Prompt Start Time:
Monday, April 4, 5:00 pm PST

The Prompt:
There is a certain familiarity that is implied between our favorite L2 biotic, and a particular smart-mouthed pilot of both Normandys, based on the banter at the beginning of ME1 and the offhand comment "So how was Kaidan-- I mean, Staff Commander Alenko." in ME2.  So, let's explore this.

How did Kaidan Alenko and Jeffrey "Joker" Moreau meet? Were they fast friends? Were they merely colleagues? Was it when they first were assigned to the Normandy SR1, or had they met previously?

So, tell me how you envision these two met.

Restriction: No Shepard! None! Let's explore the man who is Kaidan Alenko outside the sphere of Shepard.

Anytime prior to the events of ME.

Creation Time ends:
Monday. April 11th, 5:00 pm PST Voting begins at 5:01pm

For how many decades of fanart in general I've seen with the clear majority of it either being atrocious or just crappy, from what I've seen of the Kaidan fanwork, it's clearly miles above most fanart with quality.  I normally don't have fanart faves beyond what's the most so bad it's silly, but images like the quoted, just...wow...

Cases like that, I love being proved wrong about something.

I think my 'awakening' into there's actually damn good fanart out there started with Jho's work, followed by the KO punch of Aimo.  When I've gone onto deviantart to find bad fanart to post over on a different message board to mock, I just haven't seen any bad Kaidan fanart.

I do hope both ladies have gone to something with pro art because they're just that amazing.

alright, got another fanfic chapter written and up. when it rains it pours and then there's drought. i need to put in some time on my own fic world before the deluge ends.

^ in which kaidan goes through reply messages (warning, smut involved, though i do tone it back so fanfic.net doesn't kick me out, but still, sensitive eyes may wish to skim). I now REALLY wish i could photoshop up a picture of him at this moment.

this song has been stuck in my head ever since you posted the chapter and I read it...but it fits amazingly well, and the chapter is great, as always sneaky, leaving some of the smut to our imagination, but judging by Kaidan's reaction - its good stuff

There are so few times in ME2 where Shepard acts like a human being that it's nice to read fan fictions that expand on that a bit more. nooo, not the end. i have plans for completing ME2 to the end and a separate DLC story (Arrival, mostly). i also have at least another couple of moments that are my head-canon and not in the story as well.

sadly, some of my fave stuff is all this random reunion fluff that i've written, but since i just can't figure how kaidan is going to be re-introduced in ME3 and i can't bring myself to go off-canon, i feel like i'm just going to hang onto it. that may mean in december i have a lot of drivel to post. 

man, i HOPE i get to post some drivel.




Okay, so Kaidan question for you all: What is a line from Kaidan that was probably NOT meant to be sultry/attractive/hot/etc. and yet, every time you hear it, you think it IS?

For me, it's the "Oh God, they're still alive" on Eden Prime. I'm feel like a total weirdo to say it, but there's something about the way he gasps out that first "Oh God," that I looove. I mean, the guy's talking about people getting impaled into zombies, but from the first time I heard that line, I was like, "OOoooOOOooh..."

*shakes fist* Sbarge, you have too nice a voice. Distracting my Shep in battle and all...

when i saw this question i had to stop lurking and answer. mine would be when Shep says he has a little black raincloud over his head and Kaidan replies  "I'll try to keep the deck dry."

This is hands down my favorite line from him. Not really sultry, attractive, or hot but it makes me laugh out loud every time I hear it. Maybe because me and a friend were drunk off our asses when we first played this part, when we heard him say "get a job" we reloaded and played it again probably a dozen times, laughing every time. I can't explain why we found it so damn funny but we did. This is what I point to when I try to explain to people why Kaidan is my favorite character in Mass Effect.

I always crack a smile when Kaidan says he likes the décor at Port Hanshan Plaza. That place is hideous, so I don't know whether he's being polite or ironic.

Agreed

I'll keep saying it, Kaidan (Sbarge) can read a grocery list out loud and I would still swoon like mad There are some good voices out there, but Sbarge's....love it!

yes, so true. and thanks! i seriously had just posted it and found your new(ish?) pic. i LOVE it. now i have your picture stuck in my head as his apartment and i want my shep to be able to find it. i'll likely go poking around the citadel now, looking for it.

Seriously though, where IS the guy after Horizon? he says he's going back to the Citadel, but that's a lot of place to hide the man.

I'm still guessing that the Alliance just forgot to send someone to pick up Kaidan after Horizon.  That's why you can't meet him anywhere.  That, or he's discovered the joy of farming.  ME3 mini-game/recruitment quest: help Kaidan plow fields.  :innocent:
