.......and for a woman waiting almost 4 years to have her happy ending with her bf...i will say only one thing: that's dedication :)

Tell me about it, I think it adds to the attachment though...having characters around for so many years. Even though the gap between ME1 and ME3 is huge and ME2 didn't help much either. Yes he's in there, but it's so bittersweet and short..hardly enough to last me a couple of more years but here I am :)
I think my bf will be happy when it's all over and ME3 is finished, so he doesn't have to listen to my babbling anymore...poor thing *chuckles*

I meant rl years :) but its almost 4 years in game too :)

Same here, about RL years :) Don't recall how many years passed between the BG games (rl years) but I love having a main character that's with you for so long. You play said character through the released game over and over again while waiting for the confirmed sequel to continue her story...and when there are companions who take the journey with you, it's just so much better. I can't imagine the Normandy without Joker and Chakwas and even though I had to go through ME2 without Kaidan as my Shep's right hand, he was there in spirit. Hence why I refused to bring the Cerberus squadmates with me the first few times and always brought Garrus since he was and is my Shep's left hand :P

Having them both at Shepard's side again in ME3 is just amazing...full circle indeed :)

@Aslan YES! Dunno what Bioware considers to be a Happy Ending, but I'm hoping we're on the same page about that one ;)

I dragged Garrus everywhere with Kate during her playthroughs and am really excited about possibly putting back together my ME1 team of Garrus and Kaidan. Posted Image

Um...17.500 give or take, but things slowed down after I opened my DA page lol...and since the pics there have been viewed over 75.000 times...I think that explains it :P Dunno what the pageviews vs the actual pic views means though, are people just bookmarking a pic and coming back to it? Or jump directly to it after searching DA for Kaidan? It's amazing.
Really though, so much Kaidan love <3

It's odd, even though I want to return to making a new Shenko piece...I'm rather reluctant in doing so, because I'm not sure just how much Kaidan as changed. That scan doesn't reveal much other than his armor. I feel like I need to go along with the 'new' Kaidan but I don't know what he looks like...does he have a darker 5 o'clock shadow? Has he aged or been made younger? Has his hair really changed or is it lighting? Frustrating ;)

Heh, I had quietly been waiting for this to happen because I knew that as soon as they returned in ME3, the righteous indignation over HOW DARE THEY SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY ON HORIZON would fade in light of their actions in ME3. It doesn't matter to me if anyone moves on to a different LI or not, but there were definitely those that took Horizon way too personally instead of seeing it for the plot hammer that it was. =p

Had any of the available romances for a femshep been better written/handled, I likely would've had a Shep cheat just to see what the repercussions end up being in ME3.

I do have to agree that some took Horizon a bit harder than most.  Though had there been options of my own reactions it would've had a dialog wheel for 'Hand Garrus my guns', 'Hand Jack my earrings', 'Head bob & weave with a "You're not walking away from me" that would've promptly been followed with Kaidan not capable of much beyond 'Ow', 'Babe Please', 'I'm sorry' in some combination as we're all heading for the shuttle back to the Normandy.

I thought Kaidan's part was well written...he responded pretty much the way you'd expect his character to respond...Shep was another matter...I was like who is this person?...but I was shocked even more so when she started talking seductively  to Jacob...I was like this isn't my Shepard at all. I get that it's role play but I really didn't feel like some options were there for me to role play the way I wanted to. Felt like my hands were tied but then I guess that was the feel of the whole game...my hands are tied...I have to work for Cerberus...I have no choice.

you know, I've never been able to get that scene...I always just tell Liara that Kaidan is important to me, which basically stops the romance with her.. I just never been indecisive about them :P

Did it once...I usually didn't bother with it...knew I was going with Kaidan anyway. It's a nice scene though...like Kaidan kinda getting a little hotheaded and fumbling over the thought that Shep is into Liara. It's one of those things where you pick up that there is a lot of passion underneath the surface with him.

Yeah, that's what I really hope and since I'm an optimist, I think we will get our reward :) Maybe I just wear pink glasses, but I really believe everything will work out for us in the end.

I remember when I relalized that we are forced to work with Cerberus, I was really frustrated and I didn't want to have anything to do with the Cerberus Crew at all. I remember how happy I was, when I realized, that Joker, Garrus and Dr. Chakwas were with my Shepard and while my Shepard's heart was longing for Kaidan, she had at least some of her old companions around to help her through the time without Kaidan :)...Well, they did it at least in my imagination...^^

I responded so differently...I was resentful that they were there and Kaidan was not...at least the the squadmates. I loved seeing Joker and Chakwas..actually wouldn't have minded Joker having a bigger part.

And it's still not really a great scan in my opinion. I'm ready for Bioware to release some HD screenshots so we can see clearly every detail. The shot the other day looked like lighting on his hair...the one just posted looked like grey. Kinda frustrating. You could always just play around with what you got until some better shots come out later...might give you an idea of what you want to do with the better quality pictures when they're released.

