Given what he knows, I'm surprised Kaidan doesn't look worse by the time ME2 rolls around. Not only having to deal with the loss of Shepard, but also knowing about the Reapers and seeing most of the galaxy refuse to acknowledge/do anything about it... can you imagine the stress that must cause him?

He definitely would want to keep the VS away from Shepard though. The VS would have thrown a serious wrench into his plans.
Shepard should have gotten in touch with Hackett and/or Anderson and convinced them to assign Kaidan.
I wonder what TIM's response would have been if Shepard had contacted him with, "I've recruited Kaidan Alenko, and he's going to be on the team whether you like it or not."
"You're letting your personal feelings interfere with the mission, Shepard. Miranda, activate the control chip."

Kaidan: Over my dead body.
OH YES!!
Top of the page, lack of Kaidan:

^ Please Bioware, I want THAT scene in ME3 *pout face*
Or in a DLC....*does the pouting thing as well*
I didn't really notice that much of a difference between ME1 and ME2 Kaidan personally. It's just that Kaidan is in full, insanely bright, sunlight on Horizon whereas in ME1 the lighting is very much different. I find it hard to judge since most of the time he's lit up like a christmas tree in ME1, orange and blue tones. Further more Horizon plays the close-up game very well so we're getting hit with the improved textures on his face.
With the way he's animated on Horizon (rather sloppy), the poor textures on his armor, and the whole generic scenes there, I would be surprised if they actually took the time to age him a bit. Or maybe they did and as a result they didn't have more time/resources to fix the cross-eyed stuff etc
I like seeing the texture on his skin, but it's there in ME1 as well just not as crips I think. But it does add to his story now that we literally see him in a different lighting, the struggle of the past two years should show a bit but that's what we like/want to see I think. Again, mostly because of the lack of detail in ME2 where the VS is concerned. But who knows, maybe they did take the time to redo Kaidan's face textures a bit or tweak them at least. Could very well be, in fact I hope they did because it shows Bioware is being thoughtful (can't think of the right word)where Kaidan is concerned.

That is something I wish they touched on outside of the romances, but then again Shepard who doesn't take a lover or Shepard who is loyal to the VS has no one to confide in. Poor girl...

Kaidan should look a little older, not cause of the passing of 2 years but because of the passing of Shepard. (Both male and female) One thing I do like about Jacob's romance is Shepard's confession about feeling lonely and left behind. Jacob counters by telling her the reason why everyone has changed so much is cause they lost her.

Yeah, I really feel sorry for my Shepard...the picture scene at the end and the one after Liara leaves Shep's cabin, really showed how alone she is

I actually don't think he seems to have changed as much as Ash when she's the VS. Her face looks a little more gaunt than it does in ME1.

I agree. He does look a bit more weary on Horizon and it's noticeable but not too much.

In ME2 Kaidan rolls eyes so romantically (internal logical woman makes facepalm, internal fangirl continues to...squee?) while talking to Lilith, and light in ME1 when both he and Shepard looks as made from plastic (or just sweaty) makes me wait for line "take a shower together" every single conversation.

Gosh, still remember how it felt seeing the Horizon cutscene with Kaidan and Lilith for the first time. I was glued to my screen. The way he says "Lilith" that first time just made me go Rawr.
It's always strange to look forward to something so much that when you get to see it, you try to soak up every little detail, listen to every single word and at the end you just feeling dazed. When you view the scene a second time, you notice so many different things, your eyes catch different details and you wonder why you missed those the first time. No matter how much attention I gave the Horizon scene first time around, adrenaline always blurrs things slightly hehe.
After waiting for two long years, I really wanted the Shepard/Kaidan story to continue and the first moment Kaidan stepped onto my screen in ME2 and hearing his voice, was just really special.
I think I'm going to be sad really, when their story has ended in ME3. There's something frustratingly wonderful about not knowing where it's going, waiting for more, speculating, wishing and hoping....that excitement will end after ME3 is released.
Which might be for the best, since it does get horribly frustrating at times, especially with so little to go on

I know exactly what you mean, the wait is so deliciously torturous...but then again...we need more. *sigh*
Well, we should be thankful for fanfiction because it's the only thing making this whole thing bearable!

Really hoping it's the first scenario. I'd like to think that all the angst Kaidan and Ashley fans are going through was part of the master plan...lol.

I hope they give us a bit of a opened ended conclusion. If they do the Kotor-like ending, "and Shepard chases the Reapers back into dark space and was never seen again. She only left behind a message to the man she loved 'keep the Alliance strong..." I think I might murder something. Like for realz...<_<

New Kaidan thread! Hi guys. Just dropping in to show my continued support for such a great character
Wow Winde!!!!
@Meon Agreed, I really would love to see a nice cinematic ending. For some reason a text block describing what happened blabla or some slide show with a narrator would really feel weird for ME. So here's to hoping there aren't too many options for possible endings, so we go out with a bang instead of a .txt file
<3ME1's ending.

I have inside information. The real ending to ME3 is as follows:
Shepard defeats the reapers.
Shepard continues going on missions to help the galaxy.
On one mission, she, Kaidan, and the rest of the squad are exploring a hostile planet. Rocks fall, and everyone dies.
The end.

lol meany... I did something pretty terrible like that with my ME3 ending comic I did on deviantart. I think everyone in KAF and KAAS hates me just a little bit for what I did. Which reminds me, please someone get me motivated to finish that damn thing. I have either 1 or 2 pages and I don't know how much effort to put into them. I just want it done so I can move on to a happier not as tragic Shenko story.
EDIT:
@Sashimi_taco
Yes but it's kind of different. My favorite part is when Kaidan scolds her.

I was wondering. Since Kaidan makes little accidental remarks on how he likes femshep, does Ashley make the same kind of slip ups? She seems like not the type to do that, but it would be cute.
From what I've seen, not really. Her remarks feel more deliberate to me, when she makes them. It's one of the things I love about Kaidan, how he slips and then gets all flustered and tries to cover it up.
