Man, Kaidan makes armor look good

Even so, next time Shep's going to a cocktail party I demand we get to bring a date..!

Now that could be a hilarious DLC, with the crew placing bets and whatnot and people getting restless hoping Shep will pick them...lol But I agree, a formal party with Kaidan and Shepard would be squee worthy. Especially since both would be a bit uncomfortable I'm sure :P

OMG Please BW gods make it happen!! I'd love to see it !!:o

At this point I would be happy with Arrival if Kaidan is properly acknowledged in dialogue, given the terrible showing from the last few DLCs in that respect.

I can justify to myself that Kasumi might not have known about Shepard romancing the VS, regs being what they are 'n' all, but it was downright cheeky that Liara only had the one throwaway line about it - she of all people would have known that Shepard and Kaidan were together!

I'm falling on the side that it's too much to hope that our Kai-bear will actually feature in the DLC, but a conversation with Hackett that admits he exists and indicates we will see him again in ME3 would be enough to justify some squeeing. Complete lack of acknowledgement, on the other hand, will make me very cross.

Lair of the Shadow Broker allowed you to rekindle your romance with Liara. Will Arrival offer the same for the Virmire Survivor (Ashley or Kaidan)?
Unfortunately, no. I'm sad about this, but I hope it means that Kaidan/Ashley's role in Mass Effect 3 is super awesome.

That truly sucks...Their role in ME3 better be good...and as squadmates no less.

I'm not even remotely interested in it then.

This. I can only hope that they have a good role in ME3, because all this neglection with the VS just doesn't make sense.

Oh, Mac said in the Live Chat that they know who the community wants to see coming back. Sure they do. We want our "good kid" back right? <_<

I think having this new DLC being a solo mission is just stupid and lazy on BioWare's part. I'm quite unhappy about this.

Oh, did he say that?  I must not have heard him over how bored I was.  Wow, that just makes me feel even worse.  Let's not leave out Tali or Liara.  Those are the ones that really matter.

Bioware ... REALLY?!

Hmm yeah. To me its does kind of sound quite boring now, I'm definately no longer purchasing it on the first day, my interest levels have actually gone down now that I know slightly more about it.

It was in the same breath as "you know, you have to pick and choose which characters you want to bring back and decide if their plotlines are worth continuing."  So, clearly they are aware. <_<

I'm not buying it first day either in protest. Mac said the writers watch the boards. IIRC, we have the longest running fan thread. And the polls show a lot more Kaidan love than is generally recognized. Lips service is all that was. I don't believe a word of it or that all LI's stories are equally important. That's obviously garbage.

That's garbage.  No, you don't need to pick and choose, you committed to all of them.  You don't need to be picking and choosing at all.  I'm glad I had turned it off for this.  I would have broken my monitor.

Edit: @cpolisch, I was about to destroy mine, that's for sure.  He also made referenece to "light characters" but never specified exactly what a "light character" is.  The eternally rational optimist in me says that he was referring to characters like Conrad, but I can't help but be paranoid that it was a veiled reference to Kaidan and Ash.

He did. I was excited about Arrival, but know I'm not even sure if I'll be buying it, not just because of the usual lack of Kaidan.

And yet, if you had planned the trilogy out beforehand and knew where you were going with it, there would be no need to pick and choose.

Well, if anything this all inspires me to be a better writer.  ^_^

Did they even mention the DLC during the Live Chat? I hate to say it, but that was the most boring Live Chat I have seen from Bioware. I ended up leaving. I am pretty disappointed about Kaidan\\Ashley being excluded from the DLC.

I'm honestly miffed. We waited for years after ME1 and got just a couple of glimpses of our favourite character and an email. Now we have to wait a fair spell again; Kaidan (and Ashley, for that matter) simply haven't been treated anything close to equally to Liara. I only hope ME3 redresses that balance - certainly not by taking away any dialogue, quests, or screentime from Liara, but by giving Kaidan (or Ashley) that bit more.

Well, we waited before and we can wait again. :-) Even if I am rather annoyed right now. ;-)

You already are - you don't need to use the wiki to see if the characters you're responsible for are still alive.

I had hope.  I believed the devs in all their interviews about the ME1 LI's.
My hope is gone now.  I don't believe that they are going to be true to their word.  I don't think that they are going to be able to deliver a satisfying continuation for Kaidan and Ashley.
Despite their statements that the stories of the LI's are considered equal, that obviously isn't true.  The Arrival DLC was the perfect opportunity to re-introduce the Alliance Rep into the story in a more favorable way.  And they dodged it.  However, Liara got hers.

I totally called it.

So I officially quit Mass Effect. I'll hang out on AKL because that's my group of peeps, but I'm done with BW as a whole. I'm going to use the site to socialize and that's it.

I know it's hard. But I'm not going to give up until ME3.

Bioware could certainly make it easier for us by promising a large role for Kaidan and Ashley, though. I wish they'd just say something - but, at the same time, I don't think any of us knew that Garrus and Tali would be ME2 squadmates eight months before the game's release, did we? :-/

Fort, it's probably worth giving up following the franchise's development, I agree - particularly when it's such a source of frustration in terms of what we particularly want.  But if reviews of ME3 and responses of fellow fans are encouraging, you could always come back to ME then.  At least you'll still be around in the community anyway.  You'd be a huge loss.

Tali was the first confirmed squadmate. She was a huge part of the hype machine. Why? Because she was ragingly popular. They're going to do everything they can for the majority fans.

We're not majority fans; we get nothing. It's that simple.
