I can't tell you how many times I would be playing on insanity and be thinking "oh crap, oh crap, oh crap, about to die" then WHOOSH!! Geth, krogan, merc, etc. are sent flying into the wild blue. Then I hear "Bag'em and tag'em"

I love that line. :)

So regarding Horizon... has anyone used the renegade options during that scene? I know its a touchy, painful moment in gaming history....but.... I just have to know

I have a few times. Usually just keep neutral to make the scene make sense to me.

I haven't picked up ME2 in a bit.... there's no other option to make yourself look good is there?

I just....dread Horizon... I hate it, and Teddy really really hates it....

I've been through all of them, just to see.  I don't remember if I used any of them to get through the conversation "for keeps," though.

I think someone put up a youtube video of all renegade options a long ways back,  too.  :?

I have a few times. I have 12 playthrough of ME2, and only on 4 has my Shepard actually been in a romance with him.

It really isnt as harsh as the Paragon one, and is much Shorter and to the point. Shep isnt exactly mean, or nice either, shes just much more stern and defends herself a bit better by not making excuses for anything, she also is more eager to move on and get to the next mission.

Agreed.

It's not as good as the neutral option, IMO, but it's much better than the, "derp derp!" of the paragon option.  It kind of speeds through the whole, "I loved you," dialogue and gets to the, "You're with Cerberus now?" part.  It's like an instantly jump through the conversation.

Oh yea, the neutral one is the best way to go for sure. I tend to try and stick to that one for my playthroughs where Shep romanced him.

I guess that is a part of ME2 that gets to me a bit. Horizon is a good example of how paragon isnt always really paragon, renegade isnt always renegade, and sometimes neutral is much more of either, lol. It is sometimes hard to know which way you should really be going based on the responses.

Each time I do play either games I do find myself choosing renegade options more and more often as my main choices.

Well in case of LotSB, the 'renegade' option was the only choice if you wanted to have Kaidan mentioned at all. So my paragon Shep went renegade for a moment ;)

I didn't see that as renegade as much as just letting Shepard let some of it out.

And I just now noticed the 's around the word.

Bah.

hehe, well it's a good example of how things are mixed up at times. The whole bottom option is renegade, top is paragon doesn't work for all dialogues. Not to mention the times I got renegade points without really knowing why, but again I suppose choosing a paragon option can lead to a renegade result.

But I'm glad Kaidan is mentioned at least in LotSB, think that's the only DLC that seems to know Kaidan exists at all ;)

Maybe some options that are deemed as good but also aggressive account for those random renegade points.
Think helping the quarian with the c-sec officer and the volus; chewing them out after proving her innocent is a good thing, but it was also confrontational and aggressive.

I don't know anymore.

Neutral options on Horizon with one or two paragon was win for me, I was actually shocked at how much better it got.

However, speaking of Kaidan and his AR in that scene, that is by far my biggest irk in the whole game! Not that he has an AR, but that he doesn't use biotics. And then, during the suicide mission, "I could create a shield, protecting from the swarm, and prance around with it for a long long time. Any biotic could do it." I'm actually getting angry thinking about it..

For the most part that was true; any biotic could create the shield and everyone who has biotics does.

But only the best of the best could make it the entire way.

I got angry at that moment twice - while seeing rifle scene - "let me think... was made for Ashley and just another model inserted?" and when mentioned that biotics can keep the swarms out. I don't think Kaidan is weaker biotic than Thane, Jacob or Miranda who could keep the barrier long enough, and possibly Kaidan was able to take colonists into the safehouse. Please, almost every biotic has cutscene showing abilities, why don't make one for Kaidan in ME3 or DLC?

About Paragon and Renegade options: I like renegade ending of Horizon more than paragon one. Shep says she working with Cerberus, not for them (and successfully proven this at SM), then something about "don't see truth" then, when Kaidan leaves, says Council will try to blame Cerberus just like he did. Paragon end line (join me, and it will be just like old times!) gives only another bitter response, and neutral is plain goodbye which doesn't suit to such emotional situation.
Edit: I'm not a fan of Liara, so LotSB dialogue I wished to hear: Liara: "I'm sorry about what happened on Horizon" Shepard: "Oh, I understand, you're trying to help me. Why didn't you just tell Kaidan about circumstances around Cerberus getting my body? What I was really dead?"

It kills me that when Liara asked who Shepard is fighting for there is no Kaidan option. There is one for all the other romances. <_<

Exactly. And I never ask him to join me. My Shep understands where he's coming from, but he's made his point quite clear.

Yeah, but he doesn't even try. Not even a little barrier. He thinks he'll be more successful using his assault rifle. Maybe his lack of experience using it that is causing him to overestimate its effectiveness..? Seeing it as some kind of "mini-cane".

Oh dear, lol. Try not to think about it, it never leads anywhere good.................... Imagine if, at that point Kaidan appeared from behind a collector crate and went ''S'ok, I got this.........I'll protect you from the swarm''

As far as Kaidan and biotics goes, it is a little weird but maybe the thought didn't occur to him at the time. He had no idea what he was facing and no idea that a biotic barrier would work. Maybe even a little bit of knowledge that non-military people tend to be afraid of biotics (the false whole mind-reader assumption especially) so he chose to try and resolve the problem without biotics since the people were already unhappy with his presence there? It's a lot of maybes, but I don't think it's too far off of plausible...

ETA....

Let's remember that in our own squad, which consisted of AT LEAST two strong biotics - Miranda and Jacob - at the time, we relied on Mordin's science for help, and no one thought of using a barrier until the very end. :P
