I relaly hope that they focus on the banter and all the various variables we've accumilated through our imports. romance scenes... they are such a small part of it IMO...Time IS money, you know, animators need to eat and they need to get payed. yes, they have been working on ME3 fro a while, but... they have so many different characters to develop, so many variables to account for - we're getting multiple endings and if I'm understanding correctly - its not just 3 presets. honestly, if it comes down to cutting out a less popular character or 2 - I'd rather get a fade to black scene and get those characters in game, then get elaborate romantic animation and have less popular squadies brushed off. and I do not doubt for a second that in the end - it may just come down to that.
In all honesty, I believe Bioware made a HUGE mistake introducing so many new characters in ME2 while already stating the ones from ME1 (or just the LIs) will be carried through the entire trilogy. I know catering to different tastes sells games, I know fanservices secure sales from fans but darnit you loose so much depth and imo a sense of intimacy, friendship and attachement to a character, if you have this many characters and LIs.
Every fanbase wants 'their' character to return, every fanbase of LIs want a satisfactory conclusion, every fanbase has hopes, wishes and fears about what will happen to their favourite character but we can't have it all. It will come at a cost, no doubt.
Look at what happened with Kaidan and Ashley, both could be dead, Kaidan ended up interchangeable (sp) with Ashley to a point he was even walking around in HER signature armor. That's 2 characters....just....2.
For ME3 we have an entire crew that could possibly be dead, a crew you can't just toss onto a big pile and see who can be copy and pasted over another.
Is Bioware going to spin the wheel and have all characters make a brief appearance for every seperate mission? Count the characters and you can fill a game with character specific missions. One character, one mission, one moment in the spotlight

I just don't understand the need for such a big cast, well I do understand, I just don't agree

Again less is more.
But when you hear Bioware say (it was Mac I believe) they need to find a balance between characters, it almost feels like a game of pin the donkey...or whatever it's called.
I want to say I'm hoping Bioware will stick to the story they want to tell without twisting it too much in the name of fanservice, but then I would be a hypocrit because I do want some fanservice myself for Kaidan lol. In the end they can't please everybody, they never can regardless of the different fanbases.
LOL it's funny really, here I am going...ARGH, how on earth are they going to pull this off...I get frustrated and all I have to do is glance at that now famous blurry shot from that magazine and all is well again

Edit : oohh new art, love it
