I think it'll be either bring her in, or support at the trial...

Kinda unsure as to how Hackett will aid Shepard, he sent Shepard there in difficult circumstances, he could be said to be as much to blame...There was nothing she could really do. So I believe that Kaidan should believe her, if Hackett defends her...

There is no clue as to how it'll play out

I think Hackett will defend her...as he said she was preaching to the choir...besides he's always had a soft spot for her. He kinda comes across as someone that isn't afraid of the politicians and the media...I don't see him stabbing her in the back to save his career...like Anderson he's seems willing to stick his neck out for her. Of course I'm wondering just how many of Shepard's former associates are going to show up at the trial...the intial attack would be the perfect place to kill someone off. Bioware has a tendency to kill people off right at the beginning anyway...Jenkins...Wilson...Bethany or Carver...and on and on.

Will he? I thought he needed to distant himself as much as possible from Shepard's action in order to stay in position.

Unless she turns out to be a clone or a robot or something.

Anyhow, one of my tolerance thresholds for ME3 would be having Kaidan/Ashley groveling at Shepard's feet for forgiveness and other such buttkissery.  Whatever else they do, I hope they have a massive variety of dialogue options so different people can get the different results they want.  Probably a pipe dream, but....

lol I don't think she is a clone but I was wondering if Cerberus might have kept some of her genetic material. With them working with the Reapers you never know what they might create. We might get Shepard vs Shepard.

I think that was when he had sent her to simply rescue Kenson(something that could easily be kept under wraps)...I just don't see him selling her out for himself...he talked about her still having honor (at least in the paragon playthrough...might be different for renegade...I haven't completed one of those yet). I think if honor is something that is important to him that he'll do the honorable thing...but then again by ME3 maybe he'll be indoctrinated...who knows.
But if he doesn't tell why Shepard was there(or his part in it) I don't think it's going to matter all that much anyway...it's not why she was there or who sent her...it's what she did. And in that I think he will say that he agrees with her...that she made the right decision.

I don't mean it in the sense that Hackett sells Shepard out. He will post-pone the trial as long as possible. But didn't Shepard make the decision (no matter what) to sacrifice herself for the sake of the galaxy and show up at the trial and be convicted. Just to make sure the Batarians don't declare war on the Alliance in an extremly inconvienent moment. And if Hackett defends Shepard, it possible compromise his position.

Hackett said something along the lines of it being difficult to get aid from the rest of the galaxy if they were in a war with the Batarians...maybe that doesn't mean impossible...if Hackett thinks Shepard is the only one that can gather enough Allies to defend Earth he may not have choice. Maybe some sort of decision at the beginning of the trial will determine whether or not the Alliance enters a war with the Batarians or not...making it less or more difficult in the game...would be in keeping with some of the other decisions we made in ME2.

and for some Kaidan:

This (biotic) pic reminds me of what Jack said about pain supposedly breaking down mental barriers and making biotics stronger. I always wondering if it was the physical pain or emotional pain that did that. Both she and Kaidan (at Jump Zero) suffered both. I know that the physical results of being a biotic stop around the teenage years (if I recall right). I just wonder if those barriers can be broken down further through pain in their later years...because I would imagine that Kaidan went through the worst emotional pain of his life after Shep died. I guess after seeing Jack and Samara put up that barrier in the final run of the game and then blow the enemies away after holding the barrier(which blew me away) I want to see something just as awesome from Kaidan. Just thinking out loud after seeing the pic.

I find Casey Hudson's twitter to be fun to read, he posts a lot of ME3 stuff without going into spoilers beyond what is published already. Anyway it seems opinions and feedback are welcome.
Do we have any where Kaidan is concerned? I think the biggest wish we had has already been granted with him being confirmed as a permanent squadmate (which reminds me, I need to change my banner lol). For me the news that Bioware is focusing on less squadmates to create deeper relationships, is another wish granted....and with the possibility of party banter returning, it's another box that's checked for me. It just means more dialogue for Kaidan, I think...which is always a good thing.

Have a feeling Sbarge will be busy ;)

To be honest, I hope we don't get any other information about Kaidan from here on in. It's enough to know that he's going to be a permanent squadmate and that you can, in fact, continue your romance with him with a potential 'satisfying ending'. Anything else I'd rather find out while playing the game itself.

I wouldn't mind a bit of info here and there to make the wait for 2012 easier and knowing Bioware, they won't give huge spoilers etc where LIs are concerned. After all they want us to keep visiting their site and forums frequently and romances are a hot topic lol
Or a few screenshots with Kaidan in the background fighting and stuff like that.

