprised me.
Both are very aware of who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are. Both know their skills and have little time for false pretenses. Both know how to focus on a goal and figure out the angles of meeting that goal. They know how to utilize the abilities best of the people that are placed under their command, although how they do it will differ.
Miranda presents a front to the world and dares anyone to see the real woman behind it. Kaidan is very good at reading people and seeing the subtext rather than the posturing.
In other words...after plotting it through for the fic I did, I decided the Miranda was the type of woman Kaidan would definitely go for. She is adventurous, after all, and doesn't hesitate to meet a challenge.
I like the bits you've show, jtav, and am interested in reading more. You've put a lot of thought into both characters and it shows.

I agree with all comments. My Kaidan-faithful Shepard, if she ever gets past ME1, would think, "What the hell, why isn' that in present tense?! Should I kiss him? What should I do?!"mineralica wrote...
I'm honestly surprised Shepard managed to say something after "I loveD you", because first words which popped up in my head were "Slap him! Or kiss him, finally. Do something, damn you!". Choosing the side of the wheel after this line was my longest in all ME2.
Also, regarding Miranda/Kaidan...that sounds awesome! One ManShep I have is best buddies with Kaidan, and he wants him to be happy in a relationship.
Do you think we'll see some relationships blossom between teammates in ME3? Maybe Shepard could suggest some.

In my game, he gave that little smile when Shep was all "you had no way of knowing what would happen" and I really started loving him (have only really played star craft at lenght before, and there the romance options were limited). Miranda would never give that type of line. And so, in my game, Kaidan could never go for Miri. I honestly thought there was more to him and Ash than she would admit when asked, and my first playthrough I felt really bad for stealing her flirt and then nuking her on top of it.

As for the Miranda/Kaidan subject, I'm not so sure. I can see the attraction between them, but I don't think Miri would be comfortable with someone who can so easily see through her facade. She's spent many years living up to the notion she's a "perfect woman," and I don't see Kaidan putting her in that category - he would recognize her flaws. Whether or not that's a good thing for either one of them is debatable. The idea has merit.

The thing with Miranda is that she's supposed to be perfect but she still hasn't achieved the level of success that Shepard has. She holds herself to impossible standards because of her genetics. I think Kaidan would work well with her in this regard. He holds himself to high standards as well, but he's messed up before. He'd be able to tell her to not be so hard on herself, which is something she needs to hear.

Well, isn't the point that Shepard can be just about any kind of woman depending on how you roleplay her, and Kaidan will love her all the same? So, in theory, he could basically love anyone.

I can see my Shepards getting all excited and sidetracked when he says that.
Kaidan: I LOVED you! How could--
Shep: Wait, you loved me?!
Kaidan: Um. Yeah.
Shep: REALLY?!
Kaidan: Focus here, Shepard, I'm yelling at you.

Theoretically, yes. I think it will be announced shortly following the PS3 release and then released a few weeks thereafter, so let's say an early to mid-March release.TeenZombie wrote...

I really can't see why they'd wait any longer. It's been, what, four months since LOTSB surfaced now? And I genuinely hope it's the Virmire Survivor DLC, or an Alliance-related DLC in general, in which case the VS's appearance would more or less be guaranteed.

I thought they said something about saving the (Overlord or LotSB, don't remember) until most everyone would have played through ME2. So if they wait until most everyone on the PS3 will have played through ME2, then we could be in for a long wait yet.
