They did the same thing with DA2, there is dialogue in DA2 were ManHawke refers to being pretty and wearing dresses that are not normally available in game. That dialogue is probably just test.
I'm not opposed either way. I play Shepard as a reflection of myself. Kudos to those who wish to play their Shepards the same way.

I buy the 360 copy.... I just need to have the disk in my hands.... I don't get what this Steam thing is... o.o
Steam EDIT: Stupid links aren't working!!!
I LOVE Steam! They have a lot of older games on it. I rebought KOTOR not to long ago on it. They don't have everything but they do have a lot. The only problem is you don't physically have the game in your hands. Meaning if you share your computer with someone else. They have to be under your Steam account name to play it.

O_o So its games for PC.....without buying a disk? Cool.

What I really like about Steam is the games you buy or get gifted with are tied to your account so you can easily just redownload if you had to delete something for more memory or have a hard drive meltdown. It keeps track of the CD keys as well so it's not like when you'd have to hold on to a booklet just because of a key.
Before buying games, I would recommend checking the Steam Forums for any reported problems. I was about to buy Sid Meier's Pirates since I can't find my second disk for it and it turns out the download version's got something wonky going on in the .dll files.
And so far there's been no solid confirmation on Spectrehood for Kaidan. There's so much misinformation in the PS3 magazine everyone's skeptical about any info from it at this point.

Most places have ME1 on greatest hits right now, making it about $19 or so. I know Steam has it for $19. To get the full story and experience of ME, it is definitely worth the buy.
The only problem with Steam is that my younger brother and I both play (and I'm not buying two copies!), and it would get a little annoying since we both want to play at the same time - we had enough trouble organising DA2 on steam together, haha.
I'm an Aussie, but I don't know what deals are on at the moment - havent been to the gameshops in awhile. Can usually find it on ebay for $20 or so too. I'll see how I go! I will definitely get it eventually though - in the meantime, need to resist playing ME2 since I'll just have to replay after using the import, haha.
I don't like shooters much either, so i cheat my way through both ME1 and ME2
The cheat console for ME1 gives you super armour for humans, so oh dear i just had to have kaidan in my squad all the time, such a shame
I'm not saying you should cheat but if you don't like shooters much then it all becomes a lot more fun (I laugh endlessly at wading into bosses when they can't touch me, but thats just me

But being untouchable to bosses does sound intriguing....of course, if they can touch me and I do die, I can play my teammates desperately trying to save me! (something which DA2 definitely provides for with your LI actually having unique dialogue in the battle if the PC "dies").
I'll definitely get around to buying ME1 soon. That game pretty much had me at Raphael Sbarge!

Like I said earlier, I'm not too crash hot with computers unless I have ridiculously clear step-by-step instructions (well, I'm not that bad, but I definitely prefer it when i know what's going to happen and where I'm supposed to click, haha), and I'm not a huge fan of randomly downloading things from odd websites. So I've never really used mods or cheats much.

Well, in case you're interested in trying it when you get ME1, let me introduce you to my favorite page on the Mass Effect Wiki: http://masseffect.wi.../wiki/PC_Cheats. The instructions are pretty clear, and I've found that if you just give yourself an awesome gun and armor, you don't even need God Mode in ME1, but that's just my experience. I honestly know next to nothing about this stuff, but as long as the instructions are clear, or I have examples to work from, I find mods and console commands pretty easy to use. Give it a try, and see what you think.

I'm also stuck in DA2 right now =) ahh... love it!! Recommend the ME-series. Between ME and DA all my gaming-time is pretty much spoken for. Gotta listen more to the LI next time my Hawke dies... have missed that so far.

I'm not 100% sure that Kaidan or Ash were supposed to ever be bi in ME1. The dialogue for ManShep and Kaidan is one sided. Mark Meer did record Kaidan romance dialogue, but all Kaidan's romantic dialogue refers to Shepard as a woman. Jennifer Hale also recorded Ash romance dialogue. But it was only those two voice actors. No one else recorded dialogue that fit same sex relationships. But then again, I could totally be wrong. It happens a lot.

I'm not sure if it's possible to know whether the voice actors for Kaidan and Ashley recorded unique s/s dialogue, because the method for for modding the game to unlock the romances involves using the console to reset Shepard's gender. So all of Shepard's lines get changed, but changing the gender with the console doesn't change the dialogue flags that govern how the other characters react to Shepard: everybody still thinks he's female. So there could be unique dialogue, it's just not coming up because everybody is registering Shepard as female? That might not be the case; I'm not claming expertise...

I believe people have already dug into the audio files for the game - that's our best indication of that. So far as I know no one has seen recorded audio files fom the love interests (besides Liara of course) for same sex romance. I myself have looked into the ME2 audio files - there are none there either.chq wrote...

those are the ones collider mentioned - with the game reading you as oposite gender, but few recorded by Hale/Meer lines. the reason why animations (for the first half of the romance anyways) work is because when they were designing the game, they had to make sure that all cutscenes work the same way for both femshep and maleshep - therefore femshep and every other female model in a game has super long neck, super long limbs so that she is the same height as the male models. in case of Kaidan - shepard becomes female in a second part of the cutscene becasue they never did the animation using male model for that, and in case of Ashley, it doesn't have to be changed in any way, as animation for Ashley crawling on top of Shepard already exists, as well as animation of femshep laying down, waiting (for Liara romance).
the intent was originaly there, but the actual writing was cut early enough that there are no unique lines in existance for same sex romance with Kaidan/Ash (what you hear in Hale/Meer's voice is the lines that are already in the game, they just had both of them record them.. maybe cause they could? maybe as an easter egg? maybe because they knew that people will mod their games and its a little gift for the fans? we don't know and they are not telling)
voted on a poll.
in regards to ME3 and Ashley - yes, she will be in it and she got a redesign too. spectre status is a speculation only, it has not been confirmed by bioware as far as I know. information in playstation magasin is part their own speculation, part mangling of game informer infor as well as that spanish magazine, whose name I cannot remember

I kinda took Collider a bit too literal with audiofiles being just that and not animations as well. In my defense I was bouncing between checking forums and working on a final paper for my Death & Dying class. For the record, writing one's obitiuary sucks.
Though back to topic. When it comes to buried files like that in any game, I'm really not sure how one is to regard it. It's content not easily accessed without someone nosing into the game's coding and causes oddities when accessed, do you count intent when the content wasn't put into the finished game since you're left with just a said reason if someone does comment which may or may not be the actual reason as to why the content was cut, or wonder why they didn't just remove the files to make space for other content if it was a tangent they weren't going to go with.
I liken it to deleted scenes from a movie, the work and filming was done, and it's not until you're listening to the commentary track and get different comments as to 'cut for time', 'didn't flow as well as we hoped with the rest, or 'just wasn't working as much as we wanted it despite all the editing we tried'.
Looking at it from all angles, it's horribly confusing as to how does one regard it since no one sees the same on the concept.

You're welcome, Teen! I love her art as well; her style is very refreshing.

This is one of my favourite pieces from her dA gallery.
