I had a weird dream the other night. In it, BioWare finally released a Virmire Survivor DLC to quell our complaining for it. To play the DLC, you had to go to the Citadel. So, going to the Citadel, you enter through a door after imputting a code and you're treated to...
... the very same romance conclusion scene that you got in ME1, same graphics and everything. And that concluded the Virmire Survivor DLC.

Sounds like your brain got lazy and just decided to reuse old material instead of assembling a whole DLC

Since this thread needs more Kaidan, here's this again (was posted here a bunch of pages ago, a bit NSFW):

Wait, Kurt, what vision? You mean the one where Shepard gets zapped by Object Rho?
*tries frantically to recall*
I don't remember seeing the VS at all in that. It came across as very fast and confusing; mostly what I remember seeing are the Reapers. Or do you mean something else?

Secondly, I'm reading a lot of fanfic where Kaidan has been slightly "improoved", and although I enjoy reading it I'm not quite sure I would actually like Kaidan being more bad ass. I get that he would fit in better with the rest of the squad, but I like him understated and less "cartooney".
What do you guys think?

I agree with the sentiment of not specifically updating Kaidan to fit in with the SR2 crew's flavor of badass, but then I'm not sure which fic you mean, so it's hard to say.

Well, the one that made me think about it most recently was "Manipulations" by akg.writes. I'm really loving that fic (if any of you haven't read it by now, I highly recommend it), and through flash backs you can sense how Kaidan changes between ME1 and ME2/3. It's done really well, but I can't help mourning the ME1 Kaidan apparently lost and fearing that this is what we'll get if we get him back in ME3.
It happened to the other cast from ME1, with mixed results if you ask me.

Manipulations is one of my favorite ME fics, I'd put in on the list of my top 5 Shenko fics. I’ve been following it almost from the beginning. I pretty much drop whatever I’m doing to read an update as soon as I see the alert in my inbox.
Manipulations
I have no trouble buying the changes to Kaidan’s personality with how she presents the story; it’s very believable that it’s a response to the events he’s lived through. She also has tons of very well written flashbacks in it that do show Kaidan as we’d expect him to be pre destruction of the SR1.

Uh, this is basically what I was trying to say. Thanks for making it clearer!
I have no trouble buying it, the fic is great and very believable, but I personally don't want it for ME3. Kaidan not-so-bad-ass Alenko is simply more attractive to me than the new-and-improved version, BUT I'm curious to see if the fans agree since I read a lot of fanfic where he is more assertive/bad ass.
Damn, I do need to make my original posts easier to understand...Sorry about that.

I don't think I agree with the description used, because imo Kaidan IS badass, did you use him in combat?!
lol
But, i get what you mean, i like him normal the way he is in ME, however it would be completely implausible if not even slight changes to personality happen, due to what he's been through.
Akg, in manipulations, handles that pretty well. Just to clarify for all of those who haven't read Manipulations, Kaidan after Shep's reserruction isn't badass in the sense of ME2 stylized badass, no. It's just that he's hardened, you could say. So yeah, I'd like to see a hardened kaidan, because it would make sense with all the crap he's been through.
Again, I don't want to see Kaidan THAT changed, but he needs to be hardened, and has some protective barriers around him whenever Shepard is around (Her death and reserruction are a lot to take, and he loves her!) but I hope BW can do it so he could still be in character

what scares me though is that he might be turned into Anders, that they might make him tortured etc, to make him more "interesting" :/

SHHH DON'T GIVE THEM IDEAS
I worry about this a lot, how he'll be portrayed if he does come back in any capacity larger than a cameo in ME3. I've always said I'll take what I can get, but if he is butchered for the sake of making him more popular, I'll be really sad. I do believe that the writers "got" why people who did like him, liked him. I just don't know if the same writers will be working on ME3, or if new writers will care about that.
Yeah, I will be lapping up any spoilers that come out as soon as possible, before ME3 is released. We'll have to start being very careful in this thread, but I want to know as much as possible before getting my poor nerdy-gamer-girl heart broken again.

I'm probably in a minority, but I really don't like Manipulations. or its a well written story, but I don't like the way the relationship is handled, it feels extremely dishonest to me, all these games. maybe its just me, but I felt like Kaidan wasn't the kind of person to tolerate games or even stay in love with a person who constantly plays them, manipulates him like that. Kaidna has already changed somewhat. since we have to accept Horizon as canon, we see him get less acceptign, more rigid in his believes and values. Kaidan we knew in ME1 is not coming back.
what scares me though is that he might be turned into Anders, that they might make him tortured etc, to make him more "interesting" :/

Thanks everyone. I was fairly certain I had commited an egregious sin with the premise.
