Ah, btw: recently found some KotOR vids on YouTube (decided to evaluate if it worth to fight with Steam again or it;s better give up because I won't recognise what's going on because of graphics). Is it YouTube artifacts or Carth speaks a bit faster than Kaidan and tends to rise a voice? Because I don't say I like the way Carth speaks and this is the last thing I expected from this VA...

I can see my Shepards getting all excited and sidetracked when he says that.
Kaidan: I LOVED you! How could--
Shep: Wait, you loved me?!
Kaidan: Um. Yeah.
Shep: REALLY?!
Kaidan: Focus here, Shepard, I'm yelling at you.
Hahaha, love it!
Since you guys help me put some new perspective into Shepard's part of a piece I had half-written weeks ago, here's (probably) my last bit on Horizon.

As for the Miranda/Kaidan subject, I'm not so sure. I can see the attraction between them, but I don't think Miri would be comfortable with someone who can so easily see through her facade. She's spent many years living up to the notion she's a "perfect woman," and I don't see Kaidan putting her in that category - he would recognize her flaws. Whether or not that's a good thing for either one of them is debatable. The idea has merit.
The thing with Miranda is that she's supposed to be perfect but she still hasn't achieved the level of success that Shepard has. She holds herself to impossible standards because of her genetics. I think Kaidan would work well with her in this regard. He holds himself to high standards as well, but he's messed up before. He'd be able to tell her to not be so hard on herself, which is something she needs to hear.
I agree. Kaidan really is a case in point of ‘still waters running deep.’ Having that sort of depth and stability in her life would do Miranda a world of good.
While Miranda is more like those same waters in winter, a hard, even cold exterior surface that, only once you break through, can you appreciate the depth beneath.

What sort of powers/abilities would an ME2 version of Kaidan have?
He’s a Sentinel, so he needs a mix of tech and biotic. Plus he’s a Marine, so combat oriented features would be well placed.
I say…for his two regular powers, ‘Overload’ and ‘Lift.’ Overload to take out bad guy’s shields, and lift to render them helpless in the air. For a bonus power… ‘Warp Ammo.’ That would allow Kaiden to take on barriers and armor, while Overload handled the shields.
For weapons, there is no question in my mind, Kaidan needs an assault rifle! The man’s a Marine for the love of Pete! Show me a world of spaceships and aliens and rising from the dead, and I’ll follow you. Show me a world where “[NOT] Every Marine a rifleman” and you lost me.

lol But it was amusing watching Kaidan and my adept Shep run around with their pistols! It went "Shepard gets the best pistols" and "Kaidan gets her discards" and then "everyone else gets armed". Though adept Shepard got an assault rifle in ME2 and that was nice, so I guess Kaidan could get one too! Then we'd be back to Kaidan getting second picks though...

MaleShep sees through her facade - in spite of coming across as less intelligent than Kaidan - and she comes to trust him. I think Kaidan can be trusted to not make knee-jerk judgments about anyone, and that's a very big thing for someone like Miranda. I wouldn't dare speculate if they could have a successful long-term relationship, but they'd be able to talk with each other much more easily than most other characters on Shepard's teams. That's a factor not to be underestimated.fortunesque wrote...

As a sidenote, I propose that that buzzword "perfect woman" be avoided in discussing Miranda. Anyone as intelligent as she would know that perfection is impossible. No single person can be all-competent, no single person attractive to everyone, no single person perfect in judging other people. It is unfortunate that Bioware chose to use that term.
Definitely. Kaidan has had more success in dealing with the ghosts of his past than Miranda, though possibly he hasn't had it quite as bad before Jump Zero (is there anything known about his childhood? - Sorry if I appear ignorant, but I haven't studied Kaidan in as much detail as this thread very likely has). The thing with Miranda is that she's supposed to be perfect but she still hasn't achieved the level of success that Shepard has. She holds herself to impossible standards because of her genetics. I think Kaidan would work well with her in this regard. He holds himself to high standards as well, but he's messed up before. I beg to disagree about the level of success, btw.. Miranda's strengths lie in other areas than Shepards - or can you see Shepard becoming knowledgable enough to bring someone back from the dead? One of her problems is that she subconsciously expects all-encompassing competence from herself. She isn't lacking, she only sees herself as lacking.
To get back to Kaidan, it might be telling that I always imagine my maleShep as a bit like Kaidan when I romance Miranda, and ever since ME2 came out, I also imagine one of my femSheps as a bit like Miranda when romancing Kaidan in ME1. Apart from their loyalties, they are an excellent fit. Not without problems, no, but then, which relationship is?

Actually I ususally gave Kaidan the best armor first. I gave him the best pistol first, but my Shepard was a soldier who prefered her AR and her Sniper rifle. I probably would have given him the second best in that case, but only until I could get him the best.

I was thinking:
Somekind of biotic power, Lift or Throw
Overload
Sentinel evolves into Bastion (quicker recharge on biotic and tech powers) and Medic (Squad's Health regains quicker)
Sabotage (would have said barrier but Jacob already has that one as his special)
Kaidan couldn't really use a rifle very well in ME1, neither could he wear armor heavier then light. In the beginning cutscene of ME2 he is wear heavy and on horizon he is using a rifle. I guess after the battle of the citadel he thought he might need to upgrade his stuff.

Hahaha, I always did that... even when I didn't use pistols much. You never know, right?

My reasoning is this - It is the 360 and PC players who are really wanting to see this so it would make sense to release it when ps3 players are getting to grips with me2. Ps3 players that enjoy the game will no doubt buy the dlc anyway. I think that this would keep more people happy... certainly me - I WANT DLC!... NOW!
If there is a further dlc maybe it will be released during the summer and relate more to issues from ME2 which will have universal appeal across all platforms.
If there's only going to be one more dlc I think it will be later though.

I'm going off of what she says after her loyalty mission. She wants to inspire people like Shepard has. To paraphrase what she says, she wishes she could succeed of her own merit rather than just using her genetic gifts.
But yeah, I think Kaidan would try to get her to not be so tough on herself. The affiliation thing could be worked through eventually. After all, Shepard and Miranda can work through it as friends.

I always hated that though. No reason Kaidan couldn't use an Assault Rifle, he was a trained Alliance soldier, and it seems to me that the usage of assault riles would have been part of standard training. It seems to make sense to me that he and even adept Shepard should have known from the start how to use one. I hope he gets to use one when we next see him. XD

Thats what I mean though, he should be trained in it. There is no reason for him not to be. He can't put points into it in ME1 because it says hes not trained with it.
Hell, even Joel has to go and qualify with a M-16 every month, and he will probably never use the thing. XD

He might have fared better if he had use his pistol or, you know, biotics....
@Amy, I want a excuse to shoot a M-16 once a month....

Kaidan and Liara took down Saren on their own with pistols on my first Insanity play. All Shepard had to do was sit back and watch.

haha, I had a similar thing happen on my hardcore playthrough. I was pretty shocked, and also felt bad for taking all the credit.
