No Sebastion...never no no no. If I could have killed him I would have. Worst romance ever.

lol

Never had the real urge to want to kill off a character, even if we had the oppertunity in ME2. I don't care for a lot of characters but I end up saving them all lol

Bet I'll have to make some choices in ME3 as to whom to recruit. (as if those choices are going to be hard :P) Have a feeling I'll rush through the start of the game if Kaidan isn't there yet and hardly pay attention to my surroundings till he's recruited..then I can enjoy the game ;)

This was the problem for me with ME2...I was so busy looking for Kaidan during the first part and so lost when I couldn't contact him the second part that I couldn't enjoy the game. Felt kinda empty.

I didn't used to kill off the characters until ME2...now I've kinda gone renegade...killing off Jarvis in DA2 was fun...Anders shook is head in disbelief and Hawke says "What?...he was annoying me."...one of funnier scenes in my opinion.

I generally kept all my ME2 squad alive but believe me, if there's one I'd like to off, it would be Zaeed. ;)   And yeah -- if I could have offed Sebastian in DA2 I'd do it in a redhot minute!  I've become a bit more flexible about the whole thing thanks to DA2 as well...

Now...OT, I suspect my first playthrough on ME3 will be very smiilar to Jho's -- rush through to find Kaidan and then relax.  Although I'm hoping that, just like in DA with Anders and Fen, he's introduced fairly early on in the game.  *crosses fingers*

I intend to go back and replay ME2 before ME3 comes out just so I can keep everyone alive...I was just so infuriated when ME2 came out that I couldn't have Kaidan in my squad I was trying to make all the new characters pay by getting them killed...I guess the ghost of Anders was playing beside me screaming, "Justice!" or was that "Vengeance!"

Happy to see people are liking the ME3 Kaidan..and Ash for that matter :) Seen several people giving them a chance when previously they never did....funny how much influence a magazine spread can have :)
And yes he does look very badass :)

I'm still chuckling over how many are now bewailing that they cheated on the VS since the magazine came out.  It makes the old phrase "Good things come to those who wait" legit.

Heh, I had quietly been waiting for this to happen because I knew that as soon as they returned in ME3, the righteous indignation over HOW DARE THEY SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY ON HORIZON would fade in light of their actions in ME3. It doesn't matter to me if anyone moves on to a different LI or not, but there were definitely those that took Horizon way too personally instead of seeing it for the plot hammer that it was. =p

Even if they did take it seriously it was more of "Shepard is always right! How dare you disagree with me?!" I felt they were being completely reasonable and I love the fact that some characters won't jump to Shepard's immediate beck and call.

Plus it was in the heat of the moment, things are going to be said that maybe people don't really mean.

Seeing that Kaidan will definitely be playable in ME3 made my day, totally. My husband made fun of me :)

I have no romance ME1 - Thane in ME2 and Kaidan ME1 and no romance ME2 playthroughs to look forward to! Can't wait to see how they differ!

As a player, I was ambivalent about whether or not I'd stay "faithful" to Kaidan. I like romances in games and bought ME specifically because I heard about the romance options. So when I read that the VS were just cameos and there were six yummy new love interests being introduced, I really had a tough time seeing myself wait two more RL years just to complete a romance arc. I hadn't really decided what I'd do yet and then Horizon rolled around. I was blown away with the feelings that he expressed (love and betrayal). I really liked how he stuck to his principles much the same way Alistair stood his ground at Landsmeet. From that moment on, I was completely sold on Kaidan and didn't look back. The contrite email was just cherry on top. =D I thought I was going to miss out on romance in ME2, but I still got it -- I appreciated that "look at his photo" moment before the point of no return. I very much felt like we were still included instead of forgotten. Wasn't even jealous of the LoSTB because Liara is a different character and that story was beautifully told.

Yeah, once I had my romance with Kaidan, I couldn't move on. In my mind, it's like Shep woke up from a long rest, and she wouldn't want to just move on.

But I'm also really glad I did a playthrough without romance so I could have my Thane, too. :)

I don't know what it is with Kaidan and the ME universe. I'm stuck on him as an LI...he's it...My Shep can't romance anyone else. I didn't have any problem with romancing more than one in Dragon age. My Warden romanced Alistair, Zevran, and Leilana and in DA2 Hawke was with  Anders, Merrill, Isabela and the biggest mistake in the universe (ugh...Sebastion.)

