So I just got ME1, and I'm running around being all gleeful about seeing the start of Shepard's story, and squeeing over Kaidan despite the fact I've only just left Eden Prime  

Oh my god I suck at combat though. I nearly got taken out by two random husks people! XD Doesn't quite help that I'm slightly used to the ME2 controls, meaning I keep just being killed instead of hiding or pausing. Kaidan manages to be surprisingly useful despite my general ineptness though! (I have some sneaking suspicion it was somehow him who saved everyone in my War Hero background but he let Shepard take the credit because she promised him kisses or something.......)

And about two minutes along in my hybrid Carth!Kaidan video. Some of its developing a story and everything! (who here got frustrated when you couldn't talk to Kaidan whenever you wanted? )

It's always good to welcome another Kaidan fan into the fold. :-D

Don't worry about being bad at combat; you'll get better at it as you get more practice. And I find that Kaidan saves my Shepard's butt quite often, since I always put a lot of points into Throw and Lift (and Elec and Decrypt, of course).

Also, when your Carth!Kaidan video is done, please post a link. Cannot wait to see it!

The obvious solution for the Soldier/Sentinel thing is to have James Vega (or some other new squaddie) be a Tech/Soldier hybrid who can be spec'd either way. So if you don't have Ash you can make him more soldier like, and if you don't have Kaidan you can make him more techy. You already have Liara for biotics.

Your probably right...nothing to worry about...for those that are concerned with it...as for me I prefer Kaidan's biotic side...in combat and storyline. I heard(hopefully true) they were improving the biotics this time around which I'm happy about. I found them kinda dull in ME2 as compared to ME1. Singularity kinda sucked at least for me.

Is it sad how I'm possibly having more fun just using random Carth lines for Kaidan, rather than just the nice romantic ones? (Coincidentally, I'm sure, most of Carth's flirty dialogue is the dialogue that actually sounds most like Kaidan's voice - Sbarge's Carth voice is slightly higher in pitch. But its still the same! XD). I might post an in-progress video at some point to keep me motivated to finish it!

Well, I'm blaming the current ultra-failure at combat as adjusting from ME2 (I joined the ME universe due to bioware's sequel celebration, and then somehow ended up here. I regret nothing) - the controls are all different,

Hadn't heard about an appearance change for Jack and didn't realize she was an adept/vanguard ot that Jacob was one as well...just more proof for me personally that I was just too overwhelmed by too many squadmates to choose from. I'm guessing they gave her hair.

With her background and Jacob's past ties to the Alliance I think they have some interesting ways they can go with how Kaidan reacts to them. But then again I don't know with all the talk of realtionship building if that's going to include a lot of it between different characters or if it's just between the different characters and Shepard. Be interesing to see how they run with it.

I have the PC version and I agree the change in the controls drove me batty...I actually think I liked the it better the way it was set up in ME than ME2...but then that's just me. Have fun.

Oh I really want interactions between party members. Party banter and cutscenes are some of my favourite parts of the DA games - seeing how your party interacts with each other with or without the pc being there is always so much fun. Especially if they don't like each other and make it ridiculously obvious XD (or when they tease the LI about being in love with the PC...while the PC is standing right next to them both, haha).

I would like to see the group interacting with each other too. I mean, its kinda clear they're only all together because of Shepard, but they do have their own lives too. Even if they're fighting because they hate each other - it teaches you so much more about their characters to see the way they act around each other!

The party banter will be the easiest thing to bring back and something I really missed in ME2...and as slow as they were the elevators because I was always listening for party banter or a news report. Hoping we get party banter like with DAO or with Kaidan/Ash in Chora's den when you click on them...but the cut scenes like with Miranda and Jack fighting or Tali and Legion fighting over the data...I don't know how much of that they will bring back...wasn't a lot of it to start with.

ETA:Not that I wouldn't like those scenes...it's just that if I had to pick between scenes between other characters and an extra scene or two with Kaidan I'm going with Kaidan...the party banter would be enough to see me through.

Well I loved the way they did it in DA2 - little cutscenes with two party members before the PC entered the room (i.e. when you start a conversation with Anders, he's finishing up a conversation with Isabela, who leaves and then you say "hi anders, tell me all your secrets! *cheesy grin*"). That sort of thing couldn't be that hard I guess, especially in ME where all the characters are stuck on the same little ship for months on end anyway, haha. And even though that sort of thing was only a few lines each, it was nice to see how your crew gets along without the PC running around beside them.

Party banter is such great fun though. Especially when its party banter dependent on plot or certain loyalty missions/romances etc - makes your team feel more real than just another one of Shepard's guns!

Oh my gosh, this so much!  Especially since before I got my new gaming laptop, the computer I was playing ME on was super super laggy and got horrible framerates.  So I had to attempt to drive with the turret zoomed all the way in to get a better framerate so I could actually make the run. MTE. Talking to your squad and getting to know them is fun, but getting to listen to their comments adds another level of immersion and helps define their personalities. I care more about characters when they act like real people. It would be so hilarious if they added the LI-teasing from DA.

Re: combat and game controls, just pick settings you like and then change the controls manually to match. For example, I started using ESDF instead of WASD for movement, I changed the sprint/pause settings in ME1 to match ME2, and all my hotkeys (first aid, grenade, interact) match. It cuts down the learning curve if you play other games, too, because you can always use the same button for standard actions like "interact/use" or "toggle walk/run".

