Nah, don't worry...as long as you're not trying to breed a Kaidan then no, you're just the perfect kind of crazy for this place :D

Sshshsh, don't shut it...just don't tell anybody.

Oh by the way, when dose my shift start there?:o:D

Anyway, adding my two cents in to the fandom discussion. Mass Effect is the first fandom I ever take part in, even though I've been playing games since I was ten, I think. I'm eighteen now. But I haven't seen anything here or in any Mass Effect related fandom that is disturbing. I've never actually tried checking out other fandoms, but from what you guys are saying, that's probably a good thing. LOL

I've never really been a part of specific character/writer/fictional universe fandom until Mass Effect, so I have nothing to compare to and I'll be honest, sometimes what I see from others (and occasionally myself) makes me wonder about our sanity. I suppose venturing out and checking out other fandoms might help put things in perspective...

P.S. that chocolate hand manip is.... well disturbing is the kindest word I can find, sorry :/

Yeah Mass Effect hit my Fanart/Fanfic button and stomped all over it. Admitting to writing fanfic makes me feel like a supernerd. But Mass Effect and its character have a thousand stories to tell.

Maybe not a individual game but pretty much every single character in the game could have a book written abouth them. Kaidan's book, of course, would be the one I would be waiting outside the bookstore doors on it's release date.

At this point any Mass Effect content, real or fan-made I eat up. I'm a bad Star Wars junkie. As in, I can quote almost anything from the first (real) 3 movies. And I believe is Mass Effect is becoming the Star Wars of our generation.

@Jenova and Mizz
Dammit you guys.....dammit....

@meonlyred: high five from one Star Wars supernerd to another!

I've been neglecting the forum again so to catch up:

On Kai/Miri- don't like the idea of him being with anyone but Shep but in my head cannon I could see them bonding (eventually) over the fridge since they are both extremely powerful biotics who need to graze on 6000 calories...plenty of time to chat. Miri becomes my Sheps new best friend so she would want Kaidan to get on with Miri.

On fangirl crazy, I'll admit to being ever so slightly obsessed to the point of screaming the house down about him being in ME3 but there are absolutely no shrines whatsoever...promise.

And a shameless plug, I have left all visitors of the NSFW discussion in KAAS a present.

EDIT: I am apparently unstoppable today, here you go;

....annnnnnd now I'm imagining a group of women calling themselves the Alenkowives.  I am simultaneously hilaritized and horrified by the thought; that was a particular brand of fandom crazy I'd forgotten about, to be honest.

I've spent so much time in the Mass Effect fandom that I've become acclimated to the fact that most people here (and especially Kaidan fans, from my experience) are pretty tame and it's caused me to forget about other fandoms I'm only obliquely associated with and the related crazy that goes along with those fandoms.

In truth, the really crazy subsets of fandom do tend to give one a much heightened appreciation for the rational fans.  At least as much as you can look at them and be able to praise the divine that you're not like that.  Throw in taking a few psych classes and you REALLY appreciate the rational fans.

I do have to admit, having grown up around seeing how crazy fandoms can get and the resulting parental talks to deshock me did make the eventual puberty sex talk the easiest one my parents did.

Though...with all these posts we've probably cursed the Alenkowives into existance.:?

Heh, I hear ya.  I have a BA in psych and an MSW with a focus on cognitive-behavioral theory, so I can definitely appreciate the sane, rational fans.  It's one of the things I love about this fandom and, specifically, this thread.  Then again, Kaidan doesn't really seem to be the sort of character that would appeal to those who might be suspect to the crazy.  Gotta love self-selection.

And a Kaidan!

I wonder how Kaidan takes him martinis...

You know what though, Kaidan doesn't strike me as a martini drinker. Beer neither. Nor shots. I see him more as a rum and coke kind of guy.

I'd go for gin and tonic, or bourbon on the rocks. Something simple, but mitigated somewhat. I think he'd want to taste the alcohol too, to make sure he keeps everything under control. With those mixed drinks, it's too easy to go further than you intended.

I' m curious, why everybody think Kaidan and Miranda would make a great pairing ? :)

I agree with you.  I don't think Kaidan and Miranda would get along at all.  In fact, I don't even really want Miranda on my team.  I'd prefer my old team much more and maybe Jacob and Legion.  My femShep always romances Kaidan so there is no way I'd let Miranda get her claws on him.  Besides my femShep is a Vanguard and got pretty dosed up with the toxic biotic powder in ME2 so she's even more powerful than Miranda. Her heavy charge blows Miranda's powers into the dust.  Not to mention femShep's shockwave.  I'm hoping Miranda goes back to Cerberus.

Hrm, I could see a reasonably high scotch consumption after Shepard's death. But I think you have a point, though I reckon he'd enjoy sharing a bottle pear cider with Shep as he comes across as a guy who would have a secret sweet tooth.

