In my defence, I'm still reading through this thread that I didn't know existed until yesterday while speed working on 2 6 page minimum essays due today with an accompanying powerpoint for one of them to speak in front of the class on.

I posted sporadically in the last thread and word got around to me that there was some mass locking of the character fan threads and that they were all relocating to private groups because of some of the more...scarily obsessed types were getting out of control and the mods had enough.

Once I catch up on the thread, I'm looking forward to some discussions.

I like the artwork and he's recognizable as Kaidan due to hairbimp, but I have trouble enjoying it because of some of the comments that she and her friends have been making on other Kaidan artwork. she came across as a rabid yaoi fangirl to me - sorry if I'm wrong and being too harsh, but that's the feeling I got.

Kaidan's face is difficult to draw unless you are trying for general resemblance and recognition rather then exact likeness. or maybe its just me :/

yeah, I know.  but the rabidity and viciousness of the verbal tantrum just becasue she doesn't get her favorite character as same sex LI (it didn't appear to me that she was angry about lack of m/m relationships in general, only that they made Kaidan straight) - they make it difficult to enjoy her artwork without cringing.  I suppose its my own fault, for scrolling down to the comments section :/

Ive been quite angtsy waiting on DA2... i dread to think how ill be acting when ME3 draws near... desperately wanting to know what happeneds next for the VS

of course there are super possessive fans of most if not all characters on all sides, but not all of them accuse bioware of being stupid and homophobic, because of romance restrictions on specific characters.

If bioware chooses to retcon ME3 ala DA2 though all I have to say is that my own fandom is basically going to disappear. because I simply cannot be bothered to care about characters if they are not persistent, barely recognizable mostly by name and class, if continuity is something to be spat on and stomped out of existence. they already started with pink armor, horizon and Tali/Garrus romance. I'm still hoping that its not going to go even further down the road, but I'm not holding my breath anymore.

you might end up getting what you want, Catabuca, and I'll end up moving on to different video games and back to books as the source of emotional involvement in fictional universe. Everyone wins? depends on how you look at it.

oh I will..eventually, most likely as an ultimate edition that comes with all the downloadable content, few years later. mostly because I don't care about Dragon age characters or universe nearly as much as I care about mass effect ones, so I can see Dragon age 2 as it own game rather then a sequel (plus the fact that you play as Hawke and not warden - helps with that as well).

I think, you think that I have a problem with same sex romance in general. I don't. I have a problem with non persistent characters and story, I have a problem with continuity being dumped in favor of I'm not even sure what - saving some money by making characters interchangeable? And I definitely have a problem with a notion of putting characters, that were shown as well adjusted self aware people into closet they suddenly decide to come out of because they finaly met the right magical genitalia to show them the way  - its insulting to people of all sexualities.  they only did it with one character out of 4 in DA2, a character that showed a certain preference very clearly, but was not avaialbe as a romance option before.  its still sketchy.

You haven't played the game, leah. How do you know so confidently it didn't work with him? And actually, if they had 'blamed' (I'm confused by that word, being bisexual isn't something bad, why would there be blame?) is on his new ... circumstances ... it would have been incredible offensive. So I'm very, very happy they didn't. The whole thing is handled marvellously, with tact, respect, and with wonderful writing. The only thing I've seen anyone upset about with Anders is the change in his VA (something I am relatively neutral about).

leah, talking about liking women does not preclude someone being into guys as well. A glance at any of the threads in the DA2 forum on the subject of the s/s romances will show you replies from endless bisexual posters attesting to that exact fact. You'll also see the posts where they get offended and angry when straight people come along and tell them how they're supposed to perform their sexuality.

Well it is relevant because the same thing could happen to Kaidan.  He was not bi in ME1 (regardless of what he was originally intended to be), so it will be really dumb if he suddenly is in ME3.  I would hate to see the shock of losing Shepard have such a radical effect on him, lol.  Turning every character bi for fanservice is lame at best and really makes bioware drop in my eyes.  I have no problem with bi/gay characters but at least be consistant with it.  Anders did not come across as bi in Awakenings so its a stretch to see him that way in DA2.

In RL, sexuality is a range. Some people are straight, some like to experiment, some are truly bi, some are interested only in same sex relationships.  Just because we "want" someone doesn't mean that the relationship will work out, or the 'wanting' is returned.  But not every one you meet is bi, and neither is every love interest you will ever have so it's a major annoyance for me( obviously not for everyone) in games.

That's my 2 cents worth, now back to Kaidan