I've seen several scans now and really, there isn't one that's really suited to be worked with...I tried, but ugh. I don't think he really changed all that much, he just has that badass expression on his face lol
Hopefully Kaidan's profile on the site will be updated soon with the 'new' him and some extra information...who knows. But I doubt they are going to give away details anytime soon...think they want to tease the LI fangroups as much as they can to make sure we keep coming back here lol As if that's even needed, it's more about what Bioware has to do to keep me away :P

With the whole waiting for any kind of interaction with the VS why do you think they went down the Horizon confrontation, would it not make sense to have made it better so that people who only wanted to romance the VS wouldn't be disappointed?

Sometimes I thought when playing that it a somewhat last minute idea.

But i am glad that the VS is getting their turn again, well I hope so anyway!

I have to agree with you  both! One of the things I've really enjoyed about BW games is the ability to have a character that continues with you.  I had to lol when you mentioned BG games Jho, because I still drag it out to play from time to time through both BGI and II and expansions!  And I still write fic about it.  So having Shepard continue in ME2 without most of the original crew was almost painful to me! Not having Kaidan with Tris Shepard on missions felt like I'd had a limb removed.

I can't wait to have more time with Kaidan and am eager to see the possibilities for playing and endings. :)

OK I have just put two bits of Casey Hudson interviews together and tell me, am I being too hopeful? Reading too much into this....?
First quote from a live web chat
''CaseyH-ME2: Yes, it's definitely difficult to continue the fiction when we allow major characters to be **bleep**ed off by player actions. But, that's part of the fun, and the impact of major consequences. One reason that the love interests were not recruitable in ME2 (but are still part of the story) is that they need to be around for the ongoing story in ME3.''
And second quote (from a different source, hope it is OK to post the quote)
''Some characters are going to be core to the story, they're squad members. The whole structure of the story kind pivots around them''

He goes on to say more... but I am choosing to see these two things as connected....
What do you all think?

The Game Informer article did get my hopes up, once again, in regards to the role of the Virmire Survivor and Liara.  I don't think they would have such prominent pics in the article if they were just temporary teammates who weren't vital to the story.   It could be wishful thinking, but it would fit with that first Casey quote you posted too.

ARGH.  I want more spoilers, but I also want November to come RIGHT NOW.

Well, it's Casey Hudson...that makes me very careful to read too much into it. However, the fact that the ME1 LIs got such a spread in the first magazine release instead of the more popular ones...does make me hopeful. We know ME3 is about Earth (Alliance territory if you will), we know the Alliance will play a huge part, we know Shepard and the Alliance will have some stuff to work out, the Alliance will 'rebuild' your bloody ship so you fly under their colours and we know the VS are the ONLY Alliance squadmembers left.
I dunno...that sure works in the VS favor if you ask me.

Imo other important chars would  have to be Tali (for the Flotilla stuff no doubt), Miranda and Jacob (for the Cerberus conflict), Liara (Shadowbroker), and mr. Sanders.
All other squadmates will either follow/are loyal to Shepard, or will return to their duties/go their own way. Those still with Shepard will be there as permanent squadmates (like Garrus) or join her on specific missions. Others may just appear as cameos (Zaeed comes to mind)

Characters like Wrex and Mordin will be important for their side of the story no doubt, maybe Krogan support, the genophage storyline etc. And because there's some balancing to be done, classes wise, I can see us having to choose who to bring along on the Normandy or choices we make will determine who's available.

Okay I'm babbling, I have no idea :P

Oh yes...there's the whole dying bit...that too works in the VS favor if you ask me since Kaidan and Ash can be swapped for the same Alliance impact thingie/whatchawannacallit.

But I suppose other character fans have perfectly logical reasons why their favourite character will be important as well *chuckles*

I hope they are important characters, for the sake of their fans and since for a lot of people they DIDN'T die.

I'm sorry and maybe I'm reading too much into it, but this sounds a lot like people who would say - I hope I can punch/kill/refuse VS in the beginning of the game, becasue I don't like them.

I hope that ME2 character fans don't have to go through what Kaidan/Ash fans went through with ME2.  becasue it sucked (not ME2 specificaly, bath rather having your favorite characters written badly and then pushed to the sidelines).

plus, you won't be able to experience all the array of choices in one game anyways.

Have to say though that it adds replay value to ME2 if certain characters are important for either the main plot or certain storylines, so you have to go back to save them. But I doubt it's going to work that way.
It's not really that hard to save your entire squad in ME2, but it's fun to see if not saving someone has an impact at all because that too will add a little more depth to ME2 imo. So the suicide mission actually means something.

Hmm.

well of course jho :) and to be honest, I have playthroughs with a various dead squad mates as well (not Garrus though, I could never kill Garrus o_O, but I'm almost wondering now what happens if I do kill him...would be as difficult as letting Kaidan die on virmire).

I just cannot wish for characters to lose importance just because I like them less and because they died in some of my playthroughs. heck I even hope that Zaeed makes an appearance... and I can barely tolerate the guy.
