Since ME3 is advertised as a stand alone game i think they will add new char and new LI as well.
I hope not tho and i think many fans, regardless of what LI they chose, feel the same.

Well, technically all the ME games are stand alone games.

So far only things I've heard about it though is this quote, so maybe I missed more indepth info somewhere:

"All of the the Mass Effect titles standalone. The beginning of Mass Effect 2 is really meant to let players experience Mass Effect for the first time. We really want to look at Mass Effect 3 as a standalone title where the ending is going to feel satisfying."

I am rather sure standalone in this manner means that each game can be enjoyed alone, they each have a story that has a concise beginning and end to them. It doesn't really sound like to me that they are saying everyone gets cameros again, but more like they are just going to try and make it make sense for new players.

They are going to make it where a new player can come in and pick up and get into the action and play the story and understand whats going on, but they doesnt have to mean brand new squadmates and LIs, but most likely it will be a new introduction to them.

Maybe if you didn't get the chance to romance already existing squadmates/LIs, then maybe you will be get the chance to in ME3.

Creating all new squaddies, writing all new stories for them, and hiring all new voice actors is a lot of work. I really can't see them scraping most of that work from last game in favor of doing it all over again for the next.

If they do, ugh. I will have to start questioning my fangirl status, lol. Would be such a ignorant move on their part.

I believe the ME2 squadmates will get cameos much like the ones in ME2. At best. But this isn't really the place for that particular discussion and I believe there is an appropiate thread in the Official Campaign Quests & Storylines forum. So, how about a Kaidan?

So ME2 universe is a lonely universe or my Shep: She may got a bigger bada** SR2, better armor, sexier sniper rifle, the respect and admiration of her crew / buddies but... without Kaidan, the whole thing felt pretty empty :(

Btw: I kinda like Jacob, maybe because he's the only one who called Shep "Commander", so we instantly become buddies. I just wished he has a friendship track on it :bandit:That wish also applies to Tali and Garrus who seemed to be more interested in cleaning the engine & calibrating guns :bandit:. I felt kinda dissapointed that they didn't mention anything about Kaidan after the event on Horizon. I mean c'mon, it's not like they wouldn't know that there is something going on between Shep and Kaidan back then.

I always interpret that as '...ah crap. Well I don't want to open up a wound so I won't talk about it unless they bring it up' sorta thing.

The only problem is that we don't get a chance to bring it up.

So much for RPG -_-

Well, this. But I will be very excited to see ME3 (and the next DLC too). I just hope I can stand the wait and avoid spoilers. Image IPB

I am still hoping very much for Kaidan/Ashley DLC.

I need to know whats happening with Kaidan and what mission he is on that Cerberus doesn't even know about, Shep is nosy and wants in on it. XD

I don't think Cerberus really don't know where he is, but completely agree on nosy Shepard

Nosy Shep has nosy EDI to sort through the nether and see what he's been up to. Nosy Shep also has nosy Liara to hunt him down...to love him of course.

(Must say, I had a minor freakout after being gone for a week. I went to check the thread and saw it was locked before I read Pacifen's post. I may or may not have done the Vader, "NOOOooooooo..."

I believe TIM was blatantly lying when he said that he had no information on Kaidan/Ashley, just like he was lying when he said that Liara was working for the Shadow Broker.  He admits as much when you learn he tipped off the Collectors as to Kaidan's location, just to see if they would attack.

I hate TIM soooooo much.

I don't hate TIM, but I do think he was lying. Trying to engineer things so he's our only option.

Question: how hard is it going to be for Kaidan to ignore someone getting assaulted in a situation where he's undercover and can't break character? I'm vacillating between he would grit his teeth and do his duty and he would have to be forcibly restrained to not intervene.

@jtav...it's unlikely he would need to be forcibly restrained. Kaidan's a solider who follows orders. If a superior officer has given orders that he not intervene, he won't, no matter his personal feelings on the subject.