Well, I'm used to WASD as the running controls because I'm a DA player. The thing that screws me around the most in ME is that the mouse controls the camera - I keep trying to use AD to do that, and clearly, that doesn't quite work XD

Also got used to spacebar being pause in DA, when its only open tactics sorta thing in ME2. And so far means nothing in ME1. Thus the husk things nearly killing me on Eden Prime, haha (stupid Shepard trying to press space to take cover!)

My favorite party banter/interaction system was in DAO. The characters spoke to each other spontaneously. You could talk to any of them outside of camp (just like in KOTOR) and with Alistair you could get kisses whenever you wanted as well (or go back to his tent in camp).
I hated how limited your interaction with the characters were in DA2--although they had the party banter.
In ME I loved the stuff in the elevators and like in Chora's den. hehe. I would have liked to be able to interact with Kaidan more times and possibly steal kisses--but I suppose that wouldn't have worked well with the story/setting. Still, Sbarge's voice saying anything sends nice goosebumps down my spine. mmm...
ME2's interactions were the worst. Nothing spontaneous. You had to use prompts. The fact that I didn't like the charactes much didn't help (well, the LI's at least).

And you're right about Kaidan. He can be very powerful. I ran into a small bunker on Ferros once and he charged ahead. By the time I go to the end, everything was dead! LOL. My hero. *happy sigh*

Jack is getting a pony tail with shaved sides, apparently her hair grew really, really fast between ME2 & 3.

Yeah im curious to see jack/jacob/miranda interactions with kaidan too. I'm kinda hoping to see an over protective (of shep if jack was loyal) ****y jack having a go at kaidan, read it in a few fanfics and now really wanna see it in game :happy:. I'm also kinda hoping jacob will mock kaidan for sticking with the alliance despite them disregarding sheps warnings. I like the fact that jacob jumped ships to find someone who would fix the problem rather than ignoring it, i can see the opportunity for some juicy convos. I'm also hoping too see miranda go all 'ice queen' on kaidan but being friendly as hell to shep, just to rub it in about how much of sheps life hes been missing.

Angst, more angst thats what i want! (obviously eventually resolved with smexytimes ) I want my team to bring the angst too.... epic space drama love story.............. yus please!

Agreed...I thought the stuff with Liara backseat driving Shep in LOTSB was hilarious. I'd love to see a scene where most of the crew are arguing about who HAS to go with Shep when she drives the hammerhead or mako...each making excuses as to why they can't come right then.

Might work well this time though...we don't even know how far they get into the trial before the Reapers attack...I could be wrong but I doubt Shep could be officially reinstated in the Alliance until the Batarian mess was resolved. If that's the case the only thing she could be would be a Spectre and there are no regs with two Spectres;)

Kinda angsted out myself...ME2 was full of it...the Kasumi thing rips my heart out...I'm looking more forward to the funnier moments they said they would be including.

I wouldn't mind someone else on the crew flirting with the LI. I mean ME2 had people practically throwing themselves at Shepard...it's not like the LI's aren't worth a second look. lol...made me think of Kelly...she could flirt with everyone of them.

A pony tail with shaved side? so kind of a mohawk deal then...still fits her character...I wonder if the small changes they made to Kaidan and this pony tail thing with Jack is an indication that they are going to be making appearance changes with other squadmates.

sorry I'm having a drool fest...waiting on hubby so we can leave...to see Thor...hope it's good...anyway I'm having a drool fest...I love Kaidan in this armor:

Well ashley is confirmed as being changed aka had a makeover, garrus is losing his bandaging so his scars will be on show and hes getting new armour. So it sounds promising for most of the squad to be having at least minor makeovers.

I'm kinda glad he was confirmed earlier then most, we have had to wait alot longer than the ME2 LI crowd.

I feel for them, I have saves with Thane, we want absolution for every LI obvioulsy but yay for Kaidan

As far as I know, Kaidan wasn't specifically modelled after anyone. He is a pretty close look-a-like, though a little to Mulder for my tastes. I could see him playing Kaidan in a Mass Effect movie.

I wonder if Kaidan will be involved in the trial that's supposed to take place at the beginning of ME3 for what Shepard did in the Arrival DLC? It would be interesting to see his take on your actions (especially a femShep). I would positively swoon if he defended Shepard.

I cheated when I went back to play ME after a couple of rounds in ME2 and changed the key mappings to be more similar

Is that Danny Pino?  I remember seeing Cold Case a while back and thinking he looked a bit Kaidan-esque.  

I would love to know the artist's inspirations for creating both Ashley and Kaidan.  To me, they're more interesting than the creation of the aliens in ME1.

Yes    =)     I would be beyond happy happy if there was some fun partybanter in ME3. I love how it is used in DA2 and I fully agree on the banter between LOTSB. That was one of the things that I really enjoyed about that, dlc, banter and the humor. Shepard complaining that Liara shouldn't give the people shooting at them any new bright ideas for attacs and so forth.
Romancing Sebastian with my current Hawke and I must say that I miss having romantic banter so if there was a little bit of Kaidan-banter in regards to his realationship with Shepard it would be great. Are they togheter, did shepard stay faithful. If she didn't how is that changing things between them. Yay for banter
