After numerous playthroughs of Horizon, (although at first I was like wtf) I now kinda like the fact that Kaidan sticks up for himself/his principles.
People seem to think just because you love someone you must agree and be a pushover. That's hardly the case ever. With previous boyfriends they have done many thing's that I disagreed with and vice versa.
Again on Horizon I think it shows that Kaidan has grown and doesn't need Shepard to fight/ be strong against something even if it's against her.
But then I am a Alliance supporter and loved the fact he stuck his ground, the only issue with Horizon is the dialogue choices. None was to my favour or choice of situation.
Hopefully that wont be the case for the reunion.
Bloomy heck, I'm very awake this morning.
Hindsight and perspective are wonderful things.......
Same goes here, hindsight and perspective, but add to that..... >CulturalGeekGirl wrote...
My original reason for being upset at Horizon was simple: if my original Jane saw Kaidan die, and then suddenly it seemed that he was alive again, she would be cautiously optimistic, and trust but verify. In other words... she'd say "Ok, I'm going to believe you for now. I can't join you, but I'm going to look into all this. When you can get away from Cerberus, come find me." When Kaidan didn't do that, she wasn't upset that he disagreed with her... rather she was upset that he didn't trust that she was still a good person, and give her a chance to prove it. The letter later does a bit better job of that, but it's still a little touch-and-go.
That said, my Femshep hasn't had any need to develop that kind of defense mechanism. Kaidan was almost crippled the first time something like that happened to him, and then the next time he really opens himself up, he gets hurt even worse, only he doesn't have the luxury of paralysis. So for him, caution is understandable, even wise.
People classify those who are angry at Kaidan as wanting a yes man, and from what I've seen that's normally not true. It's more that they want a "maybe" man, and someone who errs a tiny bit more on the side of trusting you. If you're foolishly in love enough to trust a zombie Kaidan, why can't he be foolishly in love enough to trust a zombie you?
The thing is, I've finally realized that expecting Kaidan to be that guy isn't reasonable, considering what he's gone through, and his known coping mechanisms.
We have more knowledge than Shepard OR Kaidan... we cannot help but metagame and it is easy to judge Kaidan and Ashley with all the info we have.
But it seems they were right, no? Based on new info being released.. Like Cerberus being out to get us..
I mean Kaidan states that he thought he knew her, he is having a kneejerk reaction to seeing her standing there alive after knowing she died AND had ordered him onto a shuttle, p*ssed? Too right...... The email is proof that it was a kneejerk reaction........... You can almost see him arguing with himself in it. This is someone who truly loves Shepard but has enough integrity to question and is honourable enough to say no to something that he knows is wrong!
Horizon was handled badly by BioWare, however maybe they meant to do it, to test the gamer. It seems to me on the various forums on BSN how the same game can bring out so many different reactions in folk (Anders is a perfect example of this) and I think it is a very interesting thing probably, from a psychology perspective, you know? What pushes people's buttons, what people will, or won't justify and so on. The list is endless really
Top of the page always surprises me, lol....
Hang on..
