Yeah, I'm only hopefully that there is a decent mention of either of them, that doesn't force Shepard to put them down or disavow all knowledge of their prior relationship. Anything more than that will be an extremely pleasant surprise.

I think there's still a good chance that Ash/Kaidan are the undercover agent. They wouldn't call Dr. Kenson an agent would they? As far as I know she was just a scientist.

As far as you know, she's just a scientist - doesn't mean there might not be a big reveal to the contrary.  It's also possible the agent is no one we've met or heard of so far, either.

Honestly, I don't know.  I might not even get it if Kaidan and Ashley are in it.  As much as I love them, ME2 annoys me that much.  That, and I don't trust the new writers.   <_<

That's true, she could be a scientist/super secret agent. I just think it's too good of an opportunity to include the VS. I'll just close my eyes and think happy thoughts until it's confirmed that they're not in it >.>

It *is* too good of an opportunity, which is why if Kaidan/Ash aren't in this... I'm not sure I can even bring myself to buy ME3 when it comes out.

Kaidan is why I love ME so much...the plot is awesome sure, but I am there because I love the romance, as some of you ladies said; Mass effect is no longer about defeating reapers for me, it's about Kaidan/Shepard relationship and how it works out while they fight for the lost and the reapers and all that...so yeah.

Potential Kaidan and Ashley is the only thing interesting to me about ME3. Not even the romance, really, just the characters. I liked the Reapers and the Protheans, but ME2 wasn't satisfactory on that front for me, so... it's down to "where do the people I like end up according to the copyright holders?"

Particularly since their original writers are gone. Heh.

I don't think the VS is the Operative as I believe that is the doctor. I do however think there is a possibilty they are a temporary squadmate much like liara in LOTSB to help you rescue the good doctor.

As for the marketing not including any info regarding the vs, well I may be clinging to hope but as only one can be alive in the game it might be a bit of a nightmare as to who to include in the marketing, plus we only have a few screenshots and an outline of what's happening.

One last point, in all of the screen shots so far Shepard is alone which could support the marketing theory that bioware don't want to include them in the shots as there are 2 possibiltys and don't want to alienate either fanbase.

Or maybe I'm clutching at straws and we are going to be neglected once again.

I hope that they are included as squadmates, however I doubt it, because there is just no indication, it could be a surprise, but wouldn't it attract more fans to give even the smallest hint of an appearance rather than none at all? I'm sure there is more promotional material to come e.g a trailer. But once that's done if there is still no indication I will continue to assume they just arent included. I think if anything they will atleast get a mention.

@lovestories I think you are probably right 99% of me thinks I am clutching at straws. I just hope the when ME3 comes around the VS gets a substantial part, though right now I have little faith that bioware actually cares about the vs fans.

If they make no appearance I'm not sure I'll be completely upset, the VS DLC thread was fun, even if nothing comes out of it.

I don't know if I think it's a lack of caring on Bioware's part, I do believe that if the VS isnt in the DLC its because it just wouldn't fit well with what they're trying to do with the character in ME3, so I look foward to seeing what ever that will be. ME3 is coming out this year, so it wont be the longest wait to see the characters again.

Do I believe that they might go back on certain promises, like a "reward" for LI loyalty? Yeah. Do I think they could have made a better cameo? Yes.

Do I think that they have NOTHING exciting planned for the VS ? No, atleast I hope not. They kept Liara out for what appears to be a big role, so why can't the VS have something interesting to? I just think if Bioware were so uninterested in them they could of had them collected in the pods, killed and done with during Horizon.

I highly doubt we'll see Kaidan and Ashley in this DLC and since this is gonna be last story DLC and maybe even last DLC overall, we will have to wait for ME3.

It doesn't sound like it's going to be as big as LOTSB and I don't want them getting the short end of the stick, again. I think Liara got a DLC because she's not going to be recruitable in ME3, at least that better be the reason since it's incredibly unfair for her to get so much attention otherwise. If they're not in Arrival they at least better get a mention, maybe Shepard could ask Hackett about them at the end or something, it would at least be nice to know that they still exist in Shepard's universe.

I don't think there'll be a reward for being faithful or anything, but I am 100% sure that VS is going to be back in ME3 and we're going to have a  romance subplot...just as good as Liara or any other LI...I'm sorry guys, but sometimes I just think we wallow in pessimism too much. Sure the writers are gone, but as far as I know, BW moves writers around a lot, so it doesn't really matter, we're going to get our LIs back sooner or later.

One of the things which gave me those feelings is the fact that the notorious 'Horizon' scene is -imo- in character, the VS is an alliance soldier through and through AND they're shocked/heartbroken when they see Shep for the first time, once they came back to their senses it was too late, thus they sent that "About Horizon..." email.

Do I think Shep was a lifeless husk? Yes. Do I think the scene could have been written better? Yes.

But that doesn't mean it's because BW "Hates" VS, they just found it hard to include them in ME2, so we'll have to wait until they make their final stand with Shep in ME3, which makes sense.

Think about it, plus Ashley is still Gunnery chief on Horizon and Kaidan moved up which is in character and consistent with their stories.

Ashley's Grandfather "Williams" was a character in the last comic, because he was in the contact war. 

Bottom line is, we're not ignored, it's just where the story goes.

I share your worry about the quality of story with McWalters as lead writer, I'm not a fan of his work, but currently we can do nothing but wait and see.

Kaidan's writer is on the Dragon Age team now.  The two people who helped flesh him out are Ashley's writer, who is gone, and the lead writer, who was replaced when he was transferred to the Star Wars project thing.

And I agree if Kaidan or Ashley were in Arrival, Ashley would be the one to get the screenshots.  Which doesn't really bother me at this point.

Have you read the comic?  Because the General Williams there was completely changed from the story we got from Ashley.  I'm all for unreliable narrators, but this guy was nigh unrecognizable apart from name and being in roughly the same place at the same time.

I have and I kinda didn't see it  Never paid too much attention to Ash's character and story...I was preoccupied with a certain LT.

I'm not sure if we'll see him in Arrival. Though part of me hopes he will be, or that we'll at least be able to TALK about him with Hackett? Maybe?

Yes I'd like to know what they've been doing the past 2 years (even if it's vague "classified" info) from Hackett, but I'm not sure that I'd want interaction between them in Arrival.  Seems like any conversation between them would just be Horizon Part 2 and more angst/frustration.  I'd prefer to have their resolution fleshed out over ME3 and not squeezed into a DLC.  I still truly believe that they have an important role to play in ME3 (or else why even make that effort to keep them alive) and a mention of them in Arrival would still keep that hope alive for me.

I've spent the past hour or two going through the first fifty pages, and my god, I didn't think I'd ever find a bunch of people that were more obsessed w/ Kai-Kai than I am (although I say I'm not obsessed w/ him, a bunch of people still insist I am [must be the whole calling myself 'Soren Alenko' thing, I swear on my life I made that named based off of my love of the Mass Effect series and not of Kaidan]).
The pics posted here are great, the posts are hilarious, and I plan on going through the rest of this thread sometime later in the day (almost 1 am here). Also, sorry for asking if it's obvious/well known here, but someone said they were making a fan introductory comic since Genesis is so bad. Was that ever done, and if it was can I get a link?