*imagines Kiadan eating treacle sponge and gets distracted*

so I got stuck at ****** wikki, giggling at all the knitting wanks >_> still not sure exactly what those wanks are or where does one participate in them and I've yet to find any scary picture O_O some strange references though :P (God's magic pubic hair... /chortle)

@meonlyred you know, even though I've red a few fanfics that have Kaidan drink, I don't think he actually does, because of his migraines. (he's going out for drinks with the doctor on a citadel notwithstanding - she could have been the one drinking most) correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't alcohol tighten blood vessels and therefore not only can give you headaches but can make existing ones excruciating? And Kaidan being field medic, he would know the basics of it, plus dealing with his implants for years would have taught him what to avoid to minimize the effects.

I think he might take some slow sips of whatever, just to maintain the appearance of drinking among friends, but I cannot see him indulging in it much.

I can agree with that. For some reason I see Kaidan as an being a kind expert on alcohol. Not that he drinks a lot just he knows the difference between whiskey and bourbon.

I kind of hate myself right now for this post...

Why, actually, I feel the same. That's why I ask the question. Miranda and Kaidan don't appear to me a great pairing. I try to understand the view of others, but for now I'm not convinced. They don't feel right to me.

It's the same for Kaidan/ Ashley.
I see them like brothers, not a couple, even if shep isn't with Ashley.

When everything is said and done I would expect Kaidan to settle down was a 'normal' woman. I expect Kaidan with a woman in a driven career, doctor, lawyer, businesswoman. A woman who won't gun someone down in cold blood or can go a year without getting blown up. Someone who is going to wait for him back home.

You have summed up my thoughts.

I hate myself for saying that Shep and Kaidan might not end up together. But I very much agree about Kaidan and Ash. I seen them as more big brother/little sister. My opinion on that comes from ManShep version of the Wards scene in ME1. Kaidan kind of scolds Ash for her comment to Shepard.

If Bioware is true to their word, femShep and Kaidan will end up together.  They did say that if your femShep stayed faithful to Kaidan you would be rewarded.  I don't think Bioware would say that and then end up doing something completely different.  If your femShep didn't stick with the Kaidan romance then more's the power but I think Bioware would have a b*tch session to contend with if they went back on their words.

Actually, alcohol makes the blood vessels expand = more pounding.  If Kaidan does drink (whether he has a migraine already or not), he would need to take a **** good pill beforehand and have some in reserve for later.

...And when did I turn into the guy's medical advisor?

All I know is alcohol thins your blood. That is one of the reasons it's not reckoned to get smashed and get a tattoo, you bleed.... a lot. You are also more likely to freeze to death after dranking. I'm not sure what alcohol would do to his migraines. Personally I have never gotten a headache from alcohol, no matter how much I drink. My brother gets migraines all the time, he is on meds for them and everything, he drinks and it doesn't seem to trigger his migraines. But Kaidan is a different case, my brother doesn't have implants in the base of his skull.

Your brother's fortunate with his medication regimen (yay for drugs that work!); alcohol's a big trigger for most migraine sufferers.

Anyway...back to your regularly scheduled thread.  Go, Kaidan!  ;)

Hello Everyone!!! It's time to vote for the:

Kaidan Alenko Prompt Project

The prompt that we wrote or drew about:

There is a certain familiarity that is implied between our favorite L2 biotic, and a particular smart-mouthed pilot of both Normandys, based on the banter at the beginning of ME1 and the offhand comment "So how was Kaidan-- I mean, Staff Commander Alenko." in ME2. So, let's explore this.

How did Kaidan Alenko and Jeffrey "Joker" Moreau meet? Were they fast friends? Were they merely colleagues? Was it when they first were assigned to the Normandy SR1, or had they met previously?

So, tell me how you envision these two met.

Restriction: No Shepard! None! Let's explore the man who is Kaidan Alenko outside the sphere of Shepard. :)

Remember you do not have to be a KAAS Member to vote (you will have to PM me so I can send you the prompts)... All voters are welcome. Just look at the posts and pick you favorite and send it to me. The more that vote the more mail for me ... YAY!!!

If you want to participate, and you don't write or you can't draw... but you have an idea of how you want to see Kaidan and someone else? Well send that to me. We can always use idea's for future prompts!!!! Want to know what we think of Kaidan's friends? What to see a scene from Kaidan's and Shepard's lives? Tell me what you want to see, and I can promise, if we choose it as a prompt, at least one writer will write about it (I just can't promise you'll like it).

So everyone, Send me your vote!!! Voting ends Sunday April 24th at 12PM PST (3PM EST).

Let's go!!!!

Got my GI today (finally!) and I can safely say that no, Kaidan doesn't have a touch of gray now (it's just the lighting), and the sucka busting into Shep's quarters on the Normandy isn't Kaidan with a box of chocolate and flowers.

So, to everyone I said I hated because you have your GIs before me: I now hate you all far less than before. X]

Still better than what I could do.  If it was my art, it'd be barely recognizeable stick figures.

Just finished another playthrough in ME2 while romancing Thane. After the last scene I realised how much I missed Kaidan in ME2. Kate realised that she's still in love with Kaidan, even though Thane also makes her happy. Tricky.