Of course, this is subject to a couple of other factors. If the victim were say, a child, he would intervene no matter what.

I guess TIM is just SO determined to break Shepard's connection with the Alliance and keep her for himself (or Cerberus for that matter) If the Collectors managed to nab Kaidan/Ash then he has succeded in erasing one of Shep's reason on wanting to go back to the Alliance. If the Collectors failed to abduct K/A, then he will have succeded in creating a rift between Shep and the VS as the Alliance rep. It's a win-win solution for TIM.

@Loki: I think I can understand your point of role-play though. But still! Wouldn't it be nice if there is an option of being able to brought the subject up ^_^ like what Elysis said ^_^

I figured that TIM was almost definitely lying about Liara, but hadn't thought about that extending to Kaidan. Even more reason to hate the bastard!

So far I've romanced everybody in ME2 except Thane (I'll get to him eventually). You folks without the ME2 Paramour achievement aren't missing much. I have one Shepard that stayed loyal to Kaidan by choice, and another that stayed loyal by default (she "Renegaded" him in ME1, and then was so mean to everybody in ME2 that nobody wanted to jump her bones, not even Jacob).

Of the new character romances, I'd probably say Miranda's is the best, but it isn't a patch on Kaidan or Liara from ME1. The Liara romance continuation from Lair of the Shadow Broker is the best ME2 implementation of them all, I thought it was really well done. Worst romances are probably Tali and Jacob. Garrus' is kinda funny, but a bit—counterintuitive—and Jack's is pretty decent, if brief. I love the non-romances between Shepard and Mordin and Samara better than any of the actual romances (except for LotSB Liara, of course).

I've always been surprised he knowingly sent you after Tali, actually.  I can only assume he hoped the dark matter/dying sun info would be useful for Cerberus too.  Plus, you already snuck Garrus on your ship, and are still mostly following orders, so he loosened his restrictions?

Maybe, though the way I see it he's a little more willing to allow Garrus and Tali because (in my opinion) those two have never showed a willingness to stand up to Shepard the way that Kaidan (or Ash) does.

Garrus and Tali will express concerns, but ultimately I see them as more "go with the flow" types when it comes to Shepard.  They have a mentor/student or older sibling/younger sibling relationship that makes them more inclined to follow.  I think TIM figured that dynamic out.

Kaidan, however, would be a little more likely to press Shepard to think on her own, especially if they have a history with each other.  Which is exactly what TIM doesn't want.

Seconding to this, although I feel fans of Tali and Garrus will eat me alive. Also I have a feeling that TIM picked entire squad as "ends justify means" types (Mordin, Okeer, Zaeed, maybe Thane) or "I don't care I do my job" (Samara, Thane, Kasumi). Plus one psycho. He wanted in the end only loyal to Cerberus types were vocal (so VS should be avoided). What can I say, his psichologist successfully failed.

I don't think he knew Garrus was Archangel, and Tali's too... wet behind the ears to object to much Shepard does.

But, the VS is definitely the one most likely to call bull**** on Cerberus and TIM.

I agree that TIM is trying to keep Shepard away from her old friends. TIM totally didn't want Garrus or Kaidan back in her squad, but only was okay with Garrus because he thought that he would keep her complacent. I don't think he seen Tali as a treat to his influence on Shepard. He sees that Shepard would influence her more then the other way around.

This so much.  I've also wondered if he thought that keeping Tali on the squad might help to neutralize the volatile relations between Cerberus and the quarians.  What his motivations behind that would be, I'm not certain, but it did occur to me.

He definitely would want to keep the VS away from Shepard though.  The VS would have thrown a serious wrench into his plans.

Shepard should have gotten in touch with Hackett and/or Anderson and convinced them to assign Kaidan.

I wonder what TIM's response would have been if Shepard had contacted him with, "I've recruited Kaidan Alenko, and he's going to be on the team whether you like it or not."