But anyway, I meant suggestions of what we want to see in the game..not in marketing etc but again the main boxes I had on my wishlist have been checked. How deep the relationship will actually be taken and how it will end, will never be spoiled by Bioware anyway....and I'm thankful for that because yes, I want to experience that for myself ingame :)

From the topic about new screenshot, sadly without link:

dzieciol1992 wrote...

It's me again with new information
about ME3, but this time with spoilers so don't read if don't want to
know the elements of story.
Ok so lets start:
- Shepard and
companions can connect their abilities, but not like in ME2, it could be
able to connect for example Cryo ammo and Concussive shot of one hero
-
each of specialization will have their special abilities and they will
be able to use the tools for fighting for example Omni key
- the amount of squad members will be reduced
- they will not be new romance options
- Shepard will land in megacity Seattle-Vancouver
- we will control a huge mech to fight againts one of the reapers ship
That's all for now.

Vancouver? Either my memory glitches or the idea about Kaidan's parents on the Earth during Reapers attack just got a new air.

I'm going to wait for a release date and then gradually try and not come on here too often. I want to know enough but not so I know step by step whats going to happen.

My first playthroughs always end up with me doing a big mistake which annoys the hell outta me, but then when I replay I know what to do and then I count my second playthrough as my "real" one.

DA:O/DA2 tricked me a few times were as ME1/2 I always did a perfect first run through.

But I got a feeling ME3 could do a DA and have different consequences...

What I would love is some videos of Kaidan in game or a trailer with him in it, but knowing our luck it probably be Ashley more but with the screenshot being of him rather than her I can hope.

*fingers crossed*

LOL, actually I meant that it could happen between ME2 and ME3, rather than as part of ME3; Kaidan could be sent out to bring her back to stand trial. If Shepard has to escape during the trial, Kaidan better be there handing her a gun. :D

Oh, my bad. I guess that works too. xD

Maybe that seals the deal on his promotion to being a Spectre? Turning an alleged Alliance traitor in, doing what needs to be done despite their history together? Which isn't really such a bad arrangement if you played paragon on Arrival.

lol     Posted Image    it's the same thing for me. First Shep/ Hawke and so on are always played blind which often resulted in people dying in the SM, Fenris ditching me and all kinds of interesting things going wrong. Have a feeling that my poor shep that does ME3 first will have a very interesting time to say the least. But she has always been faithful to Kaidan so hopefully there will be some happy moments.

My first run through of DA:O was going well till the landsmeet, uh-oh. DA2 I scewed everything up, didn't get the rivalry/friendship thing.

The only think i'm worried about in ME3, I read somewhere that some of the missions are timed. I hate timed stuff. I like being able to do stuff at a pace. I'm just hoping that i misread.

Oh like the ME2 trailer with Thane doing some very cool fighting with biotics against collectors? I loved that lil bit of vid :D

I'm not a big fan of timed quests or escort quests.  They usually never go well for me due to acts of cat, general household commotion, or my computer's mouse has a schizophrenic moment.

I'd just be satisfied with combat screenshots that show Kaidan using biotics.  It would be nice to be reassured that he's still got the same skillset.  A Blur trailer with Kaidan would be pretty amazing, too.

And yeah, I'm so posting just to show off my sweet new avatar.

I just panic and I can't work under pressure. Been many a time where i'll throw the controller with whos ever with me and get them to do it. haha :D

Just going to make sure I save often....

Honetsly I thought the pic with Kaidan, MaleShep, and Liara summed up what I thought would be canon if it ever went to the movie stage. I think they would lean towards a MaleShep as the hero, Liara as the LI(since they always seem to feature her) and Kaidan as the bestfriend(since they do ususally have a bestfriend for the hero in those type movies).

I don't think I want too many more spoilers either but I would love some new screenshots.

Timed quests freak me out. I have flashbacks to my school days when they had timed tests and I could hear an imaginary clock ticking away in my head...I'd usually just freeze. Of course timed missions for "save the Earth" would add to the pace of the game...make you feel more like your living it.

Yeah i hate timed quests too, i always end up freaking out and hitting any and every button like a lunatic. Mind you i found some of the more 'frantic' pieces of music to be bad enough in ME2, i always end up charging round horizon and the collector ship freaking out just cos of the music, add an actual timer to it and i think i'd end up having  lil breakdowns

I'm not a fan of timed quests myself, though I've noticed if I just calm down and take it at a normal pace, accepting I may die the first time until I get a feel for it, I find I have plenty of time. Except for the run to the Conduit. To this day that one makes me want to scream.
