I "got" the paramour achievement thanks to working on a vid project with someone else's shepard save. *sigh*

all cheevos BUT paramour until now. ah well. it wasn't my shep or my canon, but still it sort of annoyed me.

it's funny, i was playing the horizon intro and my hubby looks over and says, "Hey, wait, how did Kaidan get free if everyone else around him got taken?"

I was like, "YES! EXACTLY!" <--- seriously, there are moments of amazingly detailed writing - like the part where Mordin is talking about how salarians have inherant 'tells' to keep their family safe from their own curiosity, or thane's detailed descriptions of drell culture, and then on horizon it's like wtf? did we just forget to fill in the blanks here or what?

wondering if ME3 will clarify all the VS ambiguity or if it will just stand.

@sagequeen: Yeah ofcourse, but it felt wrong during this playthrough, while during my first playthrough I had no trouble with romancing Garrus, it felt right I guess.

I've also just received my GI (being in the UK sucks)
And am far too excited. I'm ashamed to say I didn't recognise Kaidan at first.
November seems so far away

As someone said in a reply video to this one dude that claimed that ME2 was filled with plot holes and etc:
Horizon is a colony filled with almost a million colonist on it. The Collectors hit the planet because they know that an associate of Shepard's is there, but they don't know where. While the Virmire Survivor is the motivation to hit the planet, they also want to gather the colonist. Before then, they've had no problem taking entire colonies so they're taking their time gathering people, probably presuming that the Virmire Survivor will be amongst them.
Shepard however stops them in time to save both the Virmire Survivor and two-thirds of the colony.

True, BUT they get Lilith (you see them drag her off) and she only got a few yards from Kaidan before she got stung. So they were in his general vicinity.

i like to think there were reasons and all, they just got stripped out for the sake of pacing or something.

Guestimating, it looked like Lilith ran about a good block before she got taken down.  So it's possible what Collectors were in the area just started grabbing and Shep's arrival threw the schedule off.

Heh, I played with my tablet again and tried to get a more accurate Kaidan. I can't resist drawing him. He's too smexy!

its mostly true, bascialy they misinterpreted some of the information from game informer - mainly, virmire survivor's status as a teammate.  if you are looking for a more detailed write up of the article, - the entire thing was scanned and should still be floating online, and there is also a write up in gamefaq forums.

I don't think I am allowed to post links yet (there was talk of banning and such), otherwise, I'd find and post a direct link.

doubtful. they seem to be siting GI only, so I'm guessing they mixed up "squadmate to an extent" with "cameo appearance"? they haven't really mentioned a single new thing other then this titbit of information.

Considering Mass Effect is Bioware's big sci-fi IP that they've repeatedly stated they have many plans for beyond the Shepard trilogy, it makes complete sense for them to be tightlipped.  The franchise has proven that western based RPGs can well hold thier own against the JRPG monolith.

With that said, it fits that the only information that'll be dished out will be with media that branches across all the available platforms of the game.  GI, E3, IGN, the forums here..etc... so everyone else will be filtering through the official release stuff.  Another thing to concider is reviewer bias.  They're the same as us here with thier faves, dislikes and whatnot so no matter how even keel they insist they are, the bias will still be there and lead to misinterpreting info, highlighting minor things and glossing over major.

So for an example, a reviewer who loves the hardcore shooter type game will tend to focus more on those aspects with maybe throwing a bone towards the RPG aspects and unofficially sending the message that ME3'll be more like a hardcore shooter.  Equally one who favoured a different character like Liara, Tali or Miranda will be more focussed on reporting their appearance in game with a possible mention of the VS appearing somewhere and making it sound like they've been flung in like a background character.

At this point unless the info's coming from the mouth of Bioware, or a major unveiling like the GI article or the reveals at E3, I'd give anything else barely a notice.  We're all still at the stage of having little information and speculation everywhere's at an all time high and likely will continue until Bioware decides to tantalize us further.

Rumors will be floating around for months and it's way too easy to speculate and become upset over possibilities.  I think the GI article was pretty clear that the Kaidan/Ash would be returning as squadmates (personally I suspect their interactions will be similar to the LotSB with Liara).  Also -- since the day ME2 was released Casey Hudson has said that the VS will play a prominent role and the LI stories would be wrapped satisfactorily.  I believe his comparison for happy ending was Indiana Jones and as we all know, Indy did get Marion in the end.

Just wanted to say hello, I have been following this thread for a while to deal with my crush on Kaidan
I've played ME and ME2 so many times now, but always end up playing a paragorn Shepard who stays loyal to Kaidan...I have tried romancing Garrus, thane and jacob, but I always end up feeling horribly guilty and having to go back to a previous save to stay loyal to Kaidan.
I have very high expectations on ME3 and I hope that bioware won't crush my fragile little fangirl heart.

I was very glad to hear that he will be a squadmate in ME3, and I'm hoping that Horizon was just a way to set up conflict to enable a more dramatic (but romantic) reunion in ME3.

Also wanted to say that I am very impressed with several of the pictures in this thread, you guys are very talented indeed!

You're not the only lurker. I didn't feel guilty with Garrus though. Mainly because he was around in ME1 and they have a history. And I also love Garrus.

Just finished another playthrough in ME2 while romancing Thane. After the last scene I realised how much I missed Kaidan in ME2. Kate realised that she's still in love with Kaidan, even though Thane also makes her happy. Tricky.

Same here with Garrus - sigh - don't like the call LI to your room so you can cuddle a blow up version of them on the bed, or sit on their lap - very surreal - especially as they don't talk