Maybe Kaidan (thus far) was written perfectly as far as an LI is concerned. He's definitely eye candy (and I'm big on dark hair) and he a nice guy with a little bit of edge under the surface (due to all the things he's gone through as a biotic...the hint of danger thing). I mean when you find the right one why do you need to look any further. As far as I'm concerned he and Shep were made for one another.

I would probably be the same way if I hadn't done the Thane romance first. I love Thane so much that it was hard to do a Kaidan playthrough, but now I love Kaidan just the same. I just have to think of my Shepards as different women and then it's okay. I wish I had the heart to do a Garrus playthrough, but I just can't do it...

I agree, though, that Kaidan is really well written. I love the way his romance with Shep developed, so much so that I didn't even mind the general absence of Kaidan in ME2. I was thinking about him, so in my mind, Shep was, too. Plus, I thought ME2 was generally more fun than ME1, which helped.

For Dragon Age, I am so stuck on Alistair. I had a fling with Zevran, but broke it off, because I just love Alistair. And in DA2 I am all about Fenris. I'm typically a 1 love interest kind of girl.

Had any of the available romances for a femshep been better written/handled, I likely would've had a Shep cheat just to see what the repercussions end up being in ME3.

I do have to agree that some took Horizon a bit harder than most.  Though had there been options of my own reactions it would've had a dialog wheel for 'Hand Garrus my guns', 'Hand Jack my earrings', 'Head bob & weave with a "You're not walking away from me" that would've promptly been followed with Kaidan not capable of much beyond 'Ow', 'Babe Please', 'I'm sorry' in some combination as we're all heading for the shuttle back to the Normandy.

Currently, I'm in a playthrough that my Femshep want to romance Kaidan, while I was expecting the confrontation after Noveria, nothing happened. I have read some thread stated that if Kaidan response in "Commander", that means the romance is somehow stopped?

Could anyone state out how do I identify my Femshep romance status with Kaidan?

Thank you~ :)

Usually after you speak with him you should get, "I'd like that," following Shepard's "Talk to you later Kaidan."

its the blessing and the curse of the ME1 romances is that they are easier to keep then to stop.  in general, Kaidan is predisposed to like you and all you need to do is talk to him after every plot mission and be consistently nice.
in a first conversation you have with him - he asks you if you get this personal with everyone and I beleive all 3 otpions progress the romance (he'll say - I need some time to process that) - in a second conversation is where you make it or break it.  as long as you don't pick an option saying that you qwere bored - Shepard should start saying "we'll talk later, Kaidan (instead of leutenant)"  and he will reply with "I'd like that"

@teh, @ Jewel

I see, what I'm getting now is after I talked with Kaidan, he responsed as "I'd like that", but if I talk with Liara right after, Kaidan's response changed to "Commander". So that means the romance is somehow stopped because I talked with Liara after? Should I talk with Liara first then Kaidan?

This is the first time I ask for help on the romance, usually it works fine......grrrr >.<

Ah, I see. You must have romances going with both, but haven't triggered the big "choose" scene. This happens if you talk to Liara too much without resolving the issue (which should trigger following a main mission).

Even with the confrontation scene, if you talk to Liara afterwards and choose one of the romance options by accident (which are still available at that point) you’ll wind up with Liara at the lockers instead of Kaidan.

I had that happen once to me, luckily I save often and was able to easily back up a few scenes and fix it.

Edit -
Not nearly enough Kaidan on the page.

Kate and Kaidan before her ill-timed trip out the airlock.

You are right, because my Femshep found both of them so compelling, that's why she still have a hard to make up her mind. hehe
Anyway, at the conversation part, Liara is talking about her melding and Kaidan is about he killed the turian. Once I finished talking with both of them and finish Noveria mission, there should be the big 'choose' scene after debief, right? But strangely there's nothing....

Does that mean I should not talk with Liara until Normandy locked up?

@Hyper_gateway - Just stay away from anything that similar to the romance options with Liara and have a save you can revert to  just in case and you'll be fine. Posted Image

You need to back up before that convo with Liara. If she's talking to you about "melding", you've taken your indecision too far. ;) But yeah, I normally get it after Noveria, which makes me feel just awful, seeing as you're dumping Liara right after she loses her mum.

That happened with me ones, not sure if it will be the same for you, but I didn't get the "choose" scene after my 3'rd mission and it auto Liara as my romance and killed Kaidan's :'(
You can try not talking to her, or reloading or hoping for the best and talk to both lol :)

you know, I've never been able to get that scene...I always just tell Liara that Kaidan is important to me, which basically stops the romance with her.. I just never been indecisive about them :P
